Curious? Is Charles (Neil) actually singing or lip-sinking? I couldn't really tell. Now, Reese seemed like he was actually singing. Anyone know for sure?
This series is just so messy! I'm NOT sure what to make of it! Your besties telling people you're hiding from, where you're hiding out! Pat needs to cut those besties to the curve. That's just so wrong!
I know this series is just another boss/employee fantasy. Yeah, every boss is a d*ckhead who wants to screw his secretary. Yeah, the secretary is screwed once and is now in love with the d*ckhead boss. They play the silly cat and mouse game. And of course, the boss is a top and the secretary is a bottom. These plots are becoming so common in BLs. It's not new. What I don't get is this. "With as many times we've this type of plot play out, why do we still like it???"
Interesting analysis! I, too would be curious to see how they handle it. I'm a little bit confused? Did you think…
Oh, I understand now. Stay With Me/Stand by Me was actually really good. It actually went beyond the "bromance," but just shy of being a true BL. It was obvious it was censored, but you could tell that they (producers) were definitely pushing the envelope.
I totally agree with comment regarding LGBTQ+ characters and stories, especially in China. However, it is my understanding that things are beginning to improve in China. With 1.5 billion people, it is safe to presume that at least 5-10% of those individuals (and quite possibly more) are members of the LGBTQ+ community.
I actually liked Advanced Bravely. As good as I thought it was, it too was watered down considerably compared to the novel, especially Jason X (Yuang Zong). LOL! Totally agree with the toxicity of Bai Luoyin and Gu Hai. The books were brutally graphic!!!
But, IMO, as many have reported, the reason for Advance Bravely and especially Addicted (Heroin) being so disfavored in China was most liklely due to the novels' portrayal of the Chinese Military and political structure. Many felt, and do I, had the novels not been so "down" on the military or the government, there might not have been such a crack down on those series.
As someone who's read the books and enjoyed the original series, I was really excited to be seeing an uncensored…
Interesting analysis! I, too would be curious to see how they handle it. I'm a little bit confused? Did you think this Thai version was "uncensored" or did I misread your comment? This version, IMO, varied greatly from both the first two adaptations, as well as the novel. But, in all fairness, the first two versions also varied from the novel, although probably not as much. Since the first version (the series) basically stopped just after the girlfriend's entrance, and Stand by Me was watered down to a "bromance" vs a true BL.
However, the second version, Stand By Me, like this version, kind of introduced other factors into the story not in the first series (Addicted) -- with the story of Stand by Me going up to the car crash, and Addicted Heroin going to the beach scene. So, it would seemed each version really didn't do the novel justice, IMO. But, I strongly agree with you on the age and maturity level of the actors (Mac) for such a mature-intended role.
I personally would've like to have seen the original cast of Addicted have a season 2 and at least finish the story in Book 1.
I'm wondering if Mac's (Poppy) listed age is accurate? If his MDL profile is accurate, he's had quite a few years of acting experience, surpassing all the younger cast members with the exception of August. It would not the first time an actor's info isn't completely accurate on MDL. Hmm!
This series is great. But, I hope it doesn't get bogged down with too many contrived "missions" by Jack and Joker whereby they are forced to steal things or save each other from danger just to get caught or found out again. That would get pretty old after 12 eps. LMFAO!
I would agree with most of the other posters that this ep was a "little" better than the previous eps. But, IMO, not by much! LOL! This series is becoming a "hot mess!" But, at least it's watchable. LOL! Has anyone read the novel this series is based on? If so, is this series even close?????? I doubt it! LMFAO!
As you can see above, MDL listed some BLs that are similar with the boss/employee storyline. If you'll also notice, they're all "hot messes" as well! LMFAO AGAIN!
First of all, I am a Male whom likes Male.I just finish watching "Stay With Me" and I would say this OG adaptation…
You make some great comments. Have you seen the original (uncut) version of Addicted or read the novel it was based on? It was entertaining, definitely more mature than Thai BLs on that time, and gritty. And millions around the world saw it. In the opinions of many, including myself, the main reason for Addicted (and it's actors) being banned in China was not due primarily to its lgbtq+/BL content. But more on the how the novel portrayed the Chinese military/political establishment, The Chinese government realizes that there are a great many lgbtq+ people in their society (probably more than many other societies). But China tends to clamp down on anything that threatens their political structure. However, things are changing in that nation as older more stubborn generations die out and younger more freer thinking generations emerge. Remember, it's just an opinion. Please don't stone me to death. LOL
I think some folks had the expectation that with a Thai based production company, there wouldn't necessarily be…
That's a good question, and I really don't know. I would guess it's probably because China (even as powerful as it is) still wanted to maintain good relations with the other asian countries in that area. China does tremendous business with those other nations.

The original Addicted (Heroin) was so good because, IMO, it was gritty, mature, and bold. It really didn't have many stereotypes and tropes. But it was pretty "mature" (to use the term lightly) BL. Many believe the reason it was banned in that country (along with its actors) not because of the lgbtq+/BL content, but rather that the novel on which the series was based did not shed a good light on the Chinese military/political establishment,
I have to agree with @misspulane, There is some cringe in this series and we're only on ep. one. Also, Earth, IMO, is getting a little too old to continue playing these ultra young, naive, constantly lovesick characters. He's nearly 28 years old. You would think that he would want to begin playing more mature roles. But, a job is a job.
If he was, he has a pretty good singing voice.
