As far as I understand, his brother, Zhou Wenchuan, was leading quite a big part of the family assets and is partaking in international business (and crimes). In the novel, the biggest reason he returned to China and take up the family business was because of the previously explained problem with the Chinese labor market and stuff. His family would never do something without short term results, so his only choice is to take up the business in order to do his goal which is ultimately to help revive the labor market in China (this is why Shi Yi in the novel says something that Zhousheng Chen has always been righteous-- in his past life, protecting their country, and their current still protecting the country from financial ruin ahaha).

I just remember that it becomes too late for a heart transplant and she spends her last moments with Mei Xing. She confesses to Shi Yi what she has done through a voice memo she asked Shi Yi to listen to. Shi Yi ultimately decides to keep Zhousheng Chen from knowing that it was Zhou Wenxing who harmed her twice because she knows that Zhousheng Chen loves his sister very much :(

I don't exactly remember what happened but from what I remember was that Zhou Wenchuan used Manman's (not Tong Jiaren's-- his actual wife) miscarriage as some kind of diversion tactic to stall for time before his arrest because Zhouchen Cheng has the power to keep him from being arrested.

Zhou Wenchuan is technically the main villain! In the novel he is responsible for all the stuff that was keeping Zhousheng Chen in Bremen (the fight and the stuff in the lab) because he wants to take over the Zhou family. The thing is, if I'm not mistaken, he also does illegal things abroad which is why he is being investigated by interpol.
MAJOR SPOILERS: A person you will be shocked to know took part in Shi Yi's accidents is Zhou Wenxing. She was responsible for Shi Yi falling into the water and almost drowning and the "appendicitis" (it's slow working poison- but not fatal). She did it not because she doesn't like Shi Yi, but because she wanted Zhousheng Chen to finally decide to leave the family because he's obviously not happy there. As you know, she has a heart problem and she was hospitalized near the end of the book to prepare for her heart transplant, but Zhou Wenchuan pulls some strings to keep her from getting the operation- and the reason is... to delay Zhousheng Chen and Shi Yi's formal wedding because once they get married formally, it's really over and he won't have any control in the Zhou family (as you know, the will of Zhousheng Chen's dad stipulates that he has to be married to inherit the Zhou family, and he did-- but since his mom was against the wedding, the elders technically didn't recognize their marriage. But they are about to go through formal marriage ceremony which is why Zhou Wenchuan made it so that Zhou Wenxing will be hospitalized so they can't get married).
I actually felt a little bad for Zhou Wenchuan, but it all disappeared when he deliberately let Manman have a miscarriage in order to beg Zhousheng Chen to spare him. For context, Zhou Wenchuan gets Manman AND Tong Jiaren pregnant almost at the same time. He was planning to have a divorce, but since Tong Jiaren is pregnant, they can't. Manman becomes considered a "concubine" (you shouldn't be too shocked that they still have this after all their family is freaking weird lol). As I've mentioned Zhou Wenchuan is being investigated by interpol for his crimes so when Zhousheng Chen finds out that Zhou Wenchuan is behind Zhou Wenxing's condition, he cuts off all his support allowing him to be arrested. Zhou Wenchuan begs Zhousheng Chen to let him go by inducing Manman to have a miscarriage :/

He uses Shi Yi to threaten Zhousheng Chen to overturn his arrest and also hand over the Zhou family to him. This happens in a balcony of some sort and when Zhou Wenchuan tries to shoot Zhousheng Chen, Shi Yi panics and knocks him away resulting in both of them falling from the balcony. Zhousheng Chen does get shot, but it's not anywhere vital and it's all thanks to Shi Yi pushing Zhou Wenchuan. The thing is, Zhou Wenchuan dies and Shi Yi falls into a coma. When Zhousheng Chen wakes up in the hospital, he finds out that Shi Yi is in a coma and this is why he cries. Don't worry though because the ending is happy. Zhousheng Chen moves them to Xi'an (former Chang'an) and Shi Yi wakes up 2 months later. They also have children hehe
