I have no problem with Sand being on the chopping block, as you say, but I'd like it to be for things he's actually done. I really don't see how he's being different with Boeing than he was with Ray, and I really don't remember people being this upset when Ray was walking all over every boundary Sand set up. Because that's exactly what Boeing is doing, and yet Sand is getting the blame. I dislike it.

Sand clearly has a lot of unresolved issues around Boeing that he needs to work through. It's kind of like when Ray needed to work through his Mew problems, only I don't remember Ray getting it in the teeth for that as much. Could be bias though for sure.

This isn't that bad. I've left certain pages because of how horrible the comments got. Sure we're a little tetchy sometimes but I haven't seen outright vitriol yet, so that's nice. 🤣

Oh yeah his ire has been misdirected for sure - Boeing left. Top didn't put a gun to his head. But I get Sand in that it's easier to blame the other person than it is to blame the person you love (or loved). But I also very much think that part of that is that Sand doesn't want to deal with what it might say about *him*, that he wasn't enough for Boeing to stick around.

I do think he might have also fixated a little on Ray because his relationship with Ray reinforced whatever the breakup with Boeing left in his head - Ray was highkey emotionally unavailable and telegraphing it at every turn, and yet Sand was pretty far in very quickly. That said, it's equally clear that now Ray is entirely in this thing, and Sand is too, but he has to deal with his issues surrounding Boeing first, just like Ray had to deal with his Mew issues.

I am not frustrated with Sand, but I do wish that he were a little less...not nice, exactly, but gentle, and a little less prone to pushing things down or ignoring his own feelings. I feel like he's due for an explosion but I could be wrong.

Aw I hope we can all move on and be civil in other comments. I mean I've gotten in more arguments on this page than I have ever in the entirety of my time on MDL, but I don't feel any particular ire towards any of the people I've argued with. I hope others feel the same way.

At the end of the day it's just a TV show.

This I agree with. I always felt that Sand was still a little hung up on the ex, not necessarily in love but just...there's a lot of hurt here, and he's not processed it. He's clearly got some bitterness towards Boeing even if he tried to pretend it was all Top's fault, but he also very clearly hasn't dealt with it, not really.

I do think that that is more what this is about than anything else. Kind of like how dating Mew was what Ray needed to realize that he was more in love with an idea than a person. I do wish they hadn't left it this late, but I really do not understand the need to vilify Sand for this.

And yeah, I feel like everyone is being very very human, pettiness, warts, and all. It's probably why they are so frustrating!

I'm not that pressed, lol, but I got a lot of pushback for my ire with Ray in the past so I admit I'm feeling a bit annoyed. I expect after this I will also be blocked, but that works for me too. :D

No, they didn't change anything. They wrote it differently.

Okay a couple of things.

1. I WISH you'd all had this same energy for when Ray was being a dick. But he can do whatever and Sand barely did anything this ep but because he's not doing enough he's the devil. It's insane. How do you people ship this when you clearly only care about one of these characters? If Ray is all that matters maybe you should ship him with someone you find worthy of him.

2. The novel is not the show and the show is not based on the novel. They were both probably written at the same time, or the novel later. Please stop acting like they CHANGED things. They didn't.

3. I am really disliking the Boston and Nick direction. This annoys me after I've spent so many episodes shipping it.

The fact that she was like "oh honey" about Atom admitting he lied about Boston SAing him boiled my damn blood. WTF. Just. What the fuck. That can be a life ruining accusation and she's treating it like it's nothing.

Just an FYI often they will have people recovering from alcohol addiction wean themselves off of the sauce. Not just because some people can't quit all at once but because withdrawal is no joke and can actually kill you.

I mean Sand clearly digs that, but the fact that he's not regularly getting hit on baffles me (I know it's not that kind of show, shhhh let me have this).
