Wallis Simpson. The Duchess of Windsor. Divorced her first husband. Divorced her second to marry Edward VIII. He gave up the throne to stay married with her. Queen Elizabeth II succeeded him. My post about FDR was if he gave up politics to marry to someone tainted as judged by the standards of her time, (unfairly, I say) his accomplishments that were many and some crucial would not happened. History would be changed. And his wife Elanor Roosevelt's accomplishment due to being his wife would also not happen. The Duke and Duchess of Windsor left very little marks on history. It is not clear if Han without the patronage of the Liu Father will be able to rise and make his mark in society. And Liu could seek to punish him by banishing him to a remote area and block his promotions. And woe to anyone who might try to give him a break. And now Luo Shu, being exposed as a former courtesan would be the subject of slander and backbiting. Han would also be affected. Han may give it a try to support Luo Shu, but I believe that for his sake, she will break with him.
Postscript. Elanor Roosevelt found out about FDR's affair as early as 1918. He was with his secretary when he died.

Ms Liu could easily ask her Father to block Jin Nang's manumission papers. That threat could be a two edged sword. Another term would be enfranchisement.

Ep. 14 raises some questions.
1. Who was the woman that Eunuch Zhang was looking for. Bai Yue knew her identity but his comments to Luo Shu seems that he regarded her as just the yamen spy. He would know her as Ding Bai that visited the temple and not as Jin Nang from Mengke House and not as Luo Shu from the yamen office. Is it going to be 2FL Liu Wan who is probably hiding.
2. Who would save her by braining Bai Yue and yet not check to see if she was alright. That would seem to preclude Qi, Chen, Cai and probably Han.

Ep. 12 a steep road bock.

Really really low budget. New Year Beast and Demon Hunter (2024) 5 episodes 7 minutes each. Subs are wretched, but endearing once you know what is happening.

Bluster that protects a sheltered ego. But I ship him. The 2ML is the opposite. The ML might be opposites attract. The 2ML might similars attract.

Thank you for your comments. Qi Menglin for some reason hides what he really feels. He has been attracted to Luo Shu from when he first lay eyes on her as Jin Nang. And I want to believe that his admiration of 'sissy' stemmed from attraction. In ep. 5, he kicked the lunging Li Fengchun to stop him from attacking Luo Shu. Even his servant could see that he admired 'sissy' in ep. 5, although he denied it. Actions speak louder than words. Right now the romance between her and Han is chugging pretty smoothly. I have to admit. I think that the cat and dog show is more interesting than the mutual admiration society, though. I think that we should agree to disagree. Take care. I follow this drama with affection.

I'm team FL, too. You have some good points here and in other comments. I think your words and hers were too hard on Qi Menglin. Not only has he read those detective novels but by following her and observing, he was able to say that the novels were full of useless fluff and that he had to be like sissy. Actually, the novels lay the groundwork and observing allowed him determine what is useful and not. His bluster pushes her away. So when he asked if the yamen had special training, rather than helping him, she locked him in the mortuary. Who is childish now? And it started from the beginning with the food basket with the cinder block. And that was because of a a misunderstanding of why he bid for her. And he was quite clever in dismantling that old man and out bidding him. Back to Luo Shu. Granted that Miaocui's comments blaming her that outside was not better and that she could never escape her low status, weighed heavily on Luo Shu's mind. That may be why she took it out on Menglin by locking him in. So even though he tried to help by offering money, he stepped into it by throwing Miaocui's words back at her and gloating. He is not useless. He helps with the strengths, albeit limited, that he has. Granted it is largely money and the efforts of his servant. It may also be the scriptwriting, but he knows to keep his mouth shut and observe when they are doing the interviews. The drama has Miaocui going back to the Mingke House, but Luo Shu could have just as easily had her accompanying her during her investigations like the Shrine. That would have helped Miaocui a lot.

Qi Meng Lin isn't dumb, and his arc may show the most growth. But he is played for the comedic scenes and the love hate friction with Luo Shu. As some have said, Han Muzhi plays the straight man and gets the romantic bits, so far. I wonder if either could marry an ex-courtesan, save as a concubine, no matter what her origin is. I'm team ML.

Ep. 8 Still waiting adjudication. Her friend Miaocui returned to Mingke House at the end of ep. 5.
