Watched at 2x speed, had a blast!! The actors are bulletproof; they have guts to face the world with this drama. None can mess with them! It's a homage to old school dramas. I believe they've covered most tropes including objectification and bimbo women that fight over a man like an heavenly ordained prophecy.
Maybe awkwardly showcased in the drama, I believe girls can be brave and boys can be vulnerable. There are times when one partner has to gather courage and focus on problem muting the noise. Not intentionally self-sacrificial, that's team work. Compromises are inevitable for either parties and as long as they are not harmful to practical limits of self-care.
I agree self-care is important and that legacy societal molds are downright stupid. But is it just me or the concept of self-care has been taken too far? I hear a lot on my way or no way. Social creatures like humans thrive in numbers and if even 2 people can not work together towards happiness, we are in the midst of self-harm, ironically.
Instead of building coalitions through communication, we are fracturing our social fabric. The stubbornness to adopt a dichotomous belief-right or wrong, leaves no room to negotiate a win-win success. Binary in the age of qubits?
Something has to be given for something to be taken. Only such reluctant give-ins can shift mindsets and ultimately change behaviors, not casting folks out of the conversation.
I see dramas in 3 broad dimensions-Storyline, Characters- their multi layered realities and Production/Cinematography/Delivery/Execution (you get the idea)
In this drama:
Storyline- agonizingly dumb, making issues out of non-issues.
Characters- 2D, stick figures with hardly any depth or in tune with inherent human complexities that react to situations instead of responding.
PS-I would not go to such doctors, and taking a step further absolutely unnecessarily-their license should be revoked so they're never allowed to work in essential jobs.
Cinematography-overly dramatized, no eloquence and just plain out of touch with techniques for 2023.
There is nothing to spoil really, whatever you imagine the story to be-that's probably it. Enjoying The First Frost though...
This ain't a drama, it's a PLAY, a long theatre play. It is good, like good good. ML is the greenest flag. FL is a real queen. A literal guide on how to love a strong woman without insecurity. Ooh yes! Need more like this....
In drought of fluffy rom-com kdramas in the last couple of years-it is a much-needed drama!! Loved it! Watching it loved ones, Christmas felt wholesome :)
BANG ON ENDING! Oooooh yes, this series is umph 🤌🤌🤌
The ending was well-planned! Going back to any aristocratic king in history, it is almost impossible to come out unscathed in a standoff against the monarch, duh.
In my personal view, the conclusion was similar to that of Titanic, the movie broke records because Jack died. Rose, that smarty, did not pull him on the plank despite the space by all trignometrics.
Epilogue of my rant, the FL. The character is an absolutely brilliant women, I wish more dramas won't portray FL as brainless bimbo who only know sacrifice and can't rationally work out a win-win situation in a standoff. Women definitely don't get enough credit for world peace. Finally, Landy Li is now my certified good drama tick. If she in the drama, Imma totally check it out.
FL carried the show, need more not-so-delicate characters in cdramas. ML character as a partner to a real woman was somewhat well written. But even x2 speed felt slow, too many redundant filler sequences.
FL would be villain in other dramas, bratty, snotty, annoying and absolutely useless, she created more troubles and solved none. The only way to watch this drama is to drain logic from the brain box.
Should've strapped ML with a Kevlar and eliminated all sombre music video like scenes. They missed stretching it to 70 episodes with an amnesia troupe, I guess the South Wind did not approve. PS: there should be a parallel universe spin off with Ruanruan's misogynistic dad and Zhizhi's demeaning mom as a couple with 5 daughters, sounds fun.
Standard fluff drama. PS: manhandling and kissing other people without prior consent are grounds for sexual harassment, yeah not the most romantic idea.
Li Ji Dong was the life-jacket of this series, it would've been pretty basic without him. Also the beef against chain restaurants is groundless. More folks can be introduced to the cuisine and more folks can be brought into the culture.
Loved it! Like seriously. Smart, problem-solving FL and ML with secure masculinity. Their symbiotic relation sprouted from challenging each other to bring out the best. Absolutely YES....I'm here for it!! As a professional in similar industry, I found the lead chemistry to be maybe professionally questionable but personally both goals and way too relatable!
It has "Go ahead" and "Remembrance of the past" vibes. Pretty decent, best for drama slump. Loved whenever Yang Zi went "Oo!". The Jiang Yi guy though, definitely can't pass for 30 yr. The line between protective and overbearing is blurred for real. And cdramas like this should come with medical advice disclaimer.
