Seriously? You can fully enjoy a show when you already know how it's going to end? I was wrecked by the ridiculously…
I can respect that! Occasionally, I'm the same way.. Hahaha

Now! This is an opinion I can agree with! LOL

This is not the first time. MODC's too. They can be pansexual. It's okay to be not just gay, bi or straight. Sexuality…
Now, now, Flypsyde. You know we can all disagree without being disagreeable. Ooops! I forgot. It's that darn "SJW" in me again. LMBO!

The acting in Episode 2 is fine, but the living room GSD/SY scene shows clear non-consent, IMO. Upon re-watching,…
I'm totally with you!!!!

So I stopped watching this at ep 3, I wasn't feeling it as much but that could be due to a number of outside things…
I also agree, especially about UP. The only thing that continues to bother me is Gene's character. I'm guessing the character is written that way in the novel. But, I'm not feeling it. Gene is supposed to be at least (5) older than Sib, but continues to act like a little child. Up is playing the character great -- I just don't like his character. Just exactly who's the "little brother?"

lol How very SJW of you. Toxic relationships often make for great drama. It's been that way for thousands of years.
No prob! Those darn Americans and their "english" will get you every time. LMBO!

LOL! Not being clever, just accurate. I guess that would be the "ups" and "downs" of this argument (noun informative). Now I will "up" and leave this conversation and go "down" a nice beer (verb informative). I think it's someone else's attempt at being clever. LMBO!

LOL! Cause you "may" have a point. If I believe the issue is worthy, yes, I'll argue. And, as for UP and DOWN, are you referring to those words as adverbs, prepositions, adjectives, verbs, or nouns? They can be each. But, then again, I would guess I would only be referring to their "English" designations. Hmmm! Doesn't seem so "basic" to me....

LMBO! I never stated it was news to me, just complex. And, there's never truly anything "basic" to "any" concept, that's a perception.

This is an interesting recitation. I'm not quite sure if I agree, disagree, or even totally comprehend its meaning. However, what I do comprehend, if I may be so bold as to state, is that issues such as "rape", "pedophilia", and "narrow-mindedness" are very complex and complicated issues when speaking of the social behaviors of various cultural groups. Because, you are right. What could be considered "abhorred" by one cultural group, may be completely acceptable to another cultural group. BTW This is my SJW way of stating that you may have a point, even if I may disagree with it. LOL

Title HIStory4: Close to You Spoiler
I'm still smh! I can get that Xing Si may have internalized issues with his sexuality. OK. But, I don't get how that justifies Yong Jie stalking him, breaking into his house, beating up his roommate, and getting him drunk and "raping" him to "help" him???? I know it's just a drama. But, that is some really sick behavior on the part of Yong Jie. I'm sure the series will have their relationship ending with a soapy, happy ending. But, I'm sorry. IMO, that would be a very toxic relationship (without some serious resolutions to some very serious issues), unworthy of the HIStory franchise.

I think this is the first time I have actually laughed out loud when watching a BL romantic comedy! Pi's actor…
Totally agree. This first ep. was light-hearted, funny, and easy to follow. I, too, hope folks can get past the "He's All That" setup. But, I would also like to see in this series some character development that show's Pi's "inner" qualities versus his outward looks. Too many series (BL and non-BL) focus on a person's "low" self-image of themselves as a lead-in to the story. Pi had a good self-image, and then gave in to peer pressure. I hope down the line the series shows, at least in some little way, you don't have to change to be liked.

Agreed. I am so disappointed to consider this episode a total failure.
Yeah. I agree. I wish the writers had concentrated more (in the flashbacks) how Gene became so "introverted" and such a "loner", when clearly in these flashbacks, he was not..... Did he discover his emerging sexuality, did he think things with him and Nubsib had grown to be a "little too close" in that stage of their young lives??? Any angle like this could've worked and made for a better flashback ep. What's really disturbing to me is the sudden re-emergence of all of these "step-brother" love theme tropes! I'm not sure this is a good theme (trope) to be exploring during these pandemic trying times, when so many are on "lock down."

You know! Had the writers of "The Lovely Writer" hadn't been so lazy in "their" writing, this could've been a pretty good ep. For example, had they clearly clarified that Gene was portraying a "big brother" role to Nubsib and Nubsib was romantically smitten with Gene (especially after taking the beating for him), it would've made a lot more sense and not so pedophilia-like..... Just my op.

Oh good grief! WHAT?? An actor in a BL series who is ... GAY? Meaning - homosexual?? How can that be? Extraordinary.…
I'm sorry for LMBO! I was just commenting that it was neat to see someone gay play someone who's gay... Didn't mean to stir anyone's panties up! LOL ฉันขอโทษ!

Okay, so I was really hoping I would disagree with everyone on this episode and like it, but I definitely did…
I'm so glad someone else pointed out the things that I, too, was thinking and wondering about. For all the reasons you cited, the "flashbacks" were kind of disturbing on soooo many levels, even if the producers and director was trying to be cutesy. And, to the critics commenting about the BLs needing spicing up, I'm sure (at least I'm hoping) no one was thinking about quasi-pedophilia!
