The only other Hong sisters drama that I've watched is Hotel Del Luna and it is one of my favorite. So I'm inclined to disagree with you that they ruin their dramas in the second half. But then I only have Hotel Del Luna as my only reference.

I agree and they both love Jang Uk like their own son. Maidservant Kim dotes on him like a mother and Park Jin is the father figure with tough love but deep inside always worried and caring for the wellbeing of Jang Uk. Perfect embodiment of mother and father figures.
