"I used to hate snow. I never had good memories of it. Shima. Thank you." — Togawa
OMG! I LOVE THIS SO MUCH!!!
The fact that I first grimaced at Togawa only to be completely gawked by his charm later, arghh! This was just a very pleasant and relaxing watch.
I was instantly drawn to its quiet, minimalist, and contemplative style—those still shots, subdued lighting, and calm atmosphere perfectly reflected the characters' internal struggles. The cinematography literally speaks for their loneliness!
And I love, love, love Togawa so much! The way he just handles Shima’s emotional walls and charms his way in, being so honest and forward—not to forget their freaking height difference?? So freaking good!
"You're trouble, seriously. I feel like doing something weird with you." — Togawa
"I knew it. It's better to eat you first." — Togawa
Not to sound bafflingly absurd, but the way Togawa just carries his inner freakiness and stands upfront was meaningfully cool. And the way most of those shady, glowing frames heightened his rugged beauty!
I love how the film embraced a silent, mature, and realistic relationship rather than an idealized romance. It highlighted their fears, the lingering self-hate, and that raw, heavy baggage. And that freaking conversation where Togawa gets hurt by Shima had me down so bad. It was honestly such a breathtaking portrayal of how anxiety can paralyze anyone—from love and hope. Shima wanting to run away because he's so scared of getting hurt again, ackk!
"Shima, it's true, your feelings are yours to have, but you don't have the right to trample on my feelings for you." — Togawa
It's so humbling to see how gradually the trust is built between these two men with painful pasts. The slow burn paid off so beautifully! I enjoyed this a lot! Shima is really just too cute!!
