I, too, want to echo the opinions posted. I agree that it is rare that we end up happily with our high school sweetheart. But, yet, it does happen occasionally. And even when we do end up with our "first true love," just ast Shal48 and Soribee have indicated, love and relationships do not always go hand-in-hand. Love can be wonderful, heart-warming, blissful, long-lasting and hundreds of other positive descriptions. But, love can also be heart-wrenching, complicated, one-sided, short-lived and hundreds of equally negative descriptions. That's love.
ITSAY showed us the innocence of youth. IPYTM showed us the reality of life. We grow up, we grow apart, we experience new things, we fall down, we get back up, we get hurt, and we occasionally come back together again. That's life. Teh's actions were not cool. It injured the person he told he loved. It damaged the relationship he thought would survive, and it set him on a different course in his life. He eventually had to come full circle. Even with the hurt, the pain, the anger, and the betrayal, Oh-Aew chose to forgive. As Bas tried to get Oh-Aew to realize, "the heart wants what the heart wants, and it's not so easy to ignore that." Ladies and gentlemen, some would say that's "love". Others would say, that's "life."
I think what this series did best was show us a snapshot of what it is like to begin to "love" during the innocence of our youth, and how to survive love as we grow up and experience "life."
IMO, I think GMMTV has found a pair they can actually build up. Phuwin and Pond are really young (17 and 20 respectively)…
Totally agree. But, if you'll recall, there was about the same age difference with Saint and Perth for LBC1. But, being so young and getting caught up in all the BTS drama with their agents, the production companies, etc., can wreck havoc on this pairing. Let's hope that doesn't happen.
Couldn't agree more with all the posters. This series was a bit of a "bop" every now and then.. BUT, it was also entertaining, cute, kept us interested, had a decent ROMCOM ending, and made us want to see more of the "awkward Pi," the "ever trying Mork," the "dumb-ass Duean," and of course, "Meen's DUEAN, DUEAN, DUEAN!" LMBO! Can't wait for S2!!!!
I've re-watched this series a couple of times, and IMO, I still kind of like it. No, it isn't some great BL drama. But, it's entertaining (for the most part). I guess I would agree with most of the posters, in that Ram/King were my favorite couple, and Mek/Boss was my least favorite. Although their characters were childish and silly at times (and every now and then a little crazy and toxic - but not much), the show did include a little of the long-needed discussion about "top/bottom." I especially liked the episode in which Bohn thought Duen had sex with him while he was drunk. Instead of going through a lot of silliness that other BL plots include, Bohn simply confronted Duen and asked him what happened!!! Wow! Like finally, a scene that shows how a couple should behave! Then, in that same scene, Duen asks Bohn what he would do if he (Duen) had actually done something sexual to him. Bohn responds by telling him that he would just "accept it." and that he "didn't care what their status was (top vs bottom) as long as they could be together! WoW! Now, that was a scene. That one little scene restored my faith in this series. Then BAM, Bohn/Duel was silly again.
Yes, this series had many flaws and character missteps. It had a few tropes and stereotypes. And, it had some silly and stupid scenes. But, it occasionally had a scene that made you say hmmm!. So, even though I would give it an overall 7.5 - 8.0, it really wasn't a bad BL. I've seen much worse.
Ok I just have to comment that you saying psycho triggered the fact that when it panned to Mork smiling on his…
In the novel, once Pi and Mork get together, Mork is constantly pressuring Pi for sex. And of course, like in so many of these BLs, the trope is that since Pi is portrayed as "weak", "awkward," etc., he's naturally the bottom to Mork, who dominates him during those intimate scenes. I wish for once the writers would get out of that overused trope mode!
I will never watch anything with Duean (Neo Trai Nimtawat) anymore...his acting gets on my nerves so much that…
I'm wondering if it could be because Neo's character was put in the series mainly for comic relief??? And if so, Neo may have been instructed to play that character "over-the-top." Because, at times, I find it very irritating, too!
I've enjoyed this BL for the most part, but I must say Mork and Pi, while they look great together, are one of…
Totally agree about Pond's character! He's also constantly grabbing Pi to make his point. That's a little psycho too. I just hope the series doesn't parallel the novel too much.
I'm so upset I can't see straight. Mork diddling Pi's left nipple under his shirt under the covers without first…
LMBO!!!!! Flypsyde, you're such a mess! HaHaHaHa! Keep up the "good" work!!! I need you to keep me honest! HaHaHa! Signed, Your Not-So-Favorite SJW! LOL!
As crazy as this ep was, AND IT WAS! LOL! The one thing that I was able to glean from it was this. Bryce has some pretty sh*tty friends! Friends who will sell him out for a quick dollar, especially Clark. I hope in this series Clark gets his just desserts!
I totally agree with you ! I was about to write a comment about some of the things you mentioned, but you did…
I totally agree with you. too. I though Sib's character was creepy! But, I didn't want to hit the criticisms too hard. LOL! You raise a good point about personal life and fiction. I wish I had commented on that too.
Well, I guess I will be the odd man out. As far as this series went, I thought it was just o.k. There were things in the series that I really liked, there were things in the series that I really didn't like, and there were things in this series that concerned me and I wished they had just left out.
First, the things that I liked: I liked how this series kind of exposed the underside of the BL industry. I liked the character of Aoey. His character was flawed. troubled, and realistic. I liked his "arc" in the story. I liked how at the end (special ep) we found out the origin of "The Lovely Writer." That was an interesting twist. I liked how some of the characters in the series eventually did the "right" thing, as far as morality goes. And finally, I liked that Gene and Nubsib got to at least have a happy ending.
Next, the things I really didn't like: I didn't like how the portrayal of Gene as this "hopeless, hapless, cowardly and weak-minded" introvert without any explanation of how he became that way, especially when the series showed flashbacks, Gene appeared to be a "normal," happy kid. I didn't like how the series keyed in on so many overused tropes (especially the ole seme/uke trope, where naturally Gene was given the uke persona). Hmmm. I guess ALL cowardly, hapless introverts are ukes! That was sarcasm by the way. I didn't like how the arc of Aoey was not really addressed. We were sort of just left hanging with that story. I really thought that the "fairy tale" prince and "princess or prince" scene was a bit much. Once again, it seemed to be a little tropish.
Finally, the things that concerned me: It really concerned me the way they utilized the flashbacks in to show the beginning relationship between Gene and Sib. I realize the series was trying to show the deep, long-lasting connection between the two. But, at times I felt a little uneasy about their relationship. Gene was supposed to be 5-7 years older than Sib, while Sib was still a little boy. Younger kids idolizing older kids is one thing. But, older kids idolizing young kids can "cross the line." At times I got the feeling that "adolescent" Gene was being "predatory" with "young" Sib, even though I know that's not what the series was going for, especially with the kiss scene during the flashback. Even though I don't believe they "crossed" the line with those scenes. It seemed they were "walking" a thin line.
But, all-in-all, I thought the series was o.k. I'd give it a 7.5/10 rating. It had some good points, and it had some not-so-good points, IMO. But, to each his own. These are just one person's opinions.
Okay put it this way. I was upset that Perth and Lay were not paired up in this show in the beginning, now watching…
You're right. This is a "Wal-Mart" version of Our Skyy. The first couple (eps 1 and 2) was just ok. The story was a little bland and didn't really make any sense. The second couple's story was much better (eps 3 and 4). I actually liked this couple for the simple fact that they were very different than their roles in WHY RU (which was stupid btw). Max (Sun) can actually act. Who knew??? Now eps. 5 and 6, I'm again not liking it either. I'm not even sure I'd rate in a "Wal-Mart" version. It's more like a "K-Mart" version (which btw went out of business).
