He's an amazing actor and for a handful of dramas, he won every prize that Korea gives for talent, plus the popular…
I can't watch anything that has horror, blood, gore, graphic violence shown, or basic cruelty to humans or animals. Two many years of wanting to see people healed and there are some who will never be. I can understand not wanting to watch it because it is a painful series, yet I will say that Park Yoo Chun's character is one that crystalizes how real, genuine love acts toward the loved ones. He leaves his home as a fifteen-year-old because he had begged his father to find his girlfriend and save her and dad's concept of "save" was to falsify her death, when she was injured and being transported to Europe for safety with the woman who had kidnapped her, Not that the woman, was a jewel, but she was getting the two kids (including PYC's still unknown young uncle) out of harm's way from his murderous father. He went to live with his girlfriend's mother and the detective had taken them in when they became homeless. The detective had fallen for him as a future son-in-law and was a very tender-hearted man who had made a terrible error, so he "owed" it to the mom and kidnapped daughter to give them food and shelter. Our fourteen-year-old begins calling his girlfriend's Mom(-in-law-to-be) his 'lover" because no one has loved him since his mother died when he was much younger. It is very sad and the series never gets too light-hearted.

This is as painful as watching the C-Drama, "Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace", which is similar to the Stories of the Yanxi Palace and based on the same Emperor. Even the setting, clothing, scenery, wagons, boats, etc., are magnificent, I felt overwhelmed with sadness for Ruyi, the Emperor's true love before he got the throne. Once that happened, it was a constant catfight and reminded me why I would pledge to a sorority in university. It was so sad with some women messing with possible conceptions and killing babies (because of the desire that only their son would inherit. It was the darkest, saddest, most lushly plotted and best-acted series *80 episodes) performance from everyone. By Episode 40, my chest began to tighten and at first, I wondered if I was getting bronchitis again after years of clear breathing. Then I realized that I can fight like a dragon for others, but still struggle to do it for myself. Ruyi is like our same-age Girl Scout leader and her heart is aching but she'll never put it on you. I had to stop watching because it felt like was not going to end well. The Chinese do that often.
But this one, being Korean, would have a good ending, I thought that they could not write that my love and tenderheartedness into his role and not work it out in a satisfactory manner. That was like PYC's character with his Mom-in-law-to-be. He played it so well (Tender Loving Care) that you'd totally believe he was orphaned and this formerly homeless woman took him in, fed him, clothed him, gave him a bed, and raised him from age fourteen while she waited for her daughter to return home. So, someday when you feel that you want a cat and rat mystery with terrific actors and lots of depth in each role, this will be a good one. It goes so fast that I was put my cell alarm on to remind me to eat. After a couple of weeks, I watch Episode 80, said: "Yes, Sherrill, you were SO right!" Then I cried for all the Ruyi/s of history, whatever their country and timeframe. I drank some hot Earl Gray, and forgot it, until thinking - just now - of what is worst, much darker, than "Missing You" / "I Miss You".

Please let me know what you think of whenever you watch it. : )

"I Miss You" is another title of the same series, which Viki carries. Because of my professional and personal background, I did not find it as disturbing as others have written about it. Yet, also, because of my professional background in social services that covered the complete range of human issues of nearly forty years, I expected the rape, which takes place off-screen after the rapist had used a heavy narcotic beforehand. Much of the horror occurs because of what we imagine and what we believe PYC's younger character is seeing happen to his girlfriend. Even though I expected it to happen when she fearfully, unthinkingly goes to save him, the result is quite painful and deeply emotional to hear. And then, she suffers from being kidnapped by a woman who has a traumatized younger boy that the girl saved from a fire. I was thankful that the writer and director did not place other burdens on her like unwanted pregnancy, disease, etc. The worst, eventually, is that she doesn't see her mother for several years.

There is much that is really painful rather than disturbing I cried during that scene and a couple of others. Especially, for the damage to one of the actors whose character had been so badly used by his adult-half brother. but all of the psychological stuff was primarily done to the child/uncle of the hero (PYC's part). I worked at the community mental health center for a few years; some people are not able to overcome the dame done to them as children that there no hope for them. Yet, many professionals believe that a small percentage are genuinely born already damaged as psychopaths like Ted Bundy who was known to have raped and murdered In this case, they are directly relating it the horrid child abuse done him as an adolescent.

The conclusion is completely unique to any murder mystery I have ever seen in that the reframe the entire experience to capture what might have been healthy relationships is that early damage had not been son. Although he isn't seen in the brief scene, the fact includes that the key villain of the series, the true monster, would not have been that creature. I personally know what it's like to have lived in a family where so much damage has been done that three generations suffered from it. So the ending was a beautiful statement that some things in real life - as in reel life - not ever to be, so we have to be genuinely courageous in our decisions to not take those violent paths as solutions. I have thought of the series quite a lot because of how there were some experiences in my life that were bitterly hard, yet I felt God helped me to work through them by helping others who had also been injured in the same ways. I've been very grateful for the decades for being available to people needing assistance. Each person was also a contributor to me in (gradually) learning how much faith people have in reaching out to another (unknown) person for understanding and support. I became much better at it also.

We don't have to bleed all over others to say that we have experienced what they are experiencing. It's far better to be quiet and listening to their pain and grief, without telling them what they need/must do. People will ask for help about their personal situations (What are you feeling you need?) and will tell you what would be helpful. They don't want to have someone fix them. They want ideas that might fit their needs and will be stronger feeling that the listener believes they can do it . . . . because the listener has done (whatever) they will be doing to become stronger. The "wounded healer" was a basic principle in learning how to be a support (not a rescuer) to others in my Master's level counseling training.

I was impressed with the scope of the series and that once again, Mr. Park created a very strong, memorable character based on the totally amazing work done by the two teenage actors in 2012: 12-year-old Kim So Hyun (brilliant!) and 14-year-old Yeo Jin Goo (equally excellent!) All of the actors were very good and definitely identifiable types of people I have seen before at my agencies (though not personally worked with the most criminal.) I will definitely watch it again.

it's actually amazing how male actors get away with so much Park Yoo Chun -> toilet fetishLee Byung Hun -> Mr.…
Amastris, although I have removed my objections to what you have said and done in this conversation stream, it is not because I regret speaking in Park Yoo Chun's favor' Your effort is not even admirable, that you've needed to spend so much time and effort in beating a man who had - for the last five+ years - not been able to practice his craft. And, so obvious that you want it to stay that way. If you were more concerned about the individual he had to recompense and less about fomenting future damages to his career, you would have let things go. Few people had more than a passing interest, anyway.

To me it has seemed like you a shill at a blazing car wreck, hawking pain and suffering - partly for the sake of taking people back to the time of the innocent defendant's misery, shouting: "Oh, DON'T LOOK HERE (point, point, point), BUT, PAY ATTENTION TO this actor who SHOULD NEVER HAVE A DAY IN HIS LIFE UNCHAINED from the extortion trial. After all, if you can dictate to everyone what we ought to say, think, or believe about the "healthy youth in performance arts", why wouldn't the same apply to someone you hate so much. You are not about Justice and Truth. You are just another smoking gun of VENGENCE.

When we lived in Texas, we were always warned about getting too close to snakes for the damage they can do, even if they don't kill you. This has been a good reminder.

I agree that the awards are a validation of what we've seen and admired. It's just that I had become so disenchanted and bored with American films - except independents where people with talent and intelligence are often alive and well. And, having accidentally found K-Dramas on YouTube in September 2019, was charmed and often mesmerized. I have loved foreign - to Americans - films since I was a kid many decades ago, I began the usual process of looking at all of the series and films of actors I admired. Many are in their thirties and forties, but a good share in the twenties. And then, there are the terrific character actors who can add so much! My favorites are two men who are in so many series and films: Kim Won Hae and Sung Dong-Il. Plus, several amazing women who are probably on stage also, with how gifted they are. So, after watching three of Park Yoo Chun's series in a row, I decided to find more information about him and saw all the recognition he had received, which was a huge amount. I look at it as verification for my impression, yet as you say, the awards are validation, not a substitution for our perception. : )

Being a Korean celeb must be so scary..Great if things go well but if the public shuns you,you are a pariah..I…
He's an amazing actor and for a handful of dramas, he won every prize that Korea gives for talent, plus the popular ones. I was appalled to find out about the things he has gone through and not having worked five+ years, plus taking drugs because his world crashed and burned, being caught quickly, and tossed on the garbage by his agency. Zero Tolerance does not need to be translated as Zero Mercy, but that is how most businesses choose to do it. When I was in charge of HR at several companies, the plan was first intervention + acceptance of the program + success + remaining employed. If the program was refused or failed, then termination was immediate. Hiring and training are the two main costs per employee, and for someone as valuable as Mr. Park, I was shocked that they made no effort.

I only discovered his work a couple of weeks ago and find him extremely compelling to watch because everything he does seems is so real to the story. His attitude in Sungkyunkwan Scandal was quite off-putting, to begin with. It was almost as if he had Aspergers' Syndrome, but not quite. I suddenly realized that he didn't seem to have been socialized in regular situations and simply spoke from logic. Eventually, with his roommates ignoring his challenges, he lightened up and learned to expand his thinking and skills. It was beautifully done with no prissy 'acting' involved. In the Rooftop Prince, I found his Crown Prince so annoying and pretentious the first few episodes until she begins sorting out things, then I loved him for showing some unexpected sensitivity, One that really got to me was two-parts with excellent teen actors to begin and then the adults, "Missing You." That was a tragedy all the way around and the most intense I've seen in ages, yet brilliant. I totally loved the actress who played the mom (for everyone who showed up.)

The Girl Who See Scents was very clever and engaging; it was one I had put off for a year because the title seemed silly. By three/quarters through, I was yelling at the screen, "Get that gal a badge and some training!!" I know people speak a lot about chemistry, yet it has always seemed like the biggest problem would be ego. If people are open and friendly, that is the best beginning. I'm so glad that there are still a few series and some films to watch. Hopefully, this film will be something that allows him some range and is better than the title.

Creature, Lee Byung Hun and Park Yoochun were completely cleared of all allegations of wrongdoing against four women in public trials, during which it was proven that both sets of women and a couple of male partners on each side had been extortionists blackmailing Mr. Lee in 2014 and Mr. Park in 2016. They were all sentenced to prison. In the eighteen months that I have been following K-Pop, there have been several men (actors and idols) who have lost their trials and been sentenced.

Mr. Park, who had worked with almost no time off for years, suffered from the emotional stress of the lengthy trial and slander, injury to his reputation, and career, and then - unfortunately - began using drugs to calm down. The only person who was hurt was Mr. Park and he has paid plenty for it. He hasn't worked as an actor for over five years and this current film seems to have a title and his name as lead; nothing else.

i wish he’d retired from the industry permanently.
Park Yoochun is the most amazing actor in that he manages to create individuals who seem to be thoroughly real and completely authentic. The list of awards that he has won represents everything that Korea has to give talented people, so his profession certainly has recognized his ability in the past. Yes, I so agree with you. Park Yoochun is the most amazing actor in that he manages to create individuals who seem to be thoroughly real and completely authentic. I have no awareness of him "acting" in any of his series or films. In the Rooftop Prince, I found him to be really annoying for a few episodes because of his refusal to adapt, even when it was obviously the only thing to do - given life in the 21 Century - and the unknown surrounding him. But, then, the people who believe they are "completely entitled" to anything they want are never found among my best friends, Or, worst enemies. I hope that this movie is worth his time and talent. The list of awards that he has won represents everything that Korea has to give talented people, so his profession certainly has recognized his ability in the past, plus he's only 34, with time to do some fine work again. We can pray and wish him the best.

Wasn't she also embroiled in some plagiarism controversy?
Yes, in the Wikipedia information there were some issues about her copying clothing designs, which she strongly refuted, The reporting isn't clear about the results. It does seem as though she's a very creative person and unfortunately, many creative individuals do not take care of the boring, admin sides of their work, such as applying for copyrights to protect themselves. This is not uncommon when people are juggling several talents and projects. She has starred in her last two series, but the last was in 2019.

There were also two men involved; one got over two years and the boyfriend got over one year. It was a total scam on Mr. Park and due to his loss of time, notoriety, and great emotional stress, this fine actor who has worked straight through several years began taking drugs (seven doses total) to help calm himself. He had done such fine work and won awards for several years in a row that covered every major and minor Korean award available. He can hardly be blamed for his life becoming so entangled that he's probably felt he fell into a deep, dark pit with almost no way out. So, he hurt himself greatly by trying to find some relief from his distress and lost his agency. No outreach for someone who had brought them numerous awards and stature; no mercy or intervention.

You are right. How is it she gets cast in so many dramas?
Evidently, like other Korean actresses who do EXACTLY what their directors order them to do, so that people believe that actors who are not producing their own films or TV series, can ad lib, behave in ridiculous ways and don't mind all of the hate poured on them for following directions. They must love the long hours, the half pay of their male costars, and having to go hungry most of the time. Personally, I think she's great and she won a couple awards for this series, so others must love her also.

Lt. Yeom asked Oh Cho Rim's father directly about her being Choi Eun Sol and he denied it vehemently. He had been the Lt's senior officer and she backed down. No one else seemed to know about her survival because her medical care took place somewhere else.

What was someone accused of?
NO! He did not go to jail! Do your research before labeling others! He was given no jail time and a two-year of probation, made extensive apologies with many tears and obvious humility. He has steadily been writing and recording music and has put our at least one album in the past year+. His crime with the meth was against himself and his own reputation. Taking the pills is not having a lab and selling it to kids, so if society in general was injured, it must have been those rare individuals who have been born perfect. Even Jesus would have compassion for him and the pressure he had been under with his father's unexpected death just prior to shooting "Rooftop Prince". And then, he had a group of men and women in a blackmailing scam - evidently not uncommon Korean celebrities - go after him for sexual. Even with being proven innocent and the grifters being punished, he had three very sad years in a row.

So many people leap to the conclusion that it is a suicide before having evidence. How will the family or close friends feel to read this when the individual may have had a sudden illness or even a long-term one that was managed privately. The brilliant, deeply loved Chadwick Boseman died "unexpectedly." Initially, some jumped to the same conclusion of suicide. Chad Boseman died from colon cancer that he had fought for years, while still creating the best-remembered characters.

Please, people, take your time and wait for the official statements. The Internet gives people the immediate freedom to be anonymously irresponsible, even cruel with statistics, speculation, etc., faster than official people can provide the facts. Expressing loss and love is helpful and appreciated. Being an uninformed reporter is not. If it truly was a self-death, it is not anyone's business, and the burden of the tragedy will feel so much heavier on those who loved the person. Give the family and friends their privacy and respect. Having experienced it personally, I know how it feels. It is never forgotten, yet for me, it has become dimmer, thanks to God.

I don't get how after drinking heavily, they wake up without hangover. Or even if they have hangover, after drinking…
And then, there are people like me, of American Indian descent whose livers and pancreas do not process alcohol well, so we are cheap drunks at best. I go to sleep after two glasses of dry (or sweet) wine. Or, to be described more gently, I'm a very economical drinker, always forgetting to buy anything with alcohol for drinking or cooking, even if I think about doing it when I'm alone. So, yes! I've been amazed that this is described in the culture books as normal, plus seeing it in films and TV dramas. Count me in with those who wonder what metal might be included with the inner working of Koreans to endure so much alcohol at a sitting, and still perform well at work the next day.

who are we to hate/Judge things in Korean dramas they are making it to entertain koreans it 's our choice to watch…
Totally agree with you. And, as a person quit regular TV a dozen years ago, the choices I make primarily include subscribed services where I expect any commercials to be included if I am watching a contemporary drama. Then, all is fair. Otherwise, product placement never happens in historical dramas. Imagine being forced out of concentrating Hwarang, yet once again (the twelfth time) and having a sudden break for a medication, hair product, or birth control ad!! That is, a highly-desired second series was to be made and the lead actors calendars were clear, and the budget was increased to cover salaries of lead actors whose fame has increased. Given how Kim Taehyung's fame has grown in the past few years, his removal from the series - via a tragic accident in Episode 18 - could be considered a win in the budget column alone. Still my favorite K-Drama without product placement!!

Person Hu Jian
I loved Hu Jian's character of Lord FuLou in Love Better Than Immortality. He was so noble and completely dedicated to his beautiful wife, You Si, who was dying slowly from an illness caused by her first husband. FuLou became trapped in a battle that he had overwhelming odds, yet he was will to do everything to honor this gentle, lovely woman who had trusted him her entire life. His portrayal was very powerful. I was impressed repeatedly that the ML, Shangguan Qiuyue, had respect for FuLou and almost liked him, not that they would ever become the BFFs that their cherished women were.
