I think the screenwriter of this drama should be invited to adapt more novels into dramas. She really managed to capture the essence of the original story and even improved on some of the novel’s weaker points. I also heard that a female director handled the intimate scene in episode 32 in which she seriously set a high standard. Directors should take note and handle scenes like that with the same sensitivity and quality she brought huhuhuhu
So they decided to kill off Da Qiao without giving her a chance to resolve things with Manman. There was so much emotional distance between them, and we never got the closure we hoped for. Bi Zhi is left to raise their son alone, with the guilt of having killed Wei Liang. When Bi Zhi stabbed Wei Liang, I honestly believed he might have aimed for non-vital areas, or that after the psychotic Liu Yan left the scene, someone would arrive in time to save him. But no, turns out the writer decided to kill him off for good. And where the hell is Zhang Pu? If my memory serves me right, Wei Shao cuts off his head in the book. After committing all those crimes, he deserved to die. But since there’s no time to give him screentime with only 36 episodes, I guess we just have to guess his fate. And most importantly, I’m glad Liu Yuning’s character didn’t die for once or lose his beloved. Finally.
As much as I dislike Lady Yulou, I can tolerate it as long as her bitchiness and evilness is not on Ye Bing Chang/Tian Huan's level. But then again, the drama is exciting as long as the antagonist's brain is working well and not being dumb.
my exams are finally over so I started my marathon from this friday and binged all the 25 episodes in 2 days and omg, can i say it is the best historical drama I haven't seen in years since LLTG? (I am sorry Duke Su and Song Mo, but Wei Shao deserves the best husband award) And my sweet, sweet girl Man Man. I can't describe how much I love her. She is just the most perfect female lead ever written in terms of her intelligence, communication skills, understanding, kindness, and plus she is soo pretty. And if there is anyone who has read the book, please tell me if it has a BE or HE .
edit: But I agree that Wei Shao has some major flaws which I will rant on later. I am currently high on dopamine from binging this drama, so I can't think clearly now.
if I am not wrong we didn't see much of Kang Ming and Chai An today. is their arc over? are they going to be side characters now since the eldest sister's arc has begun?
