May I suggest kisskh to view this drama? The ending has him staring at her back in the flower shop. Perhaps with recognition. She is sitting and looking at some orchids in front of her, lost in thought. She is not aware that he has entered the shop and is now staring at her back. Then it shows the images of their faces, side by side but separately. It is implied that he will go to her and they will reunite in the real world.

Tangli and Prince Yu are really in a complicated dance where a misstep could be fatal. Those maids that fatally unknowingly crossed a line stand as a stark reminder. I also do think it is a case of the writer continuing a 'will they won't they thread' to pad the drama to 40 episodes. And also showcase the supporting actors. I would say that this seems to be with the Qingzhao, Tangli and Shujun actors. I could be wrong.

Time is often inconsistent in these dramas. How long was Prefect Su in prison before the coerced confession and his suicide and the execution of his aide. It couldn't have been long with the need to cover things up and clear up loose ends. Because how long was Su Tangl in the Imperial Music Office before she escaped in time to appear before the Jian Mansion the day after the massacre. And when Mingshu went back to the Mansion it looked more like several years of decay rather than a few months.
Some times the man in her dream appears to be in a darker dress and sometimes in a lighter blue.

Good points. I wonder if Liu Yuanying being the adoptive daughter of Su Changhua's executed aide, Liu Xiankun will become important later on. Or was it just to establish a romantic vibe with her brother. She was hired by the Lu son from the Imperial Music Office and she was coerced to sleep with him to save her 'brother.' Does that make her, in the eyes of Chinese censors, to be 'damaged goods' and prevents her from finding love if she chooses?

Su Tangli started her new life as a criminal slave. And she remembers falling from being the daughter of Prefect Su to be the daughter of a convicted criminal. Forced to work (trained to be a dancer/musician/courtesan? at govt brothels) at the Imperial Music Office she was tortured (abused) until she faked her death and escaped after being abandoned in a mass grave. She is remembered by Lu Chang as saying that she lively and bright, like a crabapple blossom. Lu Chang cannot protect her like he can Mingshu, even if Tangli accepted his offer. What is her relationship with Prince Yu's bodyguard Qi? He seems to be protecting her and not fully disclosing information about her to the Prince.

Has anyone considered the relevance of the title Serendipity to the drama? Serendipity as in Lu Chang being at the bottom of the cliff. In Mingshu leaving the Mansion because of his rejection and avoiding being massacred with everyone else? The chance meeting of the two with Master Song at the Inn with the bandits? Or seemingly stumbling through the drama until a happy conclusion?

Good point. I think that the woman/women that suffered or were killed by his anger would imply that a redemption are may be difficult, given the morality of Chinese censors. Thank you.

Good points. Under suspicion where a misstep can be fatal, ruthless probably makes her useful in his eyes. Nothing breeds success as getting the job done. But there must be a reason she is portrayed like that or written like that as usually there would be a man or woman already working for the Prince who is doing the same thing. Perhaps they are setting up a confrontation with Lu Chang or Mingshu. It would be as if Lu Chang had to fight Mingshu to the death. A less likely scenario is that Tangli and Master Song get together. But I don't think Tangli will see the end of the drama. Thank you and take care.
