Ep. 32. we find out that Qin Yi is the one that lead the men that burned Shu's house a dozen years ago but under the orders of brother Qi Yanjin. Mr Liu is cooperating with Mr Zhao (they are usually playing go) and plans to throw Qin Yi under the bus.

He misunderstood Liu Wan's role in her Father refusing to release the grain for Linfen. He does not know it is because of the agreement with Qin Yi. Both stand to profit by delaying the delivery of the grain to drive up prices. He may come to understand that it is not her fault. If Lin Wan discovers why her Father is delaying the delivery of the grain, and passes on to Muzhgi, it may change his feelings. She is revealed as straight arrowed as Luo Shu. The kidnapping was a misunderstanding on her part that Muzhi and Luo Shu his broken his promise that she would leave the yamen and Linfen..

Ruminating, if the FL, Luo Shu wants to help people, then Magistrate Han Muzhi has the edge as he has the position and will to help his people of Linfen. And his love for her is strong and sympathetic.
If Luo Shu wants to break from the yoke of her past and live a life that she chooses, the ML Chi Menglin has the edge. The answer to who set the fire seems to lie in his family. Menglin seems to have the will to investigate unswayed to where it may end up. Both men are moved to help her because they love her fiercely. She does not seek to manipulate them to help her. Their passion for her lock steps them to help her. But they don't force themselves on her. .

You must be talking about the crazy Qin Yi, the Master that others are afraid of. He has been behind the scenes manipulating Luo Shu since she lived in the Qin Mansion. He has killed some, but Lian Cai who works for the ML's older brother Yanjin (White robes) may have killed the same number of people. He works to break Luo Shu and Menglin apart.

Liu Wan loves Han Muzhi. But he is still stuck on Luo Shu. 5 episodes to clear up his heart.

Episode 25.From 24:34. Luo Shu is talking to the owner of the Changsheng Gambling House and she says that her Father was a minor official at the granary/grain storehouse at Taiyuanwei. At about the same time there was a well dressed man in blue talking to the military soldier. The soldier said that he didn't tell her anything. This man seems to be stymieing the investigation. Later he was caught in the net and identified as Lia Qi, servant of brother Yanjuin. He may have silenced the Guo neighbor couple and sent the poisoned sweets to try and poison Luo Shu.

That reflects on the person using that pejorative. I may be blustery and thoughtless, but I would never use words like that. And not to hurt someone either. Bottleitupman.

Liu Wan loves Han Muzhi. She will do something to make him decide that he needs to prove himself to deserve her. Her Father is in a precarious situation due to his ambitions. Saving him which means saving her might do. Chi Menglin needs to prove that he can live without the trapping of his affluent background. That his achievements and ability to support and protect her comes from his own efforts. It will be after he lets his faithful servant go.

Luo Shu has stated that she cannot trust nor depend on anyone else. Too many have betrayed or let her down. Qi Menglin puts her above his wishes. The two horse race, one for her heart, the other for her affection keeps the viewers watching.

She didn't shed tears for Magistrate Han when he was drunk. But she did after scolding Qi Menglin and after leaving the Qi Mansion. Who has her heart is clear. She intends to sacrifice herself to get Qin Yi to release grain to Linfen. But release of the military grain will ruin hoarder Qin and his agreement with Mr. Liu to bring the Qi Family down. I think that will be how it will play out.

Qin Yi thinks that he has Luo Shu and the downfall of the Qi Family and the support of the Liu Family. Sending the grain early to Linfen will lose him profits and break part of his promise to Mr. Liu. But if Luo Shu marries him. it would be worth it. He believes that he will have future opportunities to make more profit. Magistrate Han Muzhi hoped to secure grain for Linfen by appealing to his future father-in-law. That Mr. Liu hopes to take the Qi family governorship by delaying sale of the grain. Allowing Qin Yi to secure his profits and also use his dealings with the Qi family to bring them down. Qi Menglin promised to stay in the Family as a dutiful son to get his Father to grant him limited freedom to leave his mansion. He also asked his Father to release military grain. And rather than trying to stop Luo Shu's marriage to Qin Yi, he will find out who caused the fire that killed her parents. Luo Shu gambles that her marriage to Qin Yi will speed up the grain to Linfen. It seems that the key might be the timely release of the military grain to Linfen. That would depress the value of the grain that Qin Yi hoarded, providing an economic loss to Qin and also embarrass Mr. Liu for delaying release of the grain. If Qi does find out who caused the fire, it could be used blackmail his Father to allow the use of military grain or have the Father do it it thwart the person or persons behind the real cause of the fire. Who benefited and what benefit came from allowing a minor official of the granery/grain storehouse in Taiyouawei to win at the casino. Who would benefit from his and his wife''s death.

Wuniang was poisoned so that Madam Yu became the madam of Mengke House. Jin Miaocui was killed to silence her as she found out who was behind Mr. Li and Madam Yu. Xu Biao killed himself because Qin Yi and Qi Yanjin were watching and both made a deal with him to pass on false info. Hence the change in his story. The couple that died of carbon monoxide poisoning could provide further information on what happened to Luo Shu after she became an orphan. About the relative that took her in and also about the two men who came asking if everyone had died.

Wuniang adopted Luo Shu. Qin Yi had her kicked out of the Qin Family so that Wuniang would take Luo Shu to Mengke House. To place Luo Shu in Mengke House to educate her and to break her spirit. I suspect that teen Qin Yi had more power than we suspect. He got Xu Biao to get the regular customer at the gambling house that later disappeared, to introduce Mr Shu to the gambling house. Mr. Shu was a minor official of the Granery/Grain store house in Taiyuanwei. That winning was probably a bribe to do something for the Qin Grain Store. So even back then, he was able to have the gambling house provide winnings for Mr Shu. Who set the fire appears to be Qi Fengzhiou.

He was the old man in ep. 2 bidding for Jin Nang's virginity. He had the conversation with Madam Yu telling her that Jin Niang cannot go to Young Master Menglin as she was for the Master. The master is Qin Yi. Mr Li also said that if Madam Yu had better control of Luo Shu, she wouldn't have connected with the authorities. (Magistrate Han and the yamen in the temple case)

Ep. 29. Qin Yi is the Master that tried to buy her virginity in Ep. 2. He used Luo Shu to get at her adopted mother,, Wuniang to chase her out of the house and send both to Mingke House. Madam Yu revealed that he had Luo Shu sent there to break her spirit. Mr Li runs Mingke House, but he apparently works for Qin Yi. Qin Yi apparently got control of the house some time before Madam Yu was chosen over Wuniang to run Mingke House. Mr Li chose Yu as she was more manageable. Wuniang died shortly after.
