This cdrama storyline is a bit unique compared to the rest of the cdramas which deals with so called brother & sister relationship. Besides the teleporting from modern to xianxia which I feels is very common in most cdramas. What I like about this cdrama is the main couple & even the supporting actors/actresses acting. At least no more childhood sweethearts but one thing that always happened in xianxia genre is the ML will suffers plentiful while trying to protect the FL and there are few suitors who fell head over heels for the FL too. Since I have not completed watching it yet so I won't comment more. Another thing that I like about this cdrama is the air time length which is around 30 mins/episode. which is neither too short nor long for me to digest.

Indeed. That's the reason why I stated most of the cdramas have this childhood sweethearts memories & the best part is most of them can remember their childhood sweethearts whom given me sorry........I can't remember at all. Another thing that I also noticed are lately many cdramas like to features a lot of skinship e.g. kissing, kissing & non stop kissing.....sudden kiss to violent kissing to hungry kissing......lol....it's good to have this scenes but too much of it will make me feel cringe.

Personally after watching so many long winded cdramas, I feel this cdrama is kinder sweet, short & precise. No unnecessary & draggy scenes plus it comes with a twisting plot. Everything is good especially the main couples managed to create high sense of chemistry on the screen. Only thing I noticed was every cdramas comes with the main couples already knew or meet with each other long time ago either in their childhood days or as an acquaintance but they can't really remember each other until few years later when fate bring both back to each other. Lol.......anyway this cdrama is rather entertaining & extremely full of sweetness.

Fully agreed with you on this matter. I prefer they condense these stories which are 6 to 8 mins per/episode into 2 full length episodes by just focusing on the main couple instead of those lengthy cdramas which has more than 40 episodes. At least it's easy to watch & digest & most importantly no repetitive & draggy scenes.

One of the shortest & sweetest cdrama on time-travelling romance between a girl with half human & half demon. Easy to watch & digest. The ML -Caven Wen is good looking as human & demon too. Lol.

One of the best short cdrama I've watched so far. The story is quite simple, funny & unique. It is not draggy & do not have too many repetitive scenes. One can binge watch it with 1/2 day & feel happy after completing watching it.

Fully agreed with you on this type of cdrama set in republican era. Those days it was either warlords fighting among each other to capture more territories or foreigners invasion such as Japanese/French/UK and etc. Besides that those days, opium is the main reasons for China downfall too. With so many negative energies how can China citizens have a prosperous & happy living environment. Hence if one intent to watch this type of republican era cdrama please don't expect to have happy ending. That's the reason why I hardly watch republican cdramas 'coz after a stressful day of work then back home watching such sorrow & stressful cdrama really makes me feel down. Btw the reason why I watch this cdrama is due to Leon Lai Yi but ended up I like both supporting actors - Leon Lai Yi & Ran Xu both are equally good looking & have good brotherhood relationship over here.

Actually there are a few republican era cdramas which have good/happy ending such as "Fall In Love" by Chen Xing Xu & Evan Lin & "Arsenal Military Academy" by Xu Kai, Bailu & Tobey Lee. The rest of the republican cdramas, I've yet to watch besides the ones that I've mentioned & including this one "Love In Flames of War".

I've watched Jiu Liu Overlord last year when it was on aired. So far that is the only cdrama which I watched Leon Lai Yi acted as ML & with one of my favourite actress - Bai Lu too. I feel Leon Lai Yi shared similar issue like Merxat Yalkun. Both are good looking & have great acting skill yet ended as supporting role. Merxat is even worst his role always ended up tragically except for his latest cdrama "My Sassy Princess". Hopefully Leon has more ML & good roles to act in the future.

The reason why I watch this cdrama is due to Leon Lai Yi as he always acted as supporting role. He is really good looking & have great acting skill. Really don't understand why he always ended up with supporting role most of the time. Since this cdrama is still ongoing & I am still in the midst of watching it, the role that I find very irritating is both the main couple role - Lin Hang Jing & Xiao Bei Chen. Both love each other from the 1st day they met but was head-logging with each other till both are married. Then worst of all is both have misunderstanding. The ML keeps on secretly helping the FL but the FL thought ML lying & does not have trust her. Then FL keeps on driving ML up the wall with her foolish actions. I hope I can complete watching it as I am still struggling watching till episode 34.

This cdrama is quite similar with About Is Love. Over here FL have a rare sickness which needs the ML touches. There is a reason why FL needs the ML touches to resurrect her from her sleep or sleep-walking. Overall this cdrama is considered good. If you are a fans of Lou Zheng to your disappointment he acted as supporting role or 2nd ML over here.

Finally completed watching this cdrama for a low budget cdrama what I can commented was it is above average but if you prefer to watch ML chasing & confessing his love towards the FL then this cdrama might not suit you as over here from the 1st episode the FL goes all the way wooing & chasing after the ML. Another part that I like about this cdrama is both leading couples & supporting couples have the right air time not like other cdramas which focused too much on the supporting couples romance. As for me, personally I liked both Zheng Ye Cheng & Merxat acting skill so I quite enjoy watching this cdrama.

Oh my after weeks of waiting & watching this drama finally finish watching it. Really like the story, casting, OST & effect of this drama. Everyone has done a great job in bring this drama soooo lively & interesting. If the ending of this drama is shown properly then I will give a higher rating. Without the English subs it makes me guessing what has happened in the end. If it's Cheng Yi imagination or both Yun He & Cheng Yi really meet up & dive into the ocean?

I did not noticed that both ML - Luo Zheng & FL - Ji Mei Han has acted as a couple in "Make My Heart Smile" till I just completed watching it few days ago. No wonder both of them have great on the screen chemistry over here as this is their 2nd collaboration cdrama together. I hope there is a Season 2 for this cdrama or else it will be like ???

Personally I quite like this cdrama even though I am halfway into it. The reason why I like it due to :-
1) It's light & easy to digest - no heavy palace politics involved
2) It's not draggy or repetitive - storyline is direct to the point
3) Finally Merxat gets to act a role that is not too sad which means he does not acted in a role of falling in love with the FL then gets rejected later. Even though his role here is a 2nd ML but it's far better than his other cdramas roles which always ended sadly.
4) Both ML - Zheng Ye Cheng & FL - Crystal Yuan both nailed their role so well. Both managed to show their on-screen chemistry & same goes to the 2nd ML - Merxat with 2nd FL - Zhang Yue. Love to watch both couples sparks.
5) This cdrama is rather short - which means it's less than 30 episodes with average air time of 40 mins/per episode which makes me feel easy to watch.
Downside of this cdrama is at the beginning the FL - Princess Chang Le went all the way chasing after the ML - Shen Yan which is a bit too much.
I feel this cdrama is really being under-rated despite it has better storyline than those overly rated cdramas with lousy or draggy storyline with "no on the screen chemistry" between the ML & FL.

Just started to watch this cdramas as I am trying to find a short yet not too short cdrama as a filler while waiting for few long on-going dramas. So far I am at episode 9 and the storyline is really a typical romcom. If you have watched Lou Zheng cdramas then you will noticed his role was rather the same........cool, good-looking, arrogant yet caring guy in the end. And another point is he acted in 2 cdramas involved with twin sisters involved in a car accident. Sigh! I hope he gets to act on more solid & serious role instead of stereo type of role. So far this cdrama seems quite entertaining, let's hope it's worth my time watching it.

Oh my gosh! I didn't know this cdrama was soooo good. Not just that I like their OST too. Their romance featured too was sweet. 3 couples were being featured over here. The main ML - Ai Jing Chu & FL - Zeng Li so called are both shy person & both have indirectly known each other when the Ai Jing Chu accidentally read a letter which Zeng Li send to her younger uncle Yu Yi. Then by fate 10 years later Zeng Li meets up & gets her denture from Ai Jing Chu. The 2nd couple - Liu Yi Cheng who is a younger Chinese medical student & happens to be a Malaysian......lol which I find him looks more like a Korean than Malaysian guy who falls for another Western doctor who happens to be FL bff - Wu Ying. Their romance is typical kdrama romance - noona & dongsaeng style. Lastly the 3rd couple - Deng Hao Ran who happens to be the FL stepbrother & Ma Yi Yi also one of FL bff. Both like having a love & hate relationship / romance. One thing I discovered was FL younger uncle - Yu Yi acted by Merxat. Merxat always get this type of role - FL under his nose but always missed the ship. Sigh! I highly recommend this cdrama if you are the person who likes romcom, sweet & fluffy romance storyline.

Finally finished watching this cdrama. What I can said is for a low budget production cdrama it is considered good. Of course there are few loop holes here & there e.g. suddenly the FL choose ML & ML made himself as an experiment for the miracle doctor to find an antidote to cure the FL love poison. Then the end is like a cliff-hanger too. I assume there is going to be another Season 2 to complete this cdrama. Btw. idk if anyone noticed that the opening OST mv shows more air-time for the 2nd ML - Fang Xian Xun/Lin Xie than the ML - Lu Ting Xiao/Yin Si Shen which makes me think the 2nd ML as the ML role. Lol........Overall it's worth watching for me as I treat it as my drama filler while waiting for long cdramas like "The Blue Whisper" to complete airing.

Autumn Ballad has better storyline compared to this cdrama. I felt most talented, good looking & great actors in China do not have opportunity to act in good script cdrama. It really a waste of their talent.

My gosh.....this cdrama is really dramatic. Great actor like Jeremy Jones should get a better drama storyline instead of this one. The whole story is seems to be rather messy & confusing to me. Even before the ML - Mu Ting Zhou went into amnesia he sees the FL - Ming Wei differently. Even though he shows his coolness in front of Ming Wei yet he still guide & protect her & when he went into amnesia stage the whole story like a joke to me. Worst part is most of the air time shown was when the ML was in his amnesia stage - to & flo flirting with the ML then break-up. I don't know if I should continue watching it.
