that bedside conversation in ep17 where FL already knows ML is lying but still asks him to describe how their ālifeā was like back then is what, in my opinion, makes this show a standout among the myriad of historical romances. the screen time given to this one scene shows the thought put into the script and the characters. through this one conversation, we know that the FL has real feelings for the ML despite knowing parts of her past. even though the FL knows whatever that comes out of MLās mouth is all lies at this point, she still wants to listen, to indulge in the moment of what they couldāve been had they been truly married in the first place. at the same time, this scene also shows that the ML has real feelings for the FL, despite the lies, itās obvious that he too wishes for such a life with the FL. on the other side, this conversation is also FL giving the ML a last chance to come clean, to confess that everything is a lie. we can clearly see the look of sadness and disappointment in FLās eyes after the conversation. our leads are conflicted - this is what real yearning looks like. the relationship is fake, but the feelings are real.
i really enjoyed this, regret not watching it when it first aired back in 2020. had to skip some parts but overall i loved the storylines and characters. the pain of not only losing a loved one, but not being able to find their body to provide closure is one of the worst things ever. the last episode made me cry
starts off fairly strong, but am at ep 7 and struggling to maintain interest in the storyā¦ someone pls tell…
okay it gets better because itās growing on meā¦ but the story is still a little bit too draggy for my liking. watching this for the cast and fighting scenes mostly
this is sooo unhinged with the dark comedy and is definitely a surprise for me, i was expecting something more like Moving but this is good in its own way too
they toned up the comedy this season, especially in the first few episodes and it took awhile to get used to it. there were parts that suffered from weaker writing (plot conveniences etc.) but there were also moments showing brilliant writing and emotional depth. iām glad they didnāt go all comedy and remembered to keep the emotional aspects of the characters and core story, which is fighting for justice and helping the weak. the scenes where we got to see more emotional/vulnerable sides of Father Kim were my favourites and helps to add depth to his character. as always, love the found family dynamics and even the villains were pretty fun. the topic handled is by no means light at all - and iām surprised the show managed to keep things light while not ignoring itās severity. would love to see more of the Gudam family!
watching this for Zhao Jin Mai, loved her since Reset! probably need to 1.25x speed this
okay finally finished - felt the ending was quite rushed but i enjoyed the politics, nothing unpredictable and i was expecting that kind of ending. why did SRQ have so much screen time in the last episode thoughā¦ the chemistry between all couples and the comparisons between the 1st and 2nd lives were the best part of the show. 8.5/10
the cinematography and acting were top notch here - it was a little too slow especially in the first half for my liking but i liked the theme explored and the psychological depth. officer gu is my fav <3
ended up liking this way more than i expected, 10 eps kept the plot tight and i loved how the story never lost its central focus on Dong Jae. Nam Wan Seong was a textbook villain - but that didnāt matter, because his character served as a tool/instrument to help Dong Jae grow, and to help viewers see his struggles with how his corrupted past still affects his life now. even the investigations were simple - but they managed to show different sides of Dongjae. he was never a hero, but never a villain either. this show manages to bring out the āgreyā areas in his character which makes him relatable. bonus points for the ending!
this show has so much heart, 20 episodes went by in a flash. i love all the characters and how humour was used appropriately throughout, and how cases didnāt drag for too long and were relatively simple. they tied to the background of every character nicely. serious and emotional scenes had a fair share, but they always balanced it out with comedy after. will miss violent crimes team 2 and thanks dong bang yu bin for getting me addicted to chocolate
