Sadly, this drama is really not doing it for me. I watched the first four episodes before, then dropped it. Tried to watch two episodes again, hoping it'll better but nah. Now that I think of it, my biggest issue on this series are the characters. They are just too 1D. Or should I say, I can't connect with any of them. Not a single character. I think the story is a little interesting, but I believe this is a historical drama with just a little tweak of fantasy. The subplots are literally the usual cliches we see in historical dramas. I'm kinda sad bc I love the actors in it, but I just can't invest my time in this drama. There's too many currently-airing dramas to choose from and some of them sounds good. This one is a no for me. Still, I understand how people really enjoyed this. The cinematography and acting were really spot on. And the fantasy world is something we don't see in usual kdramas.
Everyone has their morals, but being picky with clients won’t earn money. Most people want to become lawyers…
Yes, that's why I understand him at a viewpoint. It's a nice touch that they inserted Atty. Ryu on the same episode to show contrast.
Anyways, I just want to point out the great writing this drama has. Instead of providing direct answers to these type of questions, which I can say is leaning philosophical, it instead evoke reactions and raises more questions. It allows hard conversations that needs to happen bc in that way, we can move forward and better understand things. And yes, there's still no definite answer on what's good and bad. What's right or wrong. There's only people trying to live their best lives and trying to meet their best versions.
On a sea of court kdramas, EAW cared to show a different side of lawyers. They showed the difference between a righteous lawyer and a good lawyer. Where being righteous is being human, being good is having an impressive winning rate. We thought as a viewer, that Atty. Jung is the wholesome, warm-hearted, morally good attorney. But actually he's not, he cares more about winning the case even he well knows he's siding with ableists. I'm excited what choice will Attorney Woo make in the end. To be good or to be righteous?
i think this drama got shelved by jtbc for two reasons: 1. it was produced by a major chinese company. we heard recently of dramas that got cancelled bc of chinese producers. very prominent example is that cancelled zombie drama from sbs. 2. shim eun woo being on it. if you heard last year, she admitted being a bully in the past. knetz are pretty harsh in bullying cases so that must be it.
with that two reasons, jtbc might have decided to not air it at all bc it will just give a bad name to them. snowdrop already did great damage to them so maybe putting this drama onhold is just a safe move for them. to save their reputation.
im sorry but the editing was so choppy. it distracts me T____T i have watched the first episode and it was a so-so for me. one thing i can say, choi daniel is hot HOT.
love seeing soo yeon being such a decent person (preview too)who has a irking feeling that the writer could take…
no. that will be just damn cliche. what will be interesting will be soo yeon working to tae su mi, or much greater woo young woo herself. let's see what the writer was hiding under her sleeves. my expectations are high for the second half of the drama.
Tbh I can understand Min Woo. I don't agree with him, I don't think he is using the right methods either, but…
me too. and i think we will be getting a backstory of him. if not, he's a another character reduced to a plot device. and that for me is just plain bad writing for the writer's part.

i can't believe how fast the story is going. i love that the writer just go heads with the main arc with woo young woo. i honestly thought they will do the mother reveal, and unfair hiring at later episodes. the plot exposition kinda reminds me of sky castle. where the story just moves forward at every episode with no red herrings. that means one thing, the script was well thought and we are might be getting a stacked 16-episode drama that doesn't falter with every episode and just gets better and better.
wow there's so much to unpack on episode 3 alone. i hope a time will come where all prejudice and discrimination didn't exist anymore. yes, the representation on media is thankfully becoming progressive now but irl it was entirely different, especially here in asia.
to be born different doesn't make you less. we all deserved to be treated equal and with respect.
