Something I'm curious about: drop rate for every country dramas.
I know I gave up on kdramas (for three years now it's a f*ckfest of ordinary sexism, stupidity, made for netflix and people who didn't give a damn about kdramas 5 years ago ... gosh, just writing it remind me how pissed I am about the whole situation) but do people drop as often on Jdramas ? Lakorn ? Taiwan, Hong Kong, Indonesia ... is there a way to know the drop rate country by country ? (°o°)
Dropping recently became a thing here, but mostly it's debated when kdramas are the center of focus. I know I don't drop Jdramas often, I keep HK dramas on hold when it's not funny enough ... is it the same for others ?
Esom is a good actress. And like all good SK actresses she deserves better than another idiotic sexist romance thingy. (-_-)"
So NO ! I'm not excited, I'm pissed off by another waste of talent. Like really angered. And seeing how ordinary sexism is praised around here (even rape culture sometimes) it pisses me off even more to know it's going to be labelled as "strong woman" or like EVERY kdramas. (>_<)"
BTW: oh sang ho already proven himself to be a complete scumbag with his rape propaganda (fabricated city). And if you don't know how/why fabricated city is a rape propaganda ... sadly it just proves how much I'm right. (u_u)
Usually I don't answer on these articles, but this time it ticked me off. Already didn't care since it's a kdrama and kdramas are worthless for the past three years, but seeing the bastard behind fabricated city being brought back ...NO ! He shouldn't even be allowed to work in the industry anymore. (-_-)" And if you didn't watch it ... just don't ! It's as stupidly sexist as The Wicker man (the one with Nicolas Cage).
To finish on a positive note, for some Esom go watch Samjin Company (it's funny, nothing more but it's well made), Microhabitat (so beautiful ...) or even Queen of Crimes (strange ... but fun, even if she's a support) . (^_^)
After ep 1&2 "we must protect the pedo", ep 6 "we must protect the rapist".
I could be pissed off if the writing wasn't so awfully bad ... but I must say that I ddn't watch 'till the end, too ridiculous and off the mark.
Is there a new writer on the show ? Because in S2 (or S1) there was a similar case and the narrative was magnificent ... clearly there's a (bad) change behind the scene. :/
edit: yeah ... after FF till ep 9 (because awful is an understatement) it's crystal clear: now there's 3 writers on the show right ? Ishikawa is incoherent as hell, tachikawa is a retard this season and then is as his own plot just to reinstate him, narrative is way too different between ep 5&9 and ep 1&2 and every other ep ... no, there's problems behind the scene.
For ep 1&2 I blame covid, people couldn't act normally (and it shows) but after that covid isn't a problem anymore (and that's another subject ... covid isn't a threat in Japan ? Everybody's close to each other ... well, another subject), it's purely a writing problem and maybe an EGO problem.
I'm not sorry but tachikawa is a complete dick this season. Without spoiling, he has a line "yeah, rapist are bad, because of them we (the men) can't hit on girls anymore". Srsly ... what kind of retard says something like that ? It's so ... bleh. (u_u) It's the kind of line you put in the mouth of a character you want to be hated. So maybe he realised it and asked for his own ep and some kind of retcon/rewriting of his character (can't blame him).
Even without that ... ep 5&9 are probably the "best" (less worse than the rest to be precise) but they both dropped the ball in the end. Too politically correct, too clean, nothing bad ... why would you care ? There's no tension when you know there'll be no sad ending (hence my remark about the awful narrative).
Yeah, it's a disappointment, even if I'm not exactly a fan of the first 2 seasons (there's really good ep and some reealy bad , so I've mixed feelings). covid is partly to blame but I'm sure there's trouble we don't know about and that's ruining the show. Was expecting better than that, we'll watch till the end but on my scale it's not better than 3/10 if I'm generous. :(
Could be fun. When the fans pissed him off he made a fuck you movie (Outrage). When he was pissed about videogames he made a fuck you videogame (Takeshi no Chōsenjō). Now's the time for a final movie and a good bye ? ... Yeah, color me curious. (^_^)
All struggling woman centered drama, around a theme (food, sex, revenge, growing up, working, being a mother ...), many with comedy elements/plainly comedy drama, mostly really good (Alice no toge and Tantei no tantei are excellent but their ending sucks hard ... a shame), korean/japan and one Taiwan (Candy online) drama.
Not surprising but still disappointing to see such a dumb incoherent drama ... kdramas are dead. (u_u)
The gorilla scene ... I think this the moment it was over for good: what kind of stupid writer can write an absolute incoherent scene of this caliber ? Using so many real actors whence the writer is, at best, a 14 years old teenager making his first fanfic ... this is what you call a hold up. A pompous hold up. A complete amateurish pompous hold up.
Kim rae won deserved better. Ps: once again "strong female lead" for a stupid and kinda sexist cliche ... people really don't know what a real strong female character is. It's despairing. PPs: truth is, every character is a lazy cliche. Kinda discriminating cliche (of course if you're not beautiful you're stupid and you don't deserve respect ... this really needs to stop but this another debate) but mostly lazy and childish/uninspired cliche. I'm wondering if the "teen 15" means "reserved for people under 15" ...
In that case I supposed it's good, like twilight movies when you're a teen girl for example. As for me this one is clearly a waste of time. A pompous waste of time. Again. (u_u)
Could have been good but it's sh*tty as hell ! (>_<)"
You spend half the movie wondering "what the heck are they talking about ? What's that about ? Is this a horror show ? Is this a friendship movie ? Is this a psycho movie ? Why all the dreams ? Why the hallucinations ? WHY THE HELL THE NARRATIVE IS SO BROKEN ? RHAAAAAAAAAAA !!! ".
It's insufferable, there's a plot twist coming and ... mein gott ! Why is it so damn slow to unfold it ? MOVE FFS ! Your story is aimless, it's going nowhere like a rabid dog chasing his own tail !
Overall the movie is empty, but it all come down to the terrible director ... or the writer ? Or is it post prod ? Clearly there's a problem (the intro is a mess BTW), don't know who or what messed things up but it's not the actress' fault.
Kinda generic ... it's not bad per se but you know why you're here what you'll get.
So yeah, it's just just another tearjerking generic story already saw 2 billions times before, everything's checked (the piano, the unsaid things, the silence, the rythm ... and so on) ... Can't say I hated it but if you want a good movie you don't watch that, it's aimed at the fans of the genre. Nothing more, nothing less. Recommended for the fans, otherwise ... don't bother.
On a totally different subject I was surprised to see some rakugo, I thought it doesn't existed anymore. (°o°)
Movie about family, the old ways Vs the new generation, patriarchy being different than sexism, feminism being different than hate of men and so much more ... it's SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO good to see something like that ! Bittersweet evidently, the world is f*cked up and you can only do what you can do, but really touching and full of symbolism.
MDL ratings for me are a horrendous spectrum. I have watched most of the highest rated dramas here -> CLOY, Goblin,…
Honestly the tags aren't more meaningful: most of the time "strong female lead" is a story about a dimwit falling in love with a cold-hearted (scumbag) man. :/
If it wasn't "based on a true story" it could have been a meh comedy, but the fact that it's "based on a true story" is insulting to the people it represents. Period.
Okaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay ... this one I don't get. (^_^)"
First of all: crystal clear, it's a catastrophe. But, and that's also why it's a catastrophe ... I totally don't get the point of this movie. I think people made this movie with a goal in mind, but WTF was that goal ?!? (O_o) Two things for sure: -it's not for older gen => they don't know/give a damn about MOBA -it's not for newer gen => they don't care for a movie about MOBA (almost) not showing any gameplay.
At some point there's duel (ingame), and it's shown as ... as ... some sort of Live Dragon Ball fight ? What were they thinking ?!? (O_o) A movie about MOBA showing Live DBZ fight to illustrate a videogame ? WTF ?!? What did they smoke ? (O_O)
The saddest part: you could say "it's a movie made for newer AND older gen, so they can watch it together". Yep, you could say that. Problem is: -old people are toxic -young people are stupid Does anybody can relate to that ? The mother is a tiger mother, the son is a spoiled brat ... am I supposed to care about their story ? Plus, and maybe this is a sub problem, there's a twist in the story: somebody lied. Except she totally did not lie to anybody. And that's a drama. Something is a drama because of non existant lies.
Talk about catastrophe ... the narrative is a mess.
BTW, the idea of the evil team shown as a communist cliche ... woohoooooo, talk about subtle. XD
So yeah, there's many things to say about this movie, but the (almost) two hours I spend watching it were "WTF are they on ? For whom [s]the bell tolls[/s] this movie is made ? WTH are the DBZ scenes ?" (O___O) ".
There's some big data to be made ...
A bit of life lesson, a recipe, highlighting sake, feel good ... I like this kind of "a bit of everything" narrative. (^_^)
NO !

That and the korean industry greed making every moves possible to please the american/netflix audience is the plague of korean culture. :(
