It was not an ending, more a preview for s2. We will see if it makes sense when s2 airs. I have my doubts too.
Yeah, the girl thing was a bit much. I guess she'll be Shi De's cousin or possibly the daughter or his mother's new husband or old husband. We really don't know the back story of Gao Shi De's father. I still think the (5) year thing was just off. I stand by it should've been 2 or 3. That fits better into the storyline.
I really loved this... and then the ending was a big ridiculous slap in the face. Made no sense.
I totally agree. And, they didn't really need to follow the novel and make their separation 5 years. It would've made much more sense for it to have been 2 or 3 years.
Interesting, because I feel that the opposite is true; it's not at all like all the other BL series we've seen…
Oh! OK! I wasn't thinking along those lines. All very good points. I was thinking more about this initial plot (storyline) has a familiar trope-like feel to it. But, I might be totally wrong. Thanks!
Honestly this episode saved the series for me. It was getting so slow and boring. when you think about it there's…
I guess I can see your point. To me, this series is actually a "drama," similar to Until We Meet Again, but done much better, IMO. Many common Thai BLs are either comedies or dramedies, infused, either sporadically or intentionally, with tropes, stereotypes, or plot twists for comedic affects. I guess it would be a bit different to watch a "drama" without any of those qualities. But, I too, am glad ep. 5 saved it for you.
I guess I'm like most other posters. The first ep. is ok. It's a typical BL comedy with typical plot lines we've seen before, except it's not on a university campus and doesn't involve engineers and medical students...LOL I hope the series gets better as it goes along. Otherwise, it will get caught up in the same old trope-like BL comedy we've seen in the past. But, then again, if these kinds of storylines sell, the producers will keep pumping them out. LMBO!
I'm not sure about all of you, but I'm getting spoiled. So far, ATOTS has been so well done with its story, acting, directing, cinematography, and attention to the village (its people, traditions and customs), that to go back to the same old trope infused Thai BLs would be a let down. Unless, we happen to not mind watching trope infused Thai BLs for entertainment purposes only (and I would guess that some of us probably do); and that's ok to.
OMG, in ep. 5, we finally get to see Tian and Phupha come clean about their feelings for one another, even if it's just admitting to their closest friends. And, to have friends who care about you so much that they not only accept you for who you are, but are willing to help you to be with the one you love.
BTW, Tian and Phupha have now been on (2) "unofficial" dates. So, just how many "unofficial" dates does it take to make them an "official" couple.... LMBO & SMH
