Greetings, I am horribly late to this series, mainly because I feel ambivalent towards Krist. I'll give his series a fair chance (which is why I'm watching it now), but I'm not actively seeking out his projects.
With the conclusion of MLC, I brace myself for the long BL "winter" before I see EarthMix, GeminiFourth, KhaotungFirst, and Mark plus whoever he's gonna be shipped with next (boy gets around, doesn't he) again. It's like I'm a BL bear and I've stored enough BL fat to go into gay hibernation now.
They've moved on from burying the gays, now it's burying the gays' moms.
In my country we have an actress who's well-known for playing supporting character roles, usually the mother of a main character. The meme is if she's shown to cough on camera, her character's guaranteed to die in a few episodes. I guess you could say she has Chekhov's Cough 💀
I'm only 24 and I already feel personally attacked by this showhttps://at.tumblr.com/siqen/i-feel-like-theres-a-really-interesting-divide-in/z7wh15jkr8zgI…
Hot take from twitter: "I've a feeling that a part of JimWen haters are straight women for whom bl is just a genre to giggle on. It was reflective in some of their comments that they haven't lived a day in their life as gay in Asia."
Thai BLs are notorious for their accursed penultimate episodes, so I was bracing myself for Ep 7, but I was bracing to take a hit from the wrong direction! ðŸ˜
I just finished a dropping spree of my watchlist, unfortunately this show didn't make my final cut. As a middle-aged homosexual I am completely at peace with admitting that I would stick with any BL, no matter how much of a fetid dumpster fire it was, if I found the actors ridiculously good-looking. Yeah, I'm mid that way.
Sure sign that I liked the show: I'm desperately trying to see how I can have those music boxes imported here in the Philippines. If I was able to secure Sarawat and Tine's jerseys, two tiny music boxes should be easy! *rage*
From Water Boyy to ATOTS to Cupid's Last Wish and now here, I find it hard to buy whatever Earth's acting is trying to sell. He seems to always be cast in stoic roles, not sure if it's because that's his only wheelhouse or because he's meant to act as a foil to more expressive actors (i.e. Mix). Contrast his artificial tears in the morgue with Khaotung or First's performances. Maybe I just need to see him in a more emotionally dynamic role.
Suuuper late to the party, but I'm kinda glad I saw them first in Moonlight Chicken. Knowing that they can act like they did in MC, I'm happy to tag along their shenanigans here in MSP.
If my dead pets came back in human form, what *I* would be worried about would be all the times they had seen…
My dog watches me take dumps all the time (just like how I watch him take a dump while walking him I guess). The romance would be totally dead on arrival.
I know that some people are tired of telenovela/K-drama cliches, I agree with it in the general sense. But in the context of a BL, and a BL made in Korea no less, I see these cliches as a way of normalizing BL stories. Just as LGBTQIA are normal people, then shows about them can also depict the same mundane tropes as everyone else. Not everything has to be "bury your gays" exploitation porn or a preachy burning crusade, there's room for a cheesy Korean romcom where the leads just happen to be both males.
Imagine if you were watching a movie, then on-screen half the people suddenly disappeared, but the film never tells you why. All the fans say you have to read the comics to figure out why it happened. That's how I feel with Kluen's behavior. If I have to turn to the source material to figure out what's up with a main character halfway through the series, then what's the point of a live adaptation?
Con: show is fluffy AF, no chance in hell we'd see Jung Woo's washboard abs
