The final sentence that the protagonist says is horrible! This drama was extremely average, the acting was good, what was really average was the script and direction! The choices of how the story followed in circles and the decisions of the protagonists were extremely childish and predictable! The plot "save the protagonist pretending that we are brothers" here made them seem like brothers and everything after that seemed weird!

I think that what writers did had an internal consistency that really didn't help. From early on, the FL considered the 2ML but always told herself that the feeling wasn't there. (And later said that to the 2ML) Even if at the same time she was reluctant to admit that her chemistry with the ML was there. So that kept her from the 2ML and dragged their story on and on. Prince Rui and Shujun was the romance that they couldn't show with either the ML or 2Ml during the drama. A sop for those wanting romance.
And an important reason for the ML to keep the FL in the dark (Which he revealed early on) was his fear that once she knew, she couldn't let go. That she'd go full Tangli. Which they briefly tried to show her doing near the end.
Considering how much control women in those days had over their destiny, with arranged marriages the norm. Groom snatching is a small step in showing the other side. A very small step. I don't mind her getting to choose her mate like that.
I wonder why they didn't show clearly who stabbed Tangli at the end? It was supposed to be that she couldn't face falling in love with her Father's killer, so she stabbed herself in the end. She couldn't live with him but couldn't live without him. But that was never made clear.

That's why the 2ML had so much screen time. The ML couldn't be overtly romantic with the FL for most of the drama. And he couldn't be as handsome/charismatic as the 2ML. Would have bothered the censors, I suppose.

The actor for Wei Yan is very good at portraying intelligent complex characters with a dangerous charisma more than making up for not having idol looks. He was terrific in the second season of Weaving a Tale of Love.

Nine Puzzles (2025) ? kdrama. Binged the first six episodes. Odd couple of damaged genius profiler that teams with detective to catch a serial killer. The profiler was the only witness of her uncle's murder that started the case 10 years ago. The detective tried to convict her for the murder and still harbors doubts.

Sharpe's Rifles. My first and best impression of Sean Bean.

I suspect that it was sour grapes that he wasn't idol beautiful. Bland idol beautiful. Here Ci is that kind of actor.
