The Empress is being presented with a number of potential lovers. She rejects all of them until the last is revealed to be Pei. It implies that he faked his execution/death.

Ep. 22 has he and his bodyguard racing to prevent the imperial order? But we are not clearly shown the outcome. That may allow Chang and Mingshu not to be permanently declared siblings, despite what we saw.

Good point. But I guess then the 'Good guys finish last' would not apply. As Song in born into Chang shoes would not be so different. Song as he is now but faced with Chang's dilemma may be interesting. We may see that played out if/when Song is confronted with Mingshu's past being revealed. We are bit by bit shown why Chang has been making the hard choices, at great personal cost. (as seen by ep. 22) Thank you.

Good points. I think that Mingshu will be revealed before either Prince will have a clear shot to be Crown Prince. So it will probably depend on how her situation is explained to the Emperor. And probably before she remembers that crucial piece of evidence from her Father.

After you catch up, I'm interested in your take on events. I'm enjoying but not with a critical eye. Letting the story carry me. Thank you.

Good point. But were Song to switch places with Lu Chang, would he be up to the task of protecting her and also seek justice for his Master? I think not.

Ep. 22. Tangli is made of much sterner stuff where a slight misstep could be fatal. Of the two females wronged by Prince Yu. She has the moxie to make the fatal stab. She and Lu Chang have and will sacrifice much to achieve their goals.

And yet this is the only ongoing cdrama that I'm following. The drip drip tension and the will he or won't he is still interesting. If Prince Yu finds out who Mingshu really is, he may decide to eliminate her or use the threat of exposure and the danger to her, he and his Mother to get him to do his bidding. If I were to magically see the last episode, would I keep watching? Probably. Re-watch. value. mebbe low.

If Mingshu is found not to be the sister, the three face deceiving the Emperor. If the deception is found after she gets close to Master Song, he may be sucked in, too. Prince Yu may be on a roll for a while.

End of ep. 20. The ML will tell Prince Rui that Mingshu is not his sister.

There are a few other Easter eggs that I wish were made. Zhuo Lan Jiang, his role in In Blossom.
And one death that greatly disturbed me because it was so unfair, The Love Lasts Two Minds (2020), Xiao Lu, the FL's maid. She was tortured to death to get her to turn on the FL.

It started off really well. The scheming FL, the cat and mouse game between her and the ML as she seeks to recover 'bixi' and also kill the ML and he tries to pierce her schemes but also recover some lost memories. The writers should have kept her like that, playing a covert double game rather than have her assume an overly cheerful person.
