i didn't expect this series to be funny fluffy cute hihi haha hoho only, but damn i've only watched 3 episodes and i've ugly cried for each one of them
I won’t call you resentful, I’d call you western. As an Asian myself, no matter how bad our parents are, we…
Thank you for this insight, it's interesting to learn about cultural differences when it comes to the perception of family ! It's true that where I come from, it's more accepted to just leave when there's too much disrespect within a family (even though I've seen a lot of people sharing the same values you're talking about, but often because of guilt more than culture i think). And of course I'm not asking for thai series to change anything about this, i was mostly angry on Pai's behalf and had to voice it ahah
call me resentful, but i would probably never forget my parents and grandpa if they did this to me. Pai was (is) traumatised by the scam and one 'sorry' is clearly not enough to make up for all those years when he was taken for granted and neglected by everyone
1. gmmtv really cooked with OhmPoon, i wasn't convinced after the first episode but now i really hope they become a regular pairing
2. last episode wasn't as emotional as we thought it would be after the grand reveal, but today's episode was better imo, with Pai focusing on work to avoid confronting Tim and his feelings, and then the dinner scene which made me shed a few tears. Loved this episode
i binged the 5eps yesterday and i am so pleasantly surprised!! i didn't like the first episode that much but decided to give the second one a try anyway, and best decision ever, this series is a gem so far!! super funny and the way Tim and Yu fall in love progressively is extremely cute, i already know the breakup era is gonna hurt
well that was another level of abusive relationship, when i thought things couldn't get worse they did so 9/10 for insane characters and plot i guess lol
It’s just that there is so much to unpack?Like many no brainer stories have 10, 12 episodes with basically nothing…
No i definitely agree with you and with everyone being afraid or disappointed with only 5 episodes! It's a deep story with really nuanced characters, so of course more than 5 eps would be better. I was just thinking about how we had GMMTV series with lots of episodes full of nothing sometimes and felt like MAYBE (hopefully 😭) 5 episodes isnt so bad if done right ahah I also thought about "Your name engraved herein" which also beautifully addressed the subject of religion and homosexuality in a two-hour movie. So i figured that five 45 minutes episodes could probably also do justice to the subject! (even though i know a movie and a series are written differently for obvious reasons lol)
Let's pray (no pun intended) for a great series despite its shortness!!🙏
i know we're all surprised or disapointed about getting only 5 episodes for a series with such a deep plot, but tbh i'd rather have 5 really good episodes than 10 or 12 mediocre ones with lots of unecessary filler scenes or a second couple taking half the time of the main story ! I trust P'Aof and his ability to give us a wonderful story, even in such a short time :)
Me and Thee is great, not only because it's a light and funny series, but also because it was really different from what we're used to with gmmtv BL. Usually gmmtv gives us a bit of everything in a series, from comedy to more serious or darker topics. And that's not necessarily a bad thing, but it can sometimes prevent us from grasping the overall theme of the series (for example, based on the trailer for Head2Head, i thought i would watch something pretty intense and dark, but it turns out it was mostly fluffy).
But from the very beginning and until the end, Me and Thee stayed true to itself as a soap opera/romcom. The tone was set from the very first episode and our expectations were met each week. Every saturday, i knew i would watch funny and chaotic characters, and that was AMAZING!! (rating it 9.5/10. the 0.5 deduction is because I didn't like that Ran ended up with Tawan, and because Rome and Mhok didn't kiss lol)
