Guys, please don’t take this as an offense. My intention is to understand the unique appeal of this show. It’s currently one of the most popular dramas airing, with an impressive Douban rating of 7.6 from over 120K users. (trust me this score is pretty damn good, considering its DB). Most recent dramas like SNTL, FOF, and TRON have received ratings below 6 on DB, and there really aren’t many shows, especially idol costume dramas this year, that have received high ratings, no matter how popular they were.
Personally, I find LGIEF storyline to be quite average, a typical costume fantasy drama with familiar tropes and plots. As a long-time C-drama fan, I’m curious to know what other viewers find unique about this show. From my perspective, the storyline, including characters and overall execution, seem rather ordinary. However, I’m really liking the chemistry between the two main leads, costume design and effects.
So, Is it because this is the main leads’ reunion project? Hmmm… I don’t think this might be the sole reason, though. Also, if someone is really new to the C-Drama world or doesn’t watch too many dramas continuously might find this really interesting, which contrasts with viewers like me.
So, please share your opinion or views on what really makes you stay/enjoy this drama aside from the main leads’ chemistry, especially story-wise or plot-wise. I’m asking this here because I want to know things from other viewers perspectives. _ _ _

IKR? Like when I watched Scarlet Heart Ryeo for the first time and saw those siblings marrying each other. I was like What the heck? 💀 Even if they are from different mother, their father is same on earth. 👀 Really...ITS JUST CRAZY. I just started watching this, and here's also the same case. 😅
This is likely one of the best period romance dramas I've watched this year. I've upgraded my rating from 8.5 to 9. Just like many viewers said here in the MDL section, there are many unique aspects in this show that have pleasantly surprised me. ❤️

Finished watching episode 27. The storyline and plot execution have their own weaknesses and strengths. My rating for this show is 8, but for all the cuteness of Wanyi, who doesn't stop giving me butterflies, I'm giving it an 8.5. I'm okay with any kind of ending, especially in C-dramas, but for this one, I'm hoping for a happy one. 🙏
