to be fair..i prefer how they handled the whole restaurant/teahouse running thing here WAY better over "new life begins" (as much as i loved the latter show; the insane traveling sisterhood pants they had going on in there with their restaurant was like watching someone scratch a blackboard..with some toxic feminism thrown in). here i genuinely enjoyed their trip into bizinessing (as stupid as the their premise was half the time..it was watchable/enjoyable even by my compulsive FF standards)

as much as i am enjoying the show - the following stumps me;

ML is a no show with money (well technically he gave the money but it flew away, cuz wind and all) - so all protagonist women folk be like; omfg tragedy...we signed the contract blind assuming you'd just fork all that money over pronto (even tho we havent heard from you in a while but hey...we got dem women dreams which are way more important than ducking logic apparently)..but we didnt bother professionally checking the contract (well technically they asked their half blind friend who swore he be pro)and now we super fukd. what a bad horrid ML cuz no fork over all that money on time. boohoo*to be fair ML pulled a shitty noble idiocy ghosting thing. like really stupid shitty*erm....so are we girl powering here or....tf is happening here?

biggest kicker - this all happened after 2ML verbally promised to marry her...used her for money (without signing anything obviously) - then ditched here in a cowardly way (he woulda paid her back what she asked had he not been wimpy) - who she preceeded to track down...and somehow insist he owes her now 🤦🏻‍♀️..and then proceed to spiral this mans life (not directly but show needed a baddie) into holy pits of hell cuz...booboo he promised to marry me 🤔. but alas..lesson not learned...everyone still owes the women. as a woman...im a wee bit miffed and offended at how stupid and entitled those bits made us look. characters werent built as entitled...so im really not sure how we got there

i dont remember..sorry. but fairly fast. her annoyingness isnt as unbearable as in many shows. so sticking with it is not difficult - and certainly the show makes up for it plenty. it really is a show worth watching (minus some of the restaurant stuff which can easily be ff'd - i recommend "dream of splendor" for a MUCH better take on women in restaurant business with romance)

lol...once again. i have no issues with her character. i have issues with her acting. its not up to par to the dramas weight...or the character

one thing im grateful for in the show - is how they approached the feminist aspect. it wasnt toxic. too many shows today go over board into toxic arrogant territory with their feminist messages. its annoying af. (im a woman before anyone attacks). this show didnt cross any of those lines and its refreshing.

this was such a fun watch. its biggest downfall was lack of length. it really needed more episodes as the romance felt a little unbelievable (as did her rise in rank). there were no filler moments - every scene was pretty much fully necessary for the plot.
some nuisances for pickier watchers
- beginning amnesia thing is a tad annoying (i could be overly biased cuz i absolutely hate amnesia tropes)
- romance was a bit rushed and altho the coupld had wonderful chemisty - they honestly lacked time to really present it well (given their chemisty it really leaves you wanting more/feel a bit cheated
- the antagonist FL is absolutely infuriating (not in a 3rd wheel way. in an abashed crazy way)
- in the beginning - the FLs over exaggerated crying (she was pretending)was a bit too much (less comedic, more cringey AF)


for a parody-ish type show - the FL certainly brought more than expected. her role as empress/emperor was done very well. i hope she gets more scripts in the future, she has phenomenal potential. the ML was holding back tbh.

i love slo mo but not when it works against the actors. as pretty as the scenes were..her strength not being in fluidity or agility, director shoulda kinda seen that and not worked against her then. i wasnt referring to her sword wielding btw - i think she did decently well with swords.. i was referring to her body movements (even when she wields her needles).

i have no issues with her complex character. i just didnt think she pulled it off. as a main character i dont think she had any weight in her acting. nor could she pull off any basic facial expressions - she was very cartoony. i also dont think there was anything to "eat" for XK in this role. his role was simple. but he did add a charm and naturalness to it. whereas JT decided to play it a la cheap modern rom com (the ones where FL is supposed to be layered but instead we get a very one dimensional nuisance).

FL and ML just dont suit each other. their acting abilities are so far apart its hard to watch.
everyone on MLs (including ML) team has great acting chops...everyone on FLs team acts like theyre in a satirical old school show playing villains...minus evil moustaches (FL included. she cannot act. not a role she has weight to pull off unfortunately. even her eye reactions feel like a cartoon character attempting to be real) - and this makes the show awkward to watch. like two differently weighing actors took the stage and tried to create chemisty..but really its a parallel universe. ML actor deserved better.

also whats with the slo mo martial arts between ML and FL..it really emphasizes how wooden the FL is in her movements..she struggles with the most basic movement reactions to MLs fluidity - not befitting an experienced general at all. so awkward to watch. and this is all just gathered within the first few episodes..hard not to drop with these glaring issues despite the charming ML and team.
FLs brother (SML) is one of those 90s eyeball popping villains you cannot take seriously. every line he delivers feels like its his first time acting (and in the most caricature way possible). this contrast in acting styles just messes with the whole show direction.

swear to god, this entire production team comes from a "porn with a script" studio. theres no other explanation

by episode 5 im wondering if the stylist of this show got her ideas from a 90s stripper show
im also still questioning my sanity for continuing this show and finding the ML kinda hot when he gets into the FLs space....

so far on episode 3: current status of show - i may need reevaluate my mental health state cuz ive still not turned this show off.

ML is charming as heck as always. and thankfully the FL isnt a blubbering 5 year old to my surprise. but that said, this some scooby doo level shit unfortunately. still sat thru it for Zhang Linghe and his smouldering everything. they had 32 episodes to make this quite interesting - but failed. was really happy with how the characters were written - for once none of the characters were ridiculous or selfish or brain damaged...but alas...down the pooper with the scriptwriter and director

she showed promise in the first 10 minutes of the show during her interaction with her step mom...thats it. literally that was the end of any potential🤦🏻‍♀️ rest of the show she played a petulant child...with ZERO sense to any of her actions (i tried REALLY hard to find excuses/expalantions to her behavior because i really wanted to finish the show).

infuriating FL. arrogant, useless, and lacking any charm whatsoever. this type of character requires a whole other actress - one that can provide depth and subtlety despite the weirdly written script (and unconvincing backstory of the FL). on top of her lacking any ability to portray this character correctly, she also cannot act to save her life, ruining any attempts of the ML to lift this show through their interactions. could have been a decent show - but the awkwardly fragmented storyline, badly written script, and awfully casted FL just ruined it unfortunately. ML is pretty cool. he has a certain je ne sais quoi to his calm charm (which unfortunately was obviously stiffled during his interactions with a very awkward FL). i still finished it just because i saw the potential in this - and yea the ML is too charming not to watch.

she gets WAY better eventually. its a good show. dont skip it.

why is a foodie FL always portrayed as a childish, mannerless pig with missing brain cells? why cant she like food but also not eat like a starving wild boar? why MUST she speak like cartoon character? and why must she absolutely have zero common sense and basic manners - except for expertly shoving food into her face? is this the most a character can be ffs? shame the actress doesn't help whatsoever but pushes the bill by over playing this tropey character to the nth degree. i feel bad for the ML. this is a more than decent show..but the FL character/actress really pokes your eyes out

also, could her friends be anymore trash?! jesus. poor Jerry, cuz given ANY other actress this show would have done better EVEN with the trashy written fl...this actress really hammered in the last nail into the "pathetic" coffin

poor Jerry. this fl is the dumbest most pathetic fl ever. shes literally useless in every which way. her manager was right - cept givin birth there wasnt much else she was capable of. actress did an awful job portraying the fl too which added to the torture of watching her spasm her way thru all her lines
