Title A Tale of Thousand Stars Spoiler
THE INNUENDOS, THE FLIRTING, THE OBVIOUS SEXUAL AND ROMANTIC TENSION, THE WAY THEIR RELATIONSHIP IS PROGRESSING…
P.S. I was hoping Tian would run up to Phupha and give him one great big kiss! That would've really set that scene off!!!

WOW! What an episode? This series just keep getting better and better. It seems this director and/or production company has actually learned from the missteps of other Thai BLs in the past. Because, this is a great series.... We have a true love story! Please let it continue getting better!!!!

I've found it to be a tender story with a fairy tale like charm for the LGBT community.
"Fairy tale" like charm. Hmmm! I hadn't really thought about it like that! You're so right! Kudos to you!

From what I hear from some book readers it’s the villages custom that the groom has sex with a widow the night…
Really! That's what happens in the book? Wow! Thanks!

P.S. I know I might sound stupid for asking this. But, I will anyway. LOL Does anyone know or have a good idea just exactly what they were viewing in the "dog howling" episode??? I know it's something sexual -- but, I'm at a loss as to what it exactly was... Was the groom "choking the chicken," "watching/looking at porn," "having sex with the intended bride?"" ????

Honestly this show is definitely one of the better well written Thai BLs out there and I've seen my fair share…
I totally agree, and I'm with you about not waiting until tomorrow..

Thanks! And, I couldn't agree with you more!

Title My Engineer Spoiler
It is totally understandable why a majority of the posters preferred Ram/King to the other couples. I preferred them also. They were cute, adorable, and even though they didn't have much plot, their "relationship" did not include any toxicity, misunderstanding, or game playing (although I would say there was some, LOL), unlike with Bohn/Duen. However, I would say that if it weren't for all the "mess" going on with Bohn/Duen, I think it would've been difficult to really appreciate the relationship of the other couples. They were the "opposites" to Bohn/Duen.

However, even though I thought that the plot was weak (at times), characterization could've been improved, and the story reverted back to the "old trope trap" (engineers vs medical students, college high jinx, top vs bottom, seme vs uke, misunderstandings, etc.), the series did have a few "high " points worth noting, IMO. First, the series did attempt to address some of the more poignant tropes/stereotypes in the LGBTQ+ community, such as the top/bottom issue and addressed it fairly well; especially in the lunch scene where Mek is explaining to Bohn and friends about the misconception of top/bottom using a couple in the diner. Also, in the scene where Bohn is asking Duen if he took sexual advantage of him the night before while he was drunk -- trust issues notwithstanding, when Duen replies, " if he did, what would Bohn do," Bohn's response was CLASSIC! He stated , " he would just accept it!" Then, he followed up with that by saying, "he doesn't care about what their status was and that he just wanted to be with Duen..." Then, he followed that statement with, "about our status, can we discuss it later..." Wow! Now, that was some sophisticated dialogue! Let's have more of those kinds of interchanges with the characters.

Therefore, overall, I think the series was pretty good. It had its tropish parts, its silly parts, as well as its shaking my head parts. BUT, it also had some really cute parts, a few really sophisticated parts, and some cutesy parts. I'd give the series an overall rating of "7.5," meaning its better than some, but not quite as good as others.

The reasons I like this BL sooooo much are these:

First, we're getting a "story" here and not just some contrived plotline that includes "blue shorts boys, engineers vs. medical students, and high school or college high jinx." The story is pacing itself fairly well by allowing the audience to get to know the characters, as well as some of the background to the story.

Second, the episodes of lengthy enough to give us a complete snapshot of what is going on and what needs to happen next. The episodes also attempt to at least complete a bit of the story and not constantly having a cliffhanger at the end of each ep.

Third, the acting is pretty good and those "staring gazes" that both Tian and Phupha give to each other throughout the series adds to the intrigue of their characters. Their facial expressions seem to convey so much of the dialogue without having to say a word. I luv it!!! I also like the way that Phupha's character is subtly "flirting" with Tian and seeing Tian's responses (either through one of those gazes or through dialogue). The pacing allows for the characters to actually outwardly fall in love (even though they may have internally had love a first sight). Also, there's no toxicity in their beginning relationship or in any of the relationships of the other characters.

Finally, I think the surroundings, scenery, the inclusion of the village, villagers, and local customs of the village adds to the overall quality of the series, IMO. I just hope these qualities maintain (or even gets better) and not allow the series to fall into the same "old trope trap." It appears obvious that at least the character of the doctor seems to recognize that there is a developing relationship between Tian and Phupha and appears accepting of it. I'm intrigued to see how the series will deal with the rest of the villagers' response to the developing Tian/Phupha relationship. Remember, it is a village guided by tradition. I can't wait!!!

I'm just curious.... Why didn't you like any of the HIStory series?
OK, fair enough. Crossing was my favorite of the bunch. I kind of liked Make our days Count until they killed off Yu Xi Gu and replaced him with a dopple-ganger, which made no sense to me.

Again, I agree with giving the smaller, low-budget series a chance. But, IDK, it still feels a bit "choppy" trying…
True.

IDK.... It seems that the "I had drunk sex, and I don't know who I slept with" theme has been overused too many…
Wow! Again, all good points, and there is no disagreement from me. Sorry to say that although I've had drunk sex, it's not been drunk anonymous sex, so I can't relate. LOL The "lazy" writing comment, along with the still tropish and stereotypical attitudes in some cultures continue to lead to these kinds of BL series -- and it's kind of sad, IMO.

Yeah, 15 minute episodes are not enough time for soooo much storyline.

Episode 2 made some good earmarks of at least giving some of the characters a backstory. I really appreciate that…
Again, I agree with giving the smaller, low-budget series a chance. But, IDK, it still feels a bit "choppy" trying to fit soooo much story into small timeline. It seemed they were "jumping" all over the place. I'm not the director or producer, but if they had spent one ep. developing more of the Nico backstory OR the Mira backstory, it probably wouldn't feel so "choppy." What do you think?
On Hello Stranger: The Movie Feb 15, 2021
I also had low expectations of how "the movie" would be pulled off. BUT, you know, I think show was pretty darn good. I think it was far better than trying to do a season 2 and dragging out the storyline. The "movie" format works better for some series. You get to tell a complete story in about an hour and a half or two. They left this story such that there could be a series of "movies", each telling another part of their love story. Forget the "series."

All good points! I agree with at least giving them a little leeway to see where it goes. I also agree with you on the Vietnamese BLs.
