True! Can't argue with you there... LOL

In my opinion, it was not a rape. As someone here has written, Shu Yi fought against his own feelings. He also…
I see your point also. And, I think the writers/director probably planned it that way -- to keep interest in the story. It worked!

with these kind of scenes, i bet the writer, director, even the actors already expected two kind of comments from…
OK. I can see your point. But, as I stated before, does this now mean that when a person says "no" they don't really mean "no"????

Honestly that whole sexual assault, borderline rapey aspect of the sofa scene could have been completely skipped…
Thank you! My sentiments exactly. That scene could've have been just as sexy, hot, and intense, if the writers hadn't taken the easy way out. However, if it was a bait and switch. Bravo!

I hear what you say. I know that there are cultural issues here. But, so does that now mean "no" doesn't really mean "no"???? I'm just saying....

That scene could've been tweaked to have the same emotional affect without the drunk rape trope. Lazy writing IMO. I hope I'm wrong and nothing liked that really happened.

This was really good from the beginning to the end. I liked the very first scene where ShuYi cried and looked…
I loved the scene too. But, I still can't get past that it used the same old drunk sex rape trope and tried to justify the scene by Shu Yi eventually submitting. Even if Shu Yi wanted to, he told Gao Shi De to "stop." I'm sorry, but that is the definition of rape.

I loved the episode too. It was tense and emotional. But, it was still the drunk sex trope. I'm still trying to get my head around the whether it was rape or not. Hmmm! Although Shu Yi eventually gave in, he WAS being held down by Gao Shi De, AND Shu Yi said "NO" and told Gao Shi De to stop and get off him. I am sorry folks, as romantic and intense as this scene may have been, that's the purest definition of rape.

If that occurs. I, too, will be disappointed because, it would mean that now the Taiwanese BLs (who had been doing fairly well) are falling prey to the tropes and stereotypes of their neighbor cultures. Remember, it was shown in S1 that Shu Yi was more than capable to taking care of himself, when it came to Shi De. Although Shi De is the bigger of the two characters. he was also the more sensitive one of the two (or at least that was how he was portrayed in S1). What, their characters have now switched???

i don't think it's just simple "misunderstanding" because in the special it's shown that Shi De got in trouble…
Interesting points! I agree, we'll have to see.

Wow! Tell me how you really feel! I'm not sure I totally agree with you that we're not moving forward to a "better and smarter future," because I continue to have hope. However, I do somewhat agree with you that people have "lost" a lot because of social media, and not just the ability to think. That said, I totally agree that the plot was not the strong point of the series -- I stand better informed.

People would call it toxic and ridiculous if it's done like that. BL fans are now hard to please.
You're absolutely right. It would be toxic. But, unfortunately, it does sometimes occur.
