Another BL where the main characters come together through rape or sexual exploitation. GEEZ! I realize that it may just be a cultural issue. But come on! Even if it is, love should never be based on the rape or sexual exploitation of another. It's really time these trope-laden BLs just die out!
Doing a love series (even a BL series) involving persons with disabilities is extremely difficult. Given the sensitivity of the some of the subject matter, there needs to be, IMO, a heightened sense of awareness. Although miracles happen every day, and many BLs are drenched in fantasy and fan service. The reality is that many people with disabilities will live with those disabilities for their entire lives (without a miraculous cure, like in a series).
All of the previous being said, I think this series handled the disability issues in this series very well. Yes, the ending eps. were a little contrived to provide a "happy ending." But, the series still handled the disability aspects of the series with care and respect. And for that reason, I think this series was one of the best, if not the best series of 2023.
I loved this show so much it was one of the most beautiful series ive watched from gmmtv, but I honestly think…
I totally agree with you that the ending was a little "contrived," probably to give a happy ending for fan service. But, the series did establish that Day's vision concerns stemmed from corneal issues and corneal transplants can restore sight to person with certain corneal vision blindness. So, the ending wasn't really unrealistic. However, like you, I just wished they'd handled it a little bit differently.
it's kind of common in chinese and taiwanese shows unfortunately.. like this happened in meet me at your blossom…
OMG! I'm not sure how much control the producers have in changing the source material. But, it's not that hard for a "good" screenwriter to make changes in bad material. 🤔
This series is a bit quirky, humurous, and heart-felt. The chemistry between Xiang and Shao Peng is undeniable. Jin Yun's portrayal of an individual with a hearing disability is quite impressive. But most of all, the series really delves into the hardships, successes, ups-and-downs, and challenges of persons with hearing disabilities far better than any series (BL or non-BL) that I've ever seen. For that alone, I give it at least an 8.
Can't wait to see how the series is resolved in ep. 13.
IMO, this series was okay. The omegaverse theme stuff, power bottoms, magical poweres and racing was an interesting mix and certainly a little different from typical Thai BLs. There were quite a few cringe parts in this series that I wasn't too fond of, especially in some of the characters. Here's one example: Why did the story have to make Jeff younger than Charlie (when in actuality Pon is about 9 years older than Pooh)? Yes, they're actors playing a role. However, the story itself points out that Alan (Sailub) is significantly older than everyone else on the crew, and he's chasing after someone who's the "youngest" in their group, like some old pedaphile. That's not cringy. but creepy. It would've made more more sense to make Jeff (Pon) older than Charlie (as he is in real life), then it would've elminated the "daddy-son" vibe I guess they were trying to go for. LMFAO!
But, as I've said before, the cringe in this series, along with all the sex scenes (as well as the action, etc.) is probably what it so popular.
It took me an embarrassingly long time to realize this is an omegaverse theme. Not until I read these comments…
IMO, the omegoverse theme stuff was really not the bad. However, there are many cringe parts in this series that were a little not-so-ok with me. But, as I see each and every time I read some of these comments, that quite a few folks actually want, like and even get off on cringy stuff. Wow!
It was going ok until the final scene of this ep. Why must there always be rape or attempted rape in the Asian BLs. And, the robot leaving his drugged friend behind (possibly at the mercy of anyone who comes along) was just in poor taste or bad writing. I'm sorry. That has kind of turned me off of this series.
I loved this, but a couple of nitpicks. One, the daughter would have definitely noticed the mother's hair and…
Agreed. IMO, I think there were quite a few "plot"holes in this series. One of the biggest being making it seem like the police were all inept, bumbling idiots to all the medical folks being criminal "masterminds." LOL!
I'm glad Tew arrested Kan. Any other ending would've not been in keeping with the whole twist-and-turn vibe this series had. Tew now needs to go and arrest the nurse as well.
Now that it's been a couple of years since this series premiered, I have NO problems giving an Op-Ed about this series. I won't be long winded, but will make just a few statements.
This series had soooo many issues with toxicity, cringiness, dangerous and wrong behavior going on (played as love by the way) that it could make your head swell. I get it that folks can watch and even enjoy whatever material they choose. However, that doesn't make the material good. Finally, this series was adapted from a Mame novel (which is problematic unto itself). But, in any case, if you enjoyed this series, that's fine. If you disliked this series (like I did), then that's also fine.
True. However, the series did emphasize that Day's vision could probably be restored via a corneal transplant. And, in cases where the blindness is related to corneal issues, it's totally possible to restore vision. So, in that respect it wasn't too farfetched for him to have his sight again.
Having just binge-watched this for the first time... what a ride. Every episode had me screaming crying throwing…
Agreed! Mew had no problem forgiving Top (whom he just met) over Boston (who'd been his friend for years). Yeah, it was messed up what Boston/Top did. But, really! You want a BF so bad you're willing to forgive his shitty behavior and NOT your friend of years. Hmmm!
OK haters, come and get me! LMFAO!

It's all just a matter of opinion. LMFAO!
