Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeell ... I liked the first ep, a little bit over the top but interesting. But after the fourth ep ... pfffffffffffffffffffffff, what an abyssal drop in quality. :/
It already feels too much, too far fetched, too simplistic, too gratuitous, too lazy ... and it's only the first season ? Not reassuring. :/ Will stay, but not sure it'll be 'till the end. :(
Could have been good if it weren't so baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad. (u_u)
First problem: characters. Female lead 1 was incompetent useless. Female lead 2 was a know-it-all sees it all perfection incarnated. How can you make such unimaginative characters with a straight face hoping for a good alchemy between the two of them and the pleasure of viewers ?
Problem 2: you're forced to love female lead 1. Question: WHY ? She's stupid, useless, incompetent ... FFS she's mistaking a screw with an earring ! How can somebody be so dumb and able to breath all by herself ? (>_<)
Problem 3: the narrative. All in all it's a propaganda show, made to put some light on street cops (not really the same as other country street cops, but hey, it's Japan). Hard to relate if you're not right wing or living in Japan. And the overall tone is ... it doesn't choose. It's not a comedy, its not serious, it's not sismance (characters are way too cliche and extreme to be interesting), it's a mixed bag trying to please everybody (it's a propaganda show after all). And the teasing "oamagad there is a dark past looming over female lead 2" => first ep it's boring, second ep it overstayed its (not) welcome).
So yeah, not a catastrophe, just ... not worth your time.
Ps: all the wigs on male characters ... how can you NOT make a completely over the top comedy (like Jikou keisatsu) with stupid wigs like that ? (<_<)
As old school drama watcher, I hate beyond reason what kdramas became.
The most accurate way to describe the audience they're aimed at is a comment I read some time ago: "it's good, it doesn't look like an asian show".
THIS is what SK entertainment industry is aiming at: people who want american (shit)show with asian people in it. Yeah, that's racist as hell. This is the new kind of so called kdramas fans ... I hate it, I hate them, I absolutely hate this situation. (<_<)
Plus, as you said, SKdramas are all the same now. Now, just with a poster you can tell who's gonna be what. I remember, back in the days, there's was a saying: "don't judge on the first ep". Nowadays you already seen it all in the first 5 minutes, god forbid making something different, the new audience would hate it ... especially if there's no ROMANCE !
But enough with that, even with SKdramas being the worst kind of asian dramas (china excluded, propaganda industry doesn't count as drama for me), I noticed a trend recently: Thailand is more and more present in the scene ... is Thailand going to be the new South Korea ? I hope not, I sure hope not. :/
On another subject, as old school dram watcher, I never cared about the country: each has his own style, his own ideas, his own hot topics (I miss the food drama trend, that was good moment)), his own scenes ... Asia was always more than Japan and South Korea, there's Thailand, Taiwan, Hong Kong (RIP HK culture :'( ), Indonesia. Now if you're lucky now you can even find more unrepresented country like Vietnam, Cambodia, Singapore, Malaysia or Philippines. No one is better than the other, each has something to offer ! \o/
At least for me that was what dramas (and movies) was all about: discovering another country culture, their views, hearing their language (cantonese is the most beautiful language in the world ♥) ...
i really think you should make it a review so ppl can downvote it :D
You weren't ironic, but moronic. Hence, toxic, aggressive.
A good way to describe the MDL community and the low IQ required to like this show.
See ? Being insulted doesn't feel good ain't it ? Gratuitously jumping on somebody to belitle him isn't smart ain't it ? Ho yeah, you don't care, no enough brain power to understand that THIS was ironic.
Reason why no one talk about what they think on comments, or why every show is overrated: a retarded bully mentality forbidding sharing their opinion.
Hagiwara Masato => best character by far ! ♥ On the other hand ... Nakayama Yuma ... yeah ... kinda catastrophic/out of place/nonsensical. Even ridiculous or hypocrite. But simply put: it would better without this character.
It somewhat reminds me of The Banker (South Korea drama) with Ahn Woo Yeon's character. Except AWY's character was excruciatingly useless from A to the Z and the director/writer didn't even tried to make use of him, he was just a placeholder, an actor here to attract younger audience. Other than that ... nope, Nakayama Yuma doesn't make a lot of sense and it feels like he's here to fill a space, not to play a role.
Story wise IT'S HEAVY ! The build up (first two eps) was WOOOO ... it's not often you can see a drama that takes its time to construct a world, expose the characters and the plot. There's a lot to read (Otsukaresama subber, I really appreciate the old school work with every explanation, a good way to learn a lot), and even less often can you see a drama where's there's nothing to throw out: every character is a symbol, every dialogue is a dialogue (and not some filling words), the whole story is a piece of sad history (romanticized of course) ...
Yep, this one is very good and a reminder of mine to why I love dramas. Truth be told I searched the book it was adapted from (no dice, looks like it's Japan only), the whole plot is interesting and stimulating. (^_^)
A lighthearted comedy about ... police officers not giving a damn about a serial rapist.
Yep ... you really have to explain in what way this is funny. 75% of the movie is comedy about police officers stealing cases from each other (not caring at all about victims), the last 25% is for the serial rapist in an ultra first over serious degree narrative (after 1h25 minutes of comedy it was simply out of place).
It could have been good if it was a story about petty thieves, small larceny and police officers stealing cases to be promoted. It could have been good if it was a serious movie about two small cops being the only ones caring about rape's victims.
Mixing the two, in this way, was factually a complete mistake. I really don't get what they were thinking making the story this way ...
Surprisingly good. (°o°) Humor, story, SFX, kaiju, characters (without the female lead the men would be dead \o/ ) ... nope, it's a pleasant surprise and amongst the best Gojira movie. (^_^)
Nope. Didn't watch the first season because I love Esom and I had enough with the ordinary sexism of south korean writers but now, seeing talk about a second season, it shows there's ever less reason to watch something made on american model for the american masses not fan of SKdramas.
netflix (and the skdram industry's greed) killed SKdrama. (-_-)
Blasphemy ! A Gojira movie pro army and pro mad science ! The movie is excellent but the message behind it is a freaking bullshit and a spit to Gojira's face.
You like this movie (and his message I mean) => you don't understand jack shit at what Gojira is all about. (-_-)
Unispired writing aiming to get you angry. Yep ... sorry, if I wanted to get angry I would watch the news, listen to politician bullshit or whatever making me remember how fucked up the world is.
I don't get this kind of thing, it's factually lazy as hell. I don't understand how people can like something like that: writer didn't make any effort, why should you spend your time watching it ? (-_-)
Beyond terrible. Worse than abysmal. A biblical catastrophe. (u_u)
It's not a medical drama, it can't even be called a worthless daily drama, it's just ... a pretext for a paycheck. The writer didn't put any effort in his story/characters (they aren't doctors, they're lazy cliche daily drama characters). The director didn't even try: it looks like a daily. The actors/actresses didn't try: everybody's just bored (or completely stupid, thanks the lazy writing).
No one believes in this drama, they're here for the check.
A complete waste, deserves a negative rating. (u_u)
ps: for those who don't like incoherent/unrealistic medical drama => RUN YOU FOOLS ! This one is a big joke, it's a lazy daily drama writing so the medical aspect is just here for the background.
Project S (4 shows) was an interesting idea but in the end ... the depiction of mental health issue with SOS and the depiction of autism in Side by side was REALLY FREAKING PROBLEMATIC to say the least. Cliche and out of context (to be polite, because the way autism was depicted ... no, FFS JUST NO ! ), it made the characters hateful (especially Side by side). I would recommend to watch Spike (this is how you treat homosexuality, a narrative lesson) and, mostly, Shoot I love you (really funny, not taking itself seriously).
Will check thirteen terrors, Thailand has a good take on horror story (The victim (2008 I think ?) is a good example how imaginative thai directors can be).
Only larkorn I saw recently was Long Khong (I don't watch romance, so there's not much choice ...), and it was massacred (production problems ? Covid problems ? ), cut short and wasted an incredibly good start. :'(
Maybe it's me but it seems there's way more lakorn (and Indian movie) subbed for the past month than I ever saw for years ... it's about time ! (^_^)
But after the fourth ep ... pfffffffffffffffffffffff, what an abyssal drop in quality. :/
It already feels too much, too far fetched, too simplistic, too gratuitous, too lazy ... and it's only the first season ? Not reassuring. :/

On the other hand, more chill and it'll be frozen ...

You are factually disgusting.

Didn't watch the first season because I love Esom and I had enough with the ordinary sexism of south korean writers but now, seeing talk about a second season, it shows there's ever less reason to watch something made on american model for the american masses not fan of SKdramas.
