i know we're all surprised or disapointed about getting only 5 episodes for a series with such a deep plot, but tbh i'd rather have 5 really good episodes than 10 or 12 mediocre ones with lots of unecessary filler scenes or a second couple taking half the time of the main story ! I trust P'Aof and his ability to give us a wonderful story, even in such a short time :)
Me and Thee is great, not only because it's a light and funny series, but also because it was really different from what we're used to with gmmtv BL. Usually gmmtv gives us a bit of everything in a series, from comedy to more serious or darker topics. And that's not necessarily a bad thing, but it can sometimes prevent us from grasping the overall theme of the series (for example, based on the trailer for Head2Head, i thought i would watch something pretty intense and dark, but it turns out it was mostly fluffy).
But from the very beginning and until the end, Me and Thee stayed true to itself as a soap opera/romcom. The tone was set from the very first episode and our expectations were met each week. Every saturday, i knew i would watch funny and chaotic characters, and that was AMAZING!! (rating it 9.5/10. the 0.5 deduction is because I didn't like that Ran ended up with Tawan, and because Rome and Mhok didn't kiss lol)
overall not bad, but some episodes were kind of repetitive so it could've been a 10eps only series imo
and even though I was rooting against them, Farm and Van plot was what kept me coming back every sunday, i liked their dynamic when Van wasn't a complete assh*le lol
i have to say Van crying scene was really believable: his squeaky trembling voice, the way he tried talking nonchalantly about his family's house to avoid breaking into tears but we could still hear the lump in his throat, and then the ugly sobs and sniffing. Big kudos to Java, i think he nailed it!!
i love that Mai took the time to explain to Van how shitty he acted, but now i need to hear these words from Farm. i need him to properly crash out in front of Van and tell him directly how his behaviours affected him. And then, i need Farm to find someone who truly respects him
i loved the more mature and darker plot, but somehow i unfortunately feel like the end was a bit flat or too easy? something was missing imo, but I'm still glad we're getting kbl with bolder plots from time to time, it was a good watch
I learned that lesson after watching "Blank" week by week. Now I always wait for a drama to (almost) finish…
Same, i now try to wait a few weeks before starting some series (especially the promising ones), but it's hard to wait when i don't know what to watch, self control is key lol
as the series is about to end, I'm finally starting it (i knew i would've died waiting each week for one episode). After watching the first episode i can definitely say ClaireBell highly deserves its rating. From the music to the lightings and general cinematography, every scene could easily be a photograph!! I'm amazed by the quality
Yes, Rome and Mhok had been together from the beginning, and the whole family knew, especially Thee. The director…
thank you! Today's episode made me wonder if I remembered the novel correctly even though I read it not long ago lol. I will definitely read Kian and Peach novel, but I wanted to wait until the series is over or i might spend too much time comparing them!
did they change RomeMhok story a bit for the series? i haven't read Me and Thee novel, but I've read RomeMhok novel and if i remember correctly, they were already pretty much together when Mhok decided to follow Thee to Thailand, right? i know Mhok said he wanted to be a better man to deserve Rome before going back to him, but weren't they already official in front of the family ?
Why do I see this series being compared to others whose genre, and storytelling are entirely different? I don't see the point in comparing the plot or cinematography of a thriller and a comedy for example; it doesn't make much sense. Some series are made to be beautiful and profound, others just to relax and have a good time. I don't think Me and Thee pretends to be anything other than a simple romantic comedy that plays on soap opera stereotypes.
Let people enjoy what they want, and stop over-intellectualizing every piece of media you encounter, or delegitimizing it simply because it doesn't interest you personally. Not everything is meant to be extremely intelligent or philosophical, and that doesn't mean it's any less important!
