Hi guys, can ya'll recommend me some good webdramas to watch so i can wait for the next episodes? I'm not looking…
StartUP is a recent addition to Netflix originals and has some interesting twists with Bae Suzy and Nam Joo-Hyuk. It is excellently done, contemporary, and Kim Seon-Ho, the second male lead nearly steals the show. He is so expressive that it is impossible to not watch him: this time will he be a helper, a jerk, or the disengaged business guru? Some of the fans wish he had has been ML #1. The main actors are all terrific and their characters are very engaging. I've known people just like them in my thirty-five+ years in American business: the good, the great, the thieves, abusers, and slackers, with the side note of many relationships or marriages formed and some broken due to the closeness and/or the pressure.
I loved the storyline, having worked in a couple of start-ups, so I found it both exciting to watch their progress and dramatic when they made and lost progress as real businesses do. It has a satisfying, yet poignant conclusion. I found it easy to become involved with the main cast and several of the secondary actors who were solid frames around the series. Shout outs to Kim Hae-sook - always a standout performer - and Seo Yi-Sook, leader of the SandBox. I love these two ladies who are always the epitome of the individuals they engender, and whom we can recognize in our lives at home or in business. Wonderful acting all around!!
agreed! i have only seen him in this and Rookie Historian and i definitely preferred his acting in RH! i still…
"Rookie Historian" is one of my favorite series where Cha Eunwoo is excellent in his role. I can't imagine anyone else doing as well in demonstrating progressive growth from lack of experience to a true understanding of his situation. He demonstrates each new experience perfectly as he has new experiences with the world in which his character lives. When he's on-screen in "RH", I always believe he's a prince who has real-life relationships with the individuals in the scene with him, especially his favorite librarian, brother, father, grandmother, and his eunuch. When many people are negative about actors (either sex) often forget that the Directors are the controlling god whose will must be obeyed in any filming situation. Actors do not have authority when it comes to how their characters are played, yet repeatedly we see them denigrated, especially women actors. So, when we don't see a situation played on screen in the manner we want, all blame must be given to the directors who make every decision.
At least one of her 'hot male costars became serious and married her: Lee Sang Woo. They met during the long 2016…
Well, Tanya, this is a couple whom I read about and whose series I plan to watch. All I can say about how I research (which I have done as a major part of my profession), is to search for a name or the couple's names for at least ten pages on Google. Other search engines are generally not as powerful. When I was doing research for a personal passion project on Richard III of England, I probably searched 20+ pages, bought and read nearly thirty books, and finally tracked down information (through the process of eliminating possibilities) that I had not seen anywhere else. So, I was deeply satisfied after six decades of curiosity. But, the other side of the issue, is that I have not often found the information I want the most to be at the top of popular articles. Most of the things that have interested me developed deep roots of centuries, so it generally means a lot of digging and following false or empty trails before you begin to find the truth. I have always pretended to be Sherlock Holmes and have used his methods. Have fun!! : )
Good article. I would agree to all other than number 4. The thing about childhood trope is that if it really is…
"The thing about childhood trope is that if it really is important to the plot and how the character growth through out the whole drama then I would be fine with that." When a series opens (in the first episode) with two children being involved and included in every following episode as the main leads, that it is the backbone of the story; its plot is intrincly knitted into the body of work and everything flows through it. An genuine example of fate, coming out of nowhere and disappearing again, is the one couple in Cinderella & Four Knights, which is a detriment and irritation to the other parts of the plot. Whenever those two actors came on screen, especially the whiny, milk toast, I need rescuing every minute, I had to fast forward past them, especially past that female character. This was the series where I found Park So-dam and Jung Il-woo, who made the difference in continuing to watch the series, which was an interesting idea, yet - in my mind - only a few parts seemed like real people. Whether it was the writer or director, or both, I felt there were some pathetic choices in characterizations and dialog.
2013's "I Hear Your Voice" is a strong example of children in trouble that begins in Act 1, Episode 1 and provides the footprint for everything that follows. The ML (played by Lee Jung Suk) never forgets the experience or the older girl who testified at the trial. He is traumatized and haunted by the experience as much as many soldiers were - whom I have known - from jungle warfare in Viet Nam. This is his story and he's the driver; although, our fearless female is an extremely driven character on her own. In WYWS, Jung Woong In plays (or, inhabiting) the villian role perfectly. I've watched the series three times and still find him frightening, so the ending was both a surprise and a revelation.
If it does not work when you click on it, then you will need to copy and paste it into the xubject line. This article talks about a reality show they were on, but I didn't search for the program to watch it. Just put in the name of the show after their names and the show will probably come up. Or, try putting in their names and another word after it like: projects? work? dramas?
Tanya, there is not much more I can do for you. Right now I have health issuses (not Covid-19 because I have not left my house since March except for medical visits) and my life has taken interesting turn that keeps me busy. I have done my best to help you - as a fan of different people than mine - I know how we feel when we want to know they are okay during this time. C-19 has knocked us all backward because everything is different. I do hope you will stay well and safe. Best wishes! ?
At least one of her 'hot male costars became serious and married her: Lee Sang Woo. They met during the long 2016…
Tanya, I found so much information about her and her husband by putting their names in the subject line of YouTube. There was no specific article that I remember; in addition, I only do it from a temporary interest, not as a fan. Best wishes on doing the same.
I'm half way through and it's enjoyable enough but the screaming... omg...the screaming... make it stop! There…
While I never watch Elm street or Halloween, I have been sitting here for several minutes debating ever seeing a series whith the scream in it again (after her roles in KMHM and She Was Pretty. I watched both for Park Seo Joon because he does everything so well and with total conviction, plus he gets all shade of humor perfectly, and never comes near the fatal "too much" effort. I've watch Hwarang seven or eight times since January because I love Seojoon, Park Hyungsik, Go Ahra, and Choi Minho, only discovering in August that Kim Taehyung was V with BTS. I hope that Teahyung will eventually have some time in the next decade to act again, after his vulnerable - and equally powerful - role as Seo-Joon fanboy in Hwarange.
Is this a lot better than „seven of Me“ because i also only watched the chinese remake 2 years ago and i‘m…
Datamiya. what did you think of it? I have watched KMHM three more times because I love the humanity, kindness, and compassion + the sometimes, hilarious humor shown through out.
CLOY is the best modern rom-com drama I have ever seen! ^^
Bella Anne, thank you for the friendship request from you. I stopped using social media in 2014 when my computer became infected. After the challenges getting my computer sorted out, and the pain of having things go sideways with the people I was meeting online, I have chosen to just have conversations when they arise about similar topics, lie these dramas.
For instance, I've seen or read of two people no explaining that they love cold people with warm hearts. The dramas that you have listed as favorites were no ones I could enjoy, for the same reason that you love them. I can't understand how Captain Ri would be considered in this category.
I see Captain Ri as a very warm person from the beginning. His initial smile as he watched her in the tree and then his deliberate tying of her hair were - for me - green lights that he was going to be easy for her to win. He was never the immovable object that science speaks of in physics because we watched him go down very easily, like dominos. In neurolinguistics, he would be considered a highly susceptible candidate for hypnosis. She began telling him her story, exactly like she lived it, but he could not believe her. It wasn't that he didn't want to believe her; it was simply that her life and culture was completely foreign to him. She, on the other hand, believed everything he said along the way until they were well towards the end of her stay when she realized he was not merely saying to convenient things to cover her situation. She knew that he told enough tales to ne a spy, although he was not. And, it's hard to image that he could be since he only lies in emergencies.
At least these are how I view the series and men in general. if there are other series you enjoy, I don't mind looking at pros and cons as long as respect is at the table. I know it is possible because I have been s[ending time at the official BTS YouTube and Instagram websites when people are almost all thoughtful and dedicated to some amazing individuals. Have you watched Hwarang with Park Seo-joon and Park Hyung-Sik?
CLOY is the best modern rom-com drama I have ever seen! ^^
Bella Anne, I absolutely agree about the power of a strong female lead being a wonderful draw when she has an equally powerful man as a foil. Last night I accidently came across a long stream of highlights from CLOY and again feel the draw to spend time with the gang for the ninth or tenth time. There are so many hooks from the most heart touching clips of their various meetings to her calls to his office for sundry needs for a bath or of him buying her products at the open air market; "I'll just take them all." And the countless good-byes that ultimately meant tossing out finger hearts, leading to his annoyance over her "multiple hearts," and his pouting in bed. I always fall over seeing his face screwed up like that, with such huge disappointment written on it and his fierce puppy-dog eyes! How DID the crew keep quiet while they filmed that scene?
They were both so brilliant together and may not even be at the top of their craft. I'd love for the production company to give us six or eight more episodes to bring them full circle. I made a suggestion on a job transfer that could solve their dilemma without compromising either country in response to Arshi's chain just below this one. : )
At first i ignored this drama for a while but yesterday i saw a short clip about vending machine and wanted to…
Well, I'm glad that you were able to see it because I've watched almost a dozen times and - like others on this page - feel that it is the most complete drama I've seen in many years. My personal take on Captain Ri's situation is that he would eventually be given permission to join Section Eleven (or Thirteen?) in Seoul to work as a cultural attaché with the Symphony with the occasional visit to the capitol in N. Korea, His family obviously had enormous clout, so that's my fantasy for their happiness. Obviously, they would have to visit Switzerland annually for the youth concerts that Se-ri's family was sponsoring. It would be incredible if they developed a sequel (without villains) so we could have a more satisfying closure.
There is an excellent ending (Hyun Bin and Son Ye-Jin, after all) - though there are some seriously challenging…
Evidently they do have different accents because everyone learns to speak mimicking her or his parents. We moved to Brazil two months before I turned four years old and lived there exactly 36 months. My dad was assigned to some protocol duty with the Navy in at the capital at that time, so we all learned Portuguese. For the two babies born while we were there, they only knew the native language, so they had to learn English when we returned to the US. Dad's next assignment was in Texas and we eventually gained a Texas accent over the Portuguese one. Living in Brazil, then visiting Trinidad and Mexico gave us a broader sense of how many people can live in gorgeous locations with less amenities and have lives with less conveniences, yet perhaps they are richer in defferent ways because their communities and families may be closer in knowing and supporting each other.
Basically accents ardeveloped within an area or region in which people live and if they are influenced by outsiders. People living in poor areas without much transortation will only have the local accents, while people living in urban areas and cities are greatly influenced by electronic media, current slang, accents from their schools and neighborhoods, and international programming and films. Children living in Switzerland and Eastern France beginning learning five languages from infancy because they constantly hear Swiss, French, German, Italian, and English. In watching travel shows on TV over the years, there would be occasions when a tourist group would stop a child playing with others and ask a question and the child would answer in the language of the individual asking. If another person in the group, spoke in a different language (one of these five), the child would answer in that language. These five languages come from two basic sources that were alive and well in the time of Julius Caesar: Latin (Italian, French, Spanish, and Portuguese), and Germanic (all the languages north and east of the French border, up through Scandanavia, and the UK. Once the children learned Swiss and French, the root language of all the country territories on the ocean and for most of coastal Europe would be either the Latin or Germanic forms. It would be like drinking different types of liquids (bases of milk, fruit, vegetable, and teas made from roots, seeds, or leaves).
The saddest thing that I knew about North Koreans, as that for a few decades there were areas of starvations and the beautiful black hair that most people would have would only belong to the rich or the military. Severe malnutrition results in bright red hair and lost teeth, as well as organ failures. I knew a couple people who were on commissions to take bulk food supplies for women and children; however, the many truck loads went to the Army for defense purposes. Photos proved that everyone was starving except for the most important and/or richest people.
In "Hwarang", the extremely popular (though not as highly rated series), the following actors were required to participate in a shower scene where they were supposedly naked (ignore the merest glimpse of a swimming brief waist) AND they had to do some dancing. The men participating included Park Seo-joon, Park Hyung-sik, Choi Min-ho, Do Ji-han, Jo Yoon-woo, and Kim Tae-hyung (V). Although, at first glance, they appeared in fine shape, I always look at their feet dancing on wet flooring and each time wonder if anyone had fallen and injured himself. No matter how often I have watched for the entertainment, as a longtime risk manager at several companies, the only feeling that scene elicits from me is anxiety. Dealing with workplace accidents (and the rare death) is always a major issue for employers.
However, to the point: prior to watching "Hwarang" - regardless of the streaming service (Viki has it at this time), the initial "episode zero" is an hour+ of these leading men talking about series highlights with BTS' V as the discussion leader. When the shower scene came on, V immediately asked how many of them 'did not' like the shower scene. All said that they "DID NOT" like it, and a couple jumped up to add comments, giving emphasis to having been embarrassed and uncomfortable. They were clearly against having to do it, yet no one mentioned being forced into it. Not making condemning statement within recording is part of understanding where you are located, who is watching and/or listening to you, and what you want to risk with identifying individuals. The nature of the beast is that film and television producers have the responsibility to obtain funding to afford all the relevant costs of the production. They apply pressure to the directors - though many easily agree – that beautiful young or mature people showing more - or all - of their skin raising ratings. What they do not count is the payment by the actors who feel a loss of soul and/or life control. Hwarang certainly had so many handsome men in it.
The matter of cameras gazing in an unneccessary manner as they pan very slowly up and down actors’ bodies is quite different from static camera's set in two or three locations to capture the scene and then, being cut later. Slow moving cameras are as purposely intrusive as they feel obnoxious to some viewers. I have no idea how often Korean actors and actresses sign contracts when (by the series or film; or are they done by a year or number of series or films? Or, because they belong to a studio or agency, In America, when new or longtime actors have starred in a hugely profitable and popular films or series, they will often demand control of their contracts. Other countries may not grant actors the freedom to protect themselves based on age, sex, or race, etc.
In the U.S., if the actor doesn't gain agreement for control, many will their try to break their contacts through attending a shoot, but refusing to actually get in front of a camera "out of fear" they "will be forced into something unacceptable". Others will become "ill and not able to show up. Most of those people simply want to negotiate. But there have been actors who make a contract with a Company B and plan to make a film with them. This might be with an independent company that is not too interested in the rules. The actor may renege and return to the original company if they give in and sign a new contract agreeing to demands. And, some will go with the second company, because contracts demanding actors' yield their bodies in our current age have far less power than five or ten years ago. In the same context, individuals need to be free to become involved in high-risk business with their bodies, if that is their choice. The issue needs to be about freedom of choice, rather than about audience enjoyment.
Forcing unpleasant decisions on men, women, or children through intimidation or emotional pressure is wrong in many ways for numerous reasons. U.S. Courts have a long tradition of recognizing the right of individuals to have control over their own bodies, especially those who are vulnerable as inexperienced young people and children often are. In situations like this, my concern would be that Courts may be inclined to decide only by the rule of Law and to be haphazard about justice. A 2019 film - “Juror 8” - with Park Hyung-Sik, is an excellent example of how trials can work for the innocent or for the guilty. This wonderful film is based on the fact of Law and is also able to include genuine justice for the vulnerable. While the issue being tried in “Juror 8” has no similarity to actors breaking contracts to gain control of their personal rights, the same processes are used to determine evidence and a verdict. Individuals ought to not be forced to bargain on the use of their bodies for employment; and they ought to be able to make their own choices for what they want to do with their lives and their responsibilities.
At least one of her 'hot male costars became serious and married her: Lee Sang Woo. They met during the long 2016…
Tanya, I don't know if So Yeon was in out public during her pregnancy for photos to be taken or, if she was, whether anyone cared to take her picture. Most women aren't going to remove their clothes in part or totally for photos of their baby bumps, although many who are public figures may have ones taken when they are wearing form fitting clothing. I enjoy her acting very much and only answered Tip's question because it was so open ended and I had worked with young women who had pregnancy concerns.
Perhaps you might to search for photos or an announcement through a hundred or so pages on the Internet and might find something. Whatever the result, the fact is that So Yeon and Sang Woo have a gorgeous, sweet looking little daughter who has the best features of both parents. I wish them health and joy as parents! : )
At least one of her 'hot male costars became serious and married her: Lee Sang Woo. They met during the long 2016…
What? Too much detail? It's an occupational hazard and you had two question marks. I was amused, and momentarily wondered how one had a baby without becoming pregnant, and instantly remembered a few of our American actresses.
If you meant to be ironic, I apologize for not responding appropriately. I taught the facts of pregnancy to so many teenage women in waiting, and to some who were already married who didn't know if they had caught it yet. For some, it seemed like a dreaded disease, so they had some fascinating ideas about prevention. Anything that might work except using proven methods because they felt too embarrassed to ask for bona fide contraceptives.
Oh, well . . . . something more to laugh about. Thanks.
At least one of her 'hot male costars became serious and married her: Lee Sang Woo. They met during the long 2016…
He's now 40 and she is 39; they were in the mid-30s when they got married in June 2017. Yes, it seemed that So Yeon chose to carry and deliver their daughter naturally. Some women do not want to hire surrogates so they won't lose their figures. They want to carry and deliver their infant personally. It appeared that they were happy to begin a family in their first year or so after their wedding. Women can regain their figures by eating healthy during their pregnancies and, if possible, continuing exercise.
There are many options for safe deliveries now and fathers tend to bond more with their wives and infants through family births. There is also no guarantee that a surrogate won't decide to keep the infant - even with official contracts, etc. - and most Courts will honor their desires above the families because "She" is the mother of the infant in the Court's viewpoint. This has resulted in very sad and/or tragic situations. The issue may never be a question for most families wanting children, so we hear more often of famous women entertainers preferring surrogates.
When the father has donated his sperm to create the baby in a bottle, and they decided to use the surrogate's egg rather than the mother donating her egg with the surrogate only being a host for both parents' biological infant. The old fashion way is not only more romantic; it is also legally sound for the family.
While some women have challenges with their pregnancy cravings, others will choose to eat the foods or sweets in moderation, using their will or won't power to resist what tastes great and messes with your body. They want to continue looking and being healthy their entire pregnancy. So Yuen looked gorgeous afterward and they look very happy in any photos you can find.
I made it all the way through episode 11, but I was pretty underwhelmed compared to everyone else. Did anyone…
The family issues do tend to bog down a bit, but the story continues at a fairly rapid engaging pace. If you give it up, you will kick yourself for missing this excellently written love story. It is one of the best that I've ever seen and speaking from 50+ years as a film lover of all kinds and several countries' film productions is saying something.
Probably. While I adore the first couple, I wish that the second one has more time together. Seo Dan's life was much better when she finally unhooked her dreams from Captain Ri. Even alone, she will be better, yet I can't imagine how such an intelligent, beautiful woman would remain alone forever without friends and/or a sweetheart.
I loved the storyline, having worked in a couple of start-ups, so I found it both exciting to watch their progress and dramatic when they made and lost progress as real businesses do.
