I don't understand the point of this drama. 8 years of repetitive friendship amounted to nothing. Very disappointed considering Li Qin and Zeng Shunxi actually had chemistry. I hope they are paired together in a much better drama in the future.
Noooo I was rooting for Jiang Xiaohai ðŸ˜. It did puzzle me as to why he was living in a shoebox when he seemed to have access to money. Such an interesting character. I know they killed him for effect but like he really wasn't going anywhere in the end, injured. Zheng Bei could have just waited for back up and they would have more than enough time to get Xiaohai. OR Zheng Bei could shoot his leg or ankle... sigh.
Finally a satisfying republican era drama. There were a few missed opportunities but it's already light years better than so many others. The main leads also had so much chemistry.
I watched the first episode out of curiosity. Dew's acting needs work but I think he's okay when acting with Prim. At least that's how I feel as someone who doesn't understand Thai and uses subs. The issue is in the writing. Their characters feel a bit undefined, paired with average acting, it comes off a little dull. If the writing was better, I think they could have really good chemistry.
Loved the ending. I was really sad when Wallace Huo's character died, but I love how they showed how Yimei was able to still be happy without a partner. Even as a single mother, she was still able to enjoy life and do all the things she wanted to. Someone who supposedly had a perfect upbringing did not need to have the stereotypical perfect ending to be happy.
And then you have Susu, who had the worst childhood, able to still have what seemed like unobtainable happiness with a family.
Where does one find a little sister like Niao Niao? She's the most unrealistic part of this drama 😂cause I'm a little sister and I'm pretty sure I was a little shit when I was her age. Nothing like how cute and sensible she is ðŸ˜
The last episode punched me in the gut and stabbed me in the heart. Ariel Lin and Tiffany Hsu are such phenomenal actresses. Taiwanese drama productions like these are really something else, so good at showing instead of telling.
Just caught up to the latest episode in one go. This is such a depressing drama with three people that have no business being around each other and have the worst communication skills. JQF is being viewed as the third party but honestly she probably wouldn't have made much of a difference in Rebecca's relationship with HRZ. Rebecca had an unhealthy dependence on HRZ. He enabled her depression instead of addressing it. I find him extremely selfish. He loved Rebecca and wanted to keep her by his side but never really helped her improve herself or gave her confidence/security.
He didn't really love JQF but married her because his mom wanted to, I feel like he never even once cared about her feelings in their marriage. And then he was totally fine with her sacrificing her job and life to take care of his mom.
While it's completely on JQF for cheating, their relationship was so telling when the first thing he asks her is if her one night stand was satisfying. None of these people were ever ready for a relationship. JQF was a people pleaser who sweeps everything under the rug, HRZ was indecisive and incompetent when managing boundaries with his mom, Rebecca was on another level.
I was really frustrated with Rebecca at first, the way she carried herself and her lack of interest in her career and just anything when she knows she needs to shape-up to survive. She was so contradictory, afraid to be disliked but didn't actually attempt to even adapt to try to get anyone to like her. But then I realized she is a very realistic example of depression and the sad reality of how much of a lack of motivation it brings. She's in a better spot in present time but the issues haven't been addressed. She needs a lot of therapy.
Sorry, but have you any proof that the ML is so much older than the FL? Not the actor and actress's ages. Am willing…
Sorry I can't justify their romance no matter time period. When she was adopted as a child, she's trusting her caretaker is invested in genuinely raising her under a healthy familial environment. Throwing romance in there brings in a lot of ethics issues with kids and glorifying it is not a good idea. I might be able to let it slide had they met when she was young and instead of him taking her in, he gave her to trustworthy people to raise as a normal kid. But he raised her under his roof. He has the responsibility to look at her as a child not as a woman he will potentially marry. I understand you see things differently and I think we can agree to disagree on this drama.
He Min Hong is the most unbearable and worst character but has the spiciest story 💀. They need to give Zhu Zhe a good male partner and more exciting storyline, Zhang Jia Ning is the best ðŸ˜
Started this without knowing anything so I thought it was going to be a GL based on the first scene with the princess and got kind of excited cause it looked really intense. Still a pretty good drama so far but it being a GL would have been a really cool twist from the typical stuff~
I'm in total shock. How did anyone think this story was a good idea? He technically groomed her in some way? He was so much older than her, how did they even get romantically involved? 😬
