binged in a few days - so good. the perfect mix of action, thriller and comedy! i loved the cases and how it all ties together in the end, and although they were plot holes i could easily turn my brain off and itāll still be a good watch.
the character dynamics were explored more this season which i appreciated, and there was never a dull moment. as always Do Gi is THE man. he practically represents taxi driver. looking forward to season 3 soon!
1. so did Zhuang Zhixing actually lie to Zang Hai before and tell him that the third enemy was the Queen of Dongxia…
1. yes, but he wasnāt working for ZBW. imo he didnāt want to give the while truth away so easily to Zang Hai, as he still blamed him partially for what happened to his father. 2. not explicitly explained in the show, but something to that effect. 3. ZBW killed him and blamed it on Zang Hai. 4. good question, maybe because heās been known as Zang Hai the moment he met Antu, so itāll be a bit weird if she suddenly started using his old name instead.
I'm confused,, how did the spirealm aired without any issues while justice in the dark was forced to stop airing…
this drama touches on more heavy themes of corruption in the police force, which is a very censored issue in china hence it couldnāt finish airing (this theme is even more prevalent towards the end of the series)
watching this feels safe - because itās so predictable. and in a good way. from the plot to characters, everything is predictable if youāve watched enough cdramas to know how these kinds of shows progress. iāve even guessed multiple times what characters were about to say (almost word for word) before they actually said them LOLthe chemistry was decent, not the best, but it still made me care for the relationship. Zhuohua is one of the best FLs in cdrama land, one that really stands on her own two feet, is actually smart, and strives for her goals without relying on the ML to come and save her all the time. the leadsā relationship is true couple goals: they support each other and help each other grow. i love the idea of accompaniment - it doesnāt always have to be marriage. and our leads exemplify that. loved all 3 couples here - whether they had a good or bad ending. i think it couldāve used less episodes to tell the same story. the pacing in the middle was a little slow. other than that, 8.5/10
*you can watch at 1.25x speed, doesnāt affect anything
this show was almost exactly how i thought it would be - lots of action, characters that i can both love and hate, and touching emotional moments with some comedy. there were characters i found annoying at first, but their actions were understandable given the alien context. just wished some important characters were more fleshed out with back stories so we can see them grow. overall an entertaining watch.
iām on the fence whether i should watch part 2 given the bad reviews⦠we shall see
Im on ep 34 and this show is amazing., however im still trying to figure out a few things. Like in the beginning…
- they had to burn all evidence of Zang Haiās previous identity as Zhi Nu, which includes the place he trained at and was raised for 10 years, so that even if his enemies wanted to do a background check on him in future, they wouldnāt find anything suspicious. leaving the building there untouched would be a huge risk should someone with bad intentions stumble upon it and discover his true identity and motives
- imo the reason why Ping Jin Hou (marquis) did that was for his ego, he wanted to display his proudest āachievementā and also remind himself of the time he had such prowess to kill an entire family; it is implied many times in the show that the marquis longs and reminisces about the times he was younger and could fight victoriously. perhaps flaying Zang Haiās parents and displaying them was his way of reminding himself of that time
binged in a week+ and loved it. i went in with some expectations due to the good reviews and hype, and this show didnāt disappoint. what a rollercoaster from start to end. loved all the characters, the details in the story and the relationships too. admittedly didnāt like the FL that much at first but she really grew on me as the story progressed and by the end of the show i loved her. this show knows how to write and portray characters well - realistic ones with grey areas, weaknesses and strengths. the villains were great too, and i like how Zanghai never lost sight of his main focus of revenge. will be giving this a rewatch for sure! thereās just so many details one could miss on the first watch.
itās been a while since iāve watched something that actually takes the audience seriously. Xiao Zhanās portrayal of Zang Hai is no doubt his best work yet - i can tell the amount of effort he put into bringing the character to life. this show is one for the history books.
this is more political and less on action, there is action but if you are watching it only for action, you may be disappointed. this show is very much character driven
binged it in 4 days. overall i agree with most comments here, there was a strong start but started to drag out 2/3 through. i appreciated that the plot was rather well explained, the only part i donāt understand was how Gao Xuan was different from the rest when they first entered the game ā the rest first entered because of the accident, but he wasnāt involved and only fell asleep. so was there any specific reason why he was chosen to participate or tied into all this? maybe they did explain but i missed it
