I have to say compred to well intended love and about is love this drama is way behind... And k8nda of boring…
Really? I have finished watching about is love while at the same time having watched 14 episodes of well intended love and even tho I liked the first few episodes of about is love I skipped a lot of scenes later on. I could not even compare it with well intended love despite some similarities because I thought well intended love was better in all aspects.
So I am not really sure if I will like this one since you say it is boring compared to about is love, which I found boring compared to well intended love. What a mess! XD
I guess I will give it a try and decide for myself.
Dramas like this one are the reason why even tho I first got to know the drama world thanks to my many years of watching animes, I take kdramas, cdramas and even thai dramas over jdramas any day. I just keep seeing things in jdramas that completely get on my nerves, and this one was no exception:
- female lead with no self-respect (women in general seem to have little of it in jdramas) that wags her tail at the sight of the male lead and completely ignores any other male that is around even if they are actually more decent people compared to the male lead; - male lead that seems oh so perfect but is actually kind of a jerk; - (romantic) relationships and other people’s feelings are taken lightly; - when the main characters are not sure about their feelings or are in a "bad place", they use "substitutes" without thinking how that will only hurt them, the people they are using and their actual love interest. Come on, going around kissing and having sex with other people is not going to make you feel better, make you forget the person you "love" or clear your doubts about the way you feel. If you are not in a good place or are not sure how you feel just give it some time and you will find out. Unzipping your pants is NOT the answer.
Ok, I am done with my rant. These are just some of the things I see way too often in jdramas. It is not that they don’t happen in dramas from other countries, but rarely all happen in the same drama. Unfortunately I have seen all of these happen in the same jdrama, once and once again and it just annoys me to no end. I hate people who take their feelings, other people’s feelings and relationships lightly. I see these things already way too often in real life so seeing them in the drama world which is supposed to be my "good place" completely puts me off.
Conclusion: Watch at your own risk, maybe you will like it. The first half or so is easier to take. But when it comes to me, this definitely was not my cup of tea and I would not recommend it to anyone really.
Is it a real decent eng sub ? Iam having a hard time on youtube with all those crazy good translate style subbs…
There is this person who did really good subs on youtube but the videos were recently removed for copyright infringement so that person is trying to find another way to share them. Probably using a facebook group.
it's taking me forever to finish this -_- I wish the entire drama was set in Cuba. The first 2 eps were the most…
I personally think that the main problem is the story was not made for a 16 hours long drama. This would have been perfect as a movie with 3/4 of the movie being set in Cuba.
I felt like I was watching a movie. One with amazing cinematography, a beautiful love story and equally beautiful sights and music. Had this been a movie, it would have been really good and I would probably consider re-watching it several times in the future.
The only problem - it was not a movie, it was a 16 hours long drama. So all the amazing things about it were overshadowed by the many hours of nothingness in between the romantic scenes that were often also stretched longer than they had to be. The personality and actions of a lot of the supporting characters were nothing new to me and other than the romance there was not much to make me stick to the story. Even the romance, as beautiful as it was, it was not that interesting to watch. Their love story, like I previously said, would have been perfect in a 2 hours long movie. But in a drama I felt it did not shine.
Now, I am not saying that the drama is not good. I am sure some people really liked it and it might even be one of their favourite dramas. But personally, I lost interest in it really fast. Yes, I did complete it, but it took me weeks when usually it would have taken me a couple of days to watch the entire thing.
So, again, I am not saying it is not good or that you should not waste your time watching it. I just think I (personally) would have enjoyed it a lot more had it been a movie.
Where did you watch and did they have english subs? Thanks.
I watched it on dramanice and downloaded episode 6 somewhere else since episode 5 was uploaded twice by mistake there. I will paste the link to where I downloaded episode 6 in the spoiler below.
P.S. - And yes, all episodes have english subtitles.
You know a drama is going to be draggy and boring when you are 4 episodes in and it is still the same day in the drama world. Yup, the day that we are shown in the first episode which is when the main leads first meet, it is still that same day when you get to the 4th episode yet not much had happened by then. Also, the cover picture and Romance tag are not to be trusted. The clothes they are dressed in relate only to their job and not really to their romantic relationship which is almost non existent, extremely slow paced and boring and with almost no physical contact. You go through 44 episodes of conversations and a few hugs and that is it.
What a waste of time! Glad I skipped as much as possible as I was almost falling asleep while watching it. I honestly gave this a chance and kept watching but other than watching the characters work there is not much to this drama.
Honestly, I had no expectations when I started watching this and yet I was still disappointed. I felt that other than bringing to the present 3 handsome emperors, there was not much to the story. Even the romance between the female lead and her chosen emperor (whose name I am not revealing so not to spoil it) was not as good as it could have been.
I felt the drama was lacking in several departments and was overall not that good that it would stand out from other chinese dramas. I was quite bored while watching it, especially after the first few episodes, which were a little better than the rest of the drama.
The ending was as other people have stated, the typical chinese drama ending and I am sure most are not happy about that. I know a second season is supposed to happen but I am not sure if it is even worth to give it a try since the first season was not that impressive.
I think they were not really going for the concept of logic. It is tagged as a makjang after all so over the top…
The definition of makjang IS ridiculous. If you search the meaning of it that is what it says. Ridiculous, over the top, frustrating, causing feelings and emotions in the viewer, be it good or bad ones but mostly bad. I have seen a few makjangs that I thought were good but I rarely watch dramas of this kind. Usually I watch dramas that make me feel good, and makjangs usually do the opposite.
And yes, you are right, this one exceeded all expectations when it comes to making people feel frustrated. It was a makjang, that was for sure. Both characters and story were intended to cause the viewers to feel strong emotions, mostly frustration. XD
If only I can rate it a 0 ????. Don't bother..the drama is the worst of all ..even worse than The heirs. Any unbiased…
I think they were not really going for the concept of logic. It is tagged as a makjang after all so over the top ridiculous things were expected.
Was it a good drama that I would re-watch? No. But as frustrating and ridiculous as it was I felt compelled to watch it until the end just so I could find out how much more frustrating it could get. XD
This is definitely not for everyone’s taste. Some people loved it, some people thought it was not that good but felt it was addictive so they watched until the end although they would not re-watch it (like me) and some people were expecting it to make sense and have a smart logical plot, which does not happen (I guess you would be part of this last group).
I'm not totally mad at the ending, just a little sad that Wang Shik didn't get even a flaking-Voldemort disappearance.…
You should probably mark this as a spoiler. I also commented on the ending and have a similar opinion but you might have revealed too much about a particular character’s ending and that might spoil the fun for someone who has not watched it yet.
