Another sk movie tonight. Another terrible subs. Another Jin Ah character.

Too bad the subs are REALLY messed up (to the point it's no understandable sometimes) because it's ANOTHER good movie with emphasis on emotions, feelings, coping, social bonding, modern society producing loneliness ... nope, this one awfully needs good subs, there's two scenes in it which can't afford to be poorly translated/with heavy meaning.
Subs are kinda terrible buuuuuuuuut since there isn't THAT much dialogue it's somewhat understandable. Of course, since it's a drama about being a "defective" (forget boxing, there's nothing to see here), it's a shame to not have the feelings passed upon to you because of broken subs but with effort and imagination you can grasp what scenes are about.
But it'll be WAAAAAAY better with proper subs, kind of a waste to watch it without them. :/
Nakayama Yuma is catastrophic until the end too (his character made even less sense after the last twist ... he should have killed himself: useless at best, destructive at worst).
Hirosue Ryoko WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too much underused until the end too, that's a huge disappointment. Her character was so full of energy, always running/working/sweating ... and she's almost never on screen. Plus, in the end she was there because she has a vagina ... man, the story started showing a sexist society and how she struggled to prove her worth and you're ending the show with a sexist trope ? What a let down. :(
Hagiwara Masato is excellent until the end. By far the best character of the show. And the little narrative circle in the end "you're too close" => ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ !
Another interesting drama coming from WOWOW, amongst the best Jdramas, and only 12 people have watched it ... such a waste. (u_u)
The whole catastrophe part was amazing: earthquake then flood then zombies then space nazis cannibals then angry gods shooting lasers while one doctors is trying the most dangerous medical act in the human history with only a pen and one bubble gum => funny as hell, full of energy, make you scream GANBARE at screen, sweating with the characters !
Then the other part of the show ... watch a video of monkey with a bad case of diarrhea (reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_7ZyRB3-X7A ) and you'll have an accurate making off of the writing method behind this thing. Honestly, just skip it. Just don't watch. First degree story about terrorism, corrupt politicians where the characterization is "hahahaha I am bad person hahahaha" is insulting. It's more than a waste of your time, it's a brain melting thing akin to real tv (like the kardashian thingy or whatever worthless nobody is on screen 24/7 showing how dumb and/or rich they are).
This kind of show begs the questions "did they really thought that was perfect ?" or "Did somebody made a drama and then a greedy producer forced stupid things nobody asked for in it afterward ?". I can't believe how the two part of the show are so ... they're not even different, they look like two people wrote their stories without knowing each other and somebody else glued them together without rhyme or reason. A completely stupid and funny (because it's stupidly way over the top) on one hand and a totally retarded, poorly written, utterly botched over serious story where absolutely nothing make sense on the other.
A waste and a missed opportunity, it's been a (too) long time since the last catastrophe drama.

A new Wakako Zake season ? \o/ But ... why ? I'm one of the three fans in my country so I won't complain (except for the fact that there's surprisingly no subs only for the third season) but ... is it this much profitable ? Is there a Wakako phenomena I don't know about ?
Food porn drama aren't exactly popular for quite some times now (even amongst subbers, Konya wa Konoji De ... ) but this one still going on is ... kind of a shock to me. (°o°)
Anyway and as usual, thanks for talking about Japan, you're a breath of fresh once again AND giving me a reason to look for dramas (which I kinda gave up for too long), there's some interesting/promising things in there: Izakaya Shinkansen for one, Jashin no Tenbin Koan Bunseki Han and DCU later, Matsumoto Jun is back, some rakugo there and Touboui F in one month.
"it's not" kind of drama: it's not food porn, it's not feel good, it's not slice of life, it's not comedy ... what's the goal of the narrative ?
First ep is the story of a woman, whom has a meaningless life in a nonsensical world, and that's it. Yeah ... where's the ending ? As much as the character completely make sense a story needs an ending, not starting another one right in the middle of it. Way I see it (thanks the preview) from the first ep it's going to be the same kind of character meeting another character who's going to be the next ep lead, and never have any conclusions except "we're all wounded" (yeah, no shit sherlock).
I'm not against the concept (i like intertwined stories) but it furiously needs an ending, a purpose otherwise it's going to be as meaningless as the character's lives. :/
ps: i do hope there won't be any more song part ...
Good enough for a TV movie, but the ending is a complete let down. Trying to surprise is different to writing stupid pointless twists. I called this kind of bullshit "hitler riding a pink elephant shooting lasers". Sure, you don't expect this kind of twist, but it's because it's utterly stupid. :/

Fun fact: I read the other day the comms on a video about "how south korean see squid game" (spoiler: they don't like it ... nothing surprising since it's made for the american audience but anyway). What I saw was "korean needs to grow up" (yeaaaaah, nothing racist in this comms) or "korean are whinners, they don't want to see the reality of the world" (yeaaaaaah, a mature ant not racist at all comment).
The essence other comms were "korean have bad taste, we know better than them". Not from south korea people knowing better than south korean what a good south korea drama is.
This is the SK industry and the SK community in a nutshell for the past three years. (u_u)
