Please still watch it! He’s only teamed up with Zhu Dan for the first team up. He ends up with Jackie Li’s team eventually and I loooove their interactions together. They become Mother and Father Yeast because of how good Jackie is at making steamed buns.

Ngl, they are may ship for this season hahaha! Jackie tends to always take care of others in the show, so it’s nice to see someone look after her right from the get go. They had so many moments in season 5.😭❤️

There is romance, but very subtle. When they realize they both have feelings for each other, they don’t overcomplicate things and just go with the flow.

This drama has a 21 minuted special that is like a mockumentary set within the drama. The characters are interviewed with scenes that are not shown in the actual drama.

The title in Chinese is different but they really call it the second season. Think of it like an anthology series with different families featured every season.

Jing Kan lost his memory but after reuniting with his family, it’s obvious he will remember everything back little by little. In the BTS special, Jing Kan said he mentioned Xiao Mei on purpose to see if Sixi will be angry lol he still wants to make her jealous.

Last two episodes had me crying a lot! I love how this drama doesn’t over-complicated plot points, and the development of the love story between Ai Sixi and Jing Kan was just subtle but their sweet moments together felt very domestic and natural. Their chemistry is so good! I hope they do make a third season! Looking forward to their movie as well.

The writer is really good at creating characters that feel very real. I love how nice the development of the characters in the end without making it feel too forced.

Zhou Yi Ran and Jackie Li's interactions are so adorable and sweet!

The way Yiran heard that Jackie's in debt so he enlisted her help for his costume. That costume show would have earned him 30 coins, and he just gives all 30 coins to Jackie because she helped him make his costume.

I loved Hilarious Family 1 and this one's right up my alley too. I adore Jackie Li so I'm really glad they made another drama of this kind.

As someone who has seen the movie Raise the Red Lantern, I'm so excited to see Cao Cuifen and He Safei reunited in this drama and in a completely different genre at that. Raise the Red Lantern was really dark and depressing while this one is full on crack comedy. I love it!

There's a rumor they're already preparing for season 3 with the same core cast again.

This drama is more about the four sisters and their mother. The romance is light and peppered throughout the series but not exactly the main focus. It's still worth the watch imo.

I can easily tell this drama was review bombed after a certain drama came out. This drama had a pretty good rating for a long time and it only went under 8 recently lol. Anyone who review bombed this is weird and pathetic.

I enjoyed it but it lacks plot development. It’s like watching a drama series squeezed into one episode and everything is in fast forward. If you’re familiar with the original story it probably wouldn’t be a problem. But it’s just a shame that there’s a lot of backstory that doesn’t get explored when the story itself seems to be full of colorful potential.

Peilan and Buping’s CP names are so funny.

There’s 不佩 Bu Pei which sounds like 不配 meaning (incompatible or doesn’t match)

And then there’s 兰路虎 Lan Lu Hu which sounds like 拦路虎 meaning obstacle or literally a tiger (hu) blocking the road (lu). And the tiger blocking the road is Li Tengyun🤣

Li Tengyun actor Xiang Xia as a joke makes an attempt to come up with another CP name: 腾云不佩 (Tengyun Bu Pei) which sounds like Tengyun is unworthy or Tengyun doesn’t match up)😆

I love that although Du Ruyu’s purpose in moving into Jianglin was to find good marriages for her daughters, she never pressured them into relationships they may not be happy for. For a comedy, it’s so easy to fall into a Mrs. Bennet trope and have her be obsessed into making her daughters simply marry for money/power. She always prioritizes her daughters’ happiness above all else.

I love every character in different ways but my fave is absolutely Peilan. A lot of it because of my love for Jackie Li, but also even though she’s the meekest among her sisters, she will ride or die for them. She protects her family in her little ways. Like how she always knew where Keling hid her weapons and she didn’t hesitate to use them when their mother was in danger. One of my fave recurring gags in the earlier eps is despite being the sweetest-will-never-hurt-a-fly sister, she often accidentally poisoned people.

There’s also this subtle development about her character where in an earlier episode she was so overwhelmed about helping Shishu in the pharmacy but at the end, when Buping’s father had a stroke, she was already very familiar with every medicine and calmly passing on the info to Buping.

Peilan and Buping! I love how naturally they gravitated towards each other. And from the moment Buping realizes he likes Peilan, he never faltered and he goes on to pursue her without pressuring her into accepting his feelings. Whenever Peilan tells him she’s not ready yet, he willingly accepts it and just stays by her side.

Another thing that shows they are perfect for each other is Peilan is known to never talk back, but she does it with Buping, and he actually listens.

I also love their mini flirtations on the side whenever they are not the focus of the episode. Like when he wanted to read her a poem and Peilan was so embarrassed which Banxia misinterpreted😆

My interpretation was so she can stall the guards when they come back to their house, giving her daughters more time to escape.
