a worthy watch, with strong performances from everyone. i love the revenge theme and how the plot was tightly knitted for most parts and i like the themes it explored. ep 25 was a delightful extra for me and i didn’t mind it at all.
finished ep2 and am really loving it so far! sooooo heartwarming and refreshing
binged in 3 days and i’m absolutely blown away by how amazing and inspiring this was. i loved the characters and how everyone had their own journey of growth - finding our own happiness and not being afraid to start. if you love slice of life, this is a must watch!
binged it in a week. i’ll leave some thoughts here
- acting was good throughout, the only weak link was the FL. everyone outshone her in terms of acting, but then again i think Tong Yao did the best she could with her script, which brings me to my next point - FL is under utilised, especially in the last quarter of the show, and her role is also not very impactful to the plot except at critical times - i particularly loved the acting from Wang Shi An’s character. he’s the classic underdog turned main villain and somehow i still can’t bring myself to hate him - sames goes for Chen Mo Qun. he’s more of a grey character than a straight out villain that was pushed by circumstances to do what he did. - there are a few plot holes here and there but if you turn your brain off you will not notice them - the first few episodes were fast paced and great, but after that it slows down, then picks up again - idk why i kept comparing this to Fearless Whispers, but im really glad that they didn’t make Zuo Qiu Ming to be like (spoilers for FW ahead if you haven’t watched) Zhao Zhi Yong, considering they were both close and good friends of the MLs of each show respectively. everytime Zuo Qiu Ming came onscreen he stole the show. wish we could’ve seen more of him - Zhu Yi Long’s acting doesn’t disappoint + he looks sooo good in uniform - the ending was a bit rushed, too much information revealed at once and some plot holes again - the poster is VERY misleading (imo) because ML doesn’t even officially become a spy/CCP member until the last 10 eps of the show, and he doesn’t even work together with FL on a mission at all (only in the last episode at best) - overall, still worth a watch if you like spy thrillers or republican era shows
i normally don’t watch xianxia, but will give this a try because of all the good reviews! hope it doesn’t…
just finished ep 10 and am pleasantly surprised at the pacing of this drama! i love the slow burn romance and it’s so refreshing to see a plot that is relatively simple and focuses on the characters, especially our leads. i think this might be the best xianxia tbh
binged this in a night and am blown away by the quality! loved everything about this, the romance and chemistry is better than some mainstream dramas out there. 10/10
This whole story was a total mess...I witnessed a dumb ml, an intelligent fl,that unfilial scum yang, unnecessary…
then you obviously have not grasped the main point of the story - which is growth, values, and how there will always be grey areas in morals. one always has the option to choose their path to take, and this show really exemplifies that by contrasting our ML against the SML. i think Jin Yong did an excellent job in writing this series and its characters.
for those interested in the webtoon, this drama is the prequel to the main story - covering chapter 26 to 37, but the drama adds more characters and plot elements to it
loving this so far! the leads chemistry save the show for me - the plot isn’t that bad per se, it keeps me hooked but some performances are lacking and the CGI isn’t the best.
bought the novel to ease my heart after reading spoilers about the ending
just binged this and i regret putting it off for 4 years on my watchlist 😭😭 cried buckets at the end and throughout actually…. it’s so good i don’t want it to end 😭😭😭😭😭
