The first ep made me excited for future eps...too bad I'm pretty sure I missed some important things without some of the subs. Hope they speed it up soon.
The controversy has quieted down for a bit, though the discussion will probably resurface whenever promo starts. It also looks like some Knetz have started to say to wait and see before cancelling, and though it's probably inevitable for the petition to reach 200k, I don't think that's necessarily a sign it will be cancelled. It just means the government will take a look at the issue, but it'd still be a pretty big move for them to force JTBC to cancel it. As international fans, it's best to just wait and see what will happen, but right now it's died down a bit.
I loove Seo Hyun Jin and Kim Young Dae is one of my fave new actors. Very excited because even though noona romance isn't usually my thing, Kim Young Dae is suited to it like in Cheat on Me If You Can.
Sigh I just want the best for the actors and team involved. It would benefit everyone if it doesn't glorify what shouldn't be glorified and is respectful and unharmful even in it being fiction. Seems like a big roadblock considering the controversy it's still facing, but maybe it's possible. What I'm most scared of is that everyone involved will get severe hate online and from knetz, and that their careers will be affected.
" “Snowdrop” is a black comedy that satirizes the presidential elections taking place in the 1980s under a…
I definitely get the concerns but it's not like we can't satirize sensitive topics...a good example is Jojo Rabbit. The thing is, neither us nor the knetz know for sure how Snowdrop will approach this storyline, so it's hard to make a conclusion right now about whether it will or will not be insensitive. Personally, I want to be optimistic and think that the network, writers, and the directors have the sense to approach this respectfully, but I get why people are still concerned. I just wish people didn't make assumptions about it and call for it to be cancelled when we haven't even seen anything yet. If it airs and it proves to be offensive like Joseon Exorcist, cancel it then.
Also Sky Castle was described as "black comedy" but didn't feel like a black comedy at all lol
Remember as international fans, we cannot comment or make judgments on the concerns because we don't have enough of an understanding of the history. Let's just hope JTBC and the Snowdrop team addresses this.
