I think that we the audience shouldn't trust what Tangli says. We were told that she stayed with the other guy because he said that could protect her, but she was really setting him up to be betrayed so that she could get close to Prince Yu. Her true end game may be to get revenge for her Father and for her, but from the inside. Lu Chang remarked on how she had changed from when he knew her before. He tried to warn her about her danger.
In ep. 1 at 15:19, when Lu Chang is talking about seeking justice for Master Su, his bodyguard tell him that he may be groomnapped and also that Mingshu has feelings for him. The first words out of his mouth is, "The path I walk is thorny. I won't drag others down. I won't consider marriage." Not I don't have feelings for her. Everything after that should take that into consideration. People also may not say their true feelings or reasons for their actions. And had he accepted the marriage, he and Mingshu would have both died in the Jian Mansion massacre. So for the triangle to work he has to have some flaw for Song to be seriously considered. But that flaw has to be able to be explained away. just my two cents worth. I could be wrong.

I re-watched ROTRP many times and like the intelligent leads and their devotion to each other. D&D has a separate Easter egg concerning the ending. Thank you and take care.

I haven't watched The Demon Hunter's Romance. Allen (Jialun) Ren in the ML. He is popular but his acting is more stoic than expressive. Lareina (Zu'er) Song is a pretty good actress but has been sidelined with tax problems. For Under the Moonlight, you should realize that it is Luo Shu, the FL's story and her romance with the ML, is in increments, not always evident, but starts from the first episode. She solves mysteries that are usually between women and men. She observes more than she acts. You can step back and enjoy it better. Hua Bing Qing has a better role in Insect Totem.

I guess aside from the script, Mingshu may feel that if they've been lying before, what is to say that they couldn't lie again. And there is a fear that if and when she knows the truth, she will tunnel track to get to the bottom of this, And mebbe try to get revenge or justice. She may not be so good at playing the long game.

Originally her Father received some information from Master Su, who was framed. The bad buys killed everyone in the FL's mansion and tried to kill her. But she fell off a cliif and survived but lost her memory. This time, she was mistaken as a plant by Lu so was ordered to be killed.

My feeling is that a number of viewers posting here ship Master Song rather than look for flaws in him. A similar triangle was in Under the Moonlight. The 2ML was seen as more suitable. But when the chips were down, he failed too step up and save her. He even tried to save her in ep. 35/36. The difference there was that the ML was blustery and was also the comedic relief. Comments tended to note how bad the ML was rather than how good the 2ML was. The main couple didn't declare themselves until ep. 29/36. As late as ep. 26, when he impulsively kissed her, she slapped him. I think that because of the above, not so many people watched the drama or dropped quickly.
AvenueX mentioned that IQIYI that adopted the AI recommendation to change the ending of Demon Hunter Romance from the writer's HE.

Usually my comments are to give reason why you should not drop any drama. Sometimes they are to provide extra information. Sometimes I go off a different tangent or rabbit hole. If I am not interested in a drama I won't make a comment. Very rarely, in a drama that I want to like, I may voice frustration at the writing or direction. Choice Husband comes to mind.
My bar for enjoyment may often be set lower, or rather if I like it, I like it and don't sweat it if it doesn't. My tastes can be very catholic. my only complaint is that it is sometimes rather hard to distinguish between the idol lead faces.
Often I will try to understand why the direction of the story goes one way and not another. I understand that I am not the target audience. Not Chinese, not even overseas Chinese, (yonsei) and not a woman, which these dramas largely target.

Lu Chang could/should have kept an eye on the door or gone to someplace out of earshot but an open space to ensure no one is nearby. But it moves the story along for her to find out.
