I think it seems fast in the drama especially if you haven't watched one and only, but the reason why Shi Yi trusts…
I'm not sure if this was mentioned in the previous comments but they couldn't add explicit hints that Shi Yi remembers her past life because reincarnation themes for dramas is not allowed in China. I do agree that it might seem quick for Shi Yi and Zhousheng Chen to get married and stuff if a person hasn't read the novel! On not remembering Shi Yi's name even if Prince of Nanchen was in their family tree-- this is because in Ancient China, names of women were never recorded, so there is no record of Shi Yi's name in the records. As far as I remember, she was referred to as the "Cui family's daughter" which is already considered quite big or something haha i hope u continue enjoying the drama <3
And we're getting more marriage episodes, this is one of the things that I love the most in this drama: we're…
In the novel, there is no tragedy or misunderstandings between Shi Yi and Zhousheng Chen at all. As you may have noticed, Zhousheng Chen's family is a bit shady, so following the drama, there will be a few attempts on Shi Yi's life (which Zhousheng Chen does his best to protect her from). Ultimately, nothing tore them apart until the end where Zhousheng Chen's brother (Wenchuan?) threatens to kill Shi Yi if Zhousheng Chen doesn't hand over the family ownership (long story short, Zhou Wenchuan thinks he deserves to be the owner of the Zhou family- not Zhousheng Chen. If you have more questions you can just ask hehe). He literally has a gun on her head and Shi Yi was so scared he when he threatened to shoot Zhousheng Chen so she pushes him off the terrace they were at, resulting in her falling down with him, but his gunshot does deviate and hit Zhousheng Chen in a non vital part. This results in Shi Yi being in a coma for a few months. Zhousheng Chen is obviously devastated when this happens. So I guess that's the tragedy part of the novel, but don't worry because Shi Yi does wake up and when she does, she finds out Zhousheng Chen has moved them to Xi'an (also Chang'an in the past) because he believed everything she wrote about the Nanchen Prince. In the novel, when Shi Yi visits him in Bremen, they are caught in the middle of a gunfight which scares Shi Yi so much because she is afraid to die and leave Zhousheng Chen first. This leads to her trying to initiate making love-- ultimately they don't go all the way because Zhousheng Chen would never let their first time happen that way... because he cares about Shi Yi a lot. If you are curious about their first time in the novel, it happens after Shi Yi returns to Shanghai first then Zhousheng Chen follows after he finishes his business in Bremen. :) I am a really huge fan of the novel and to be really honest, I like the changes made in the drama because Zhousheng Chen seems more awkward and unsure rather than the kind of mechanical Zhousheng Chen in the novel.
Shi Yi is jumping into this situation like she would jump into a precipice with only her faith to save her. I…
I think it seems fast in the drama especially if you haven't watched one and only, but the reason why Shi Yi trusts Zhousheng Chen so much in the novel is because she really remmebers her past life. In the drama it's glossed over as some vague dream which does make her trust in him seem a bit unfounded, but what I've always admired about Zhousheng Chen was that although he is awkward and a bit dense, he is always very careful about Shi Yi's feelings. Spoiler post below...
As a novel reader who has read the snippets of Shi Yi and Zhousheng Chen's past life and cried over it, I was planning to watch One and Only after Forever and Ever because I couldn't handle the heartbreak. I don't know what came over me, but I watched the last episode and cried a bucket... I'm not sure I can watch the rest of the episodes now lmao
A spoiler about what? I have read the novel and can give spoilers ahaha
It was never explicitly stated that Zhousheng Chen had feelings for Cui Shi Yi, but it is very evident from Shi Yi's memories that he treated her very well and I like to believe he did have some feelings for her which he chose not to act on because of his vow of never marrying and also because of Shi Yi's status. In the novel, Zhousheng Chen brought Shi Yi on a horse ride around Changan before he left and later on got executed. He also left behind a note which Shi Yi read: "Chen, in this life, never forsook the world and has only forsaken Eleven."

I'm not entirely sure if it will be in the drama, but in the end of the novel, Zhousheng Chen's brother threatens him with Shi Yi which results in Shi Yi pushing him (Zhou Wenchuan) down a high place where they both fall down. Shi Yi ends up in a coma and Zhousheng Chen is heartbroken. In the last few chapters, a few months pass by after Shi Yi's coma and Zhousheng Chen gets a call that Shi Yi has woken up. They have their lovey dovey moment and Zhousheng Chen tells Shi Yi that he read everything she wrote about her past life (because she was writing it into a novel) with Prince of Nanchen. He tells her he believes her and that he had decided to settle with her in Xi An (where they first met and also the capital in their past lives- Changan). They have kids and they live happily ever after ehe

Although there will be quite some action in the next episodes, I think they are talking about the prequel drama to this called "One and Only". The novel is about reincarnation which is not allowed to be broadcasted in dramas so the production team made 2 separate dramas for their story in the ancient time and the modern time. Like in the novel, their past life ended tragically like in One and Only. They meet again in their next lives during the modern era in Forever and Ever (which ends happily).

It's a happy ending! Shi Yi and Zhousheng Chen do take a while to be like real husband and wife, but when they do, they are so cute! There will soon be attempts on Shi Yi's life in the next few episodes probably if it's following the timeline of the novel...
I don't think the drama is set in current year because Shi Yi mentions to her mom that her boyfriend is under 30 when she first told her mom about Zhousheng Chen
As a huge fan of the original novel, I am enjoying this drama a lot even with the slight script changes! I think because of the way the two dramas were separated and passed off as different dramas instead of reincarnation, some changes in the script made sense. One of the biggest changes I've seen so far is the way they registered their marriage. In the novel, when they got back and saw the police, Zhousheng Chen actually changed Shi Yi's nationality along with his and registering their marriage in the process. Zhousheng Chen was described to have diplomatic immunity (which means he can't get arrested) which also carries over to Shi Yi because they are already legally married. I understand that they probably couldn't do this in the drama because a big part of the reason Shi Yi didn't mind was because of her memories of her past life. Since the Shi Yi in the drama cannot really have her memories, it's very fitting that Zhousheng Chen formally asks her to get married because considering his personality, he would have married Shi Yi like this in the novel if he had a choice aiya. Loving the drama so far! If anyone wants novel spoilers just comment down below :D
