borrowing from poster yunqiluvie - y'all losers are like cult and don't let anyone make any comment that doesn't fit your shitty agendas, using slur wont make this drama better
In my opinion there is a fine balance to strike. What I mean by that is - I don't need them to show nudity and…
The Untamed in my mind is a good example of Queerbaiting. So I might be saying something controversial here, but that is okay, it is just my opinion and not meant to offend anyone. I actually don't consider the Untamed drama to be BL. I understand that the original novel or anime is BL, but in my opinion the drama is not. The drama is actually the text-book definition of Queerbaiting to be honest where creators hint at, but then do not actually depict, same-sex romance or other LGBTQ representation. They do so to attract ("bait") a queer or straight ally audience with the suggestion of relationships or characters that appeal to them, while at the same time attempting to avoid alienating other consumers. So there is plenty of hinting, and innuendos going on, suggestive poems, homoerotic subtext, clever twists, slow burning tension, bone-throwing, etc. that is going on, but absolutely zero depiction of any same sex romance. There isn't even a confession of romance. Don't get me wrong, I love this drama and I'm crazy about it, but I would not call it BL. The original novel or anime might be BL, but the drama is not. Again, just my opinion.
Probably no explicit scenes because of the popularity of the main actors. But as long as the story is good, I'm…
In my opinion there is a fine balance to strike. What I mean by that is - I don't need them to show nudity and full on sex scenes in order for me to find it a credible BL / LGBT drama. But at the same time, they shouldn't engage in Queerbaiting either where the romance and gay relationship is depicted only through homoerotic subtext and unspoken innuendos. There has to be some show of intimate physical affection even if it means without showing nudity or full on sex.
I haven't started watching the drama yet, but I did watch a couple of trailers and it definitely looks Xianxia to me, and not Wuxia. A couple of years ago, MDL had published a series of articles explaining the differences between the Wuxia, Xianxia and Xuanhuan genres and it was a very thoughtful and thoroughly written series of articles. I can look for those links if you're interested.
It’ll be available in 7 days on Viki. I’ve watched it already on Youku but if you search it on Viki, you’ll…
Okay. I did search on Viki and I see in the "Coming soon" section. But no episodes available yet to stream on Viki. Viki is weird in the sense that they don't specify which date that a drama or movie in their "Coming soon" section is actually going to be available to stream. In my past experience with Viki, this could be days, weeks or even months and it just stays in that Coming soon Section. So it becomes bit of a guessing game. Oh well. I'll just be patient.
