Oh man the internal debate about whether I should say anything was real and it was *rough*

But then again I have never been capable of shutting up so here we go with my unpopular opinions.

Short answer: I don't think he cares much about Sand as a person and he *definitely* does not see him as a viable romantic partner.

I think he finds Sand sexy and interesting and fun, but he treats him and his life like a tourist attraction. He does not respect Sand and he belittled every single step of their little day together. Literally everything they did, Ray had some snide rich boy comment to make. When he had to ride a bike? Whining about air conditioning and being dusty. Buying secondhand clothes? Comments about being cheap, several more about how these aren't things he wears, etc. When he then is complimented on the shirt Sand ultimately decided on? "It's secondhand." The concert? Complaining about location. When they thought that Sand's mom was being shaken down by debt collectors, he treated it like a fun stop on a tour, then was immediately judgy about where Sand brought them. It was literally every damn step of the way.

I'm not complaining about this because it's exactly the kind of class discrepancy commentary that I wanted but haven't yet gotten from Dangerous Romance, but I also think him doing all this showcases how little a relationship between them would really work and how little Ray cares about Sand as a person. Pretty much the only time he shut up about Sand's weird poor life was when he was trying to get him to play with his dick. And I think that's very telling about how he sees Sand and what use he has for him.

It also makes a lot of sense why it would suddenly be a problem that *Boston* thought they were together, when he didn't have the same problem with Nick. Oh, part of it is his Mew feelings, I'm sure, but also part of it is he doesn't want Boston to think that he thinks Sand is on his level, and that's...well. We saw shades of this already in the very first episode, so I'm not entirely surprised. I am just disappointed that Sand's not gonna get it for a while yet, if in fact he ever does. For Ray, I really think he's a placeholder until someone that Ray finds worthy comes along. Sure he's fixated on Mew right now but I think the issue is a bit deeper.

I don't think it's entirely conscious but that makes it worse, imo. I think Ray means it when he says he cares about Sand's feelings but I think that care only reaches as far as Sand is useful to Ray - to forget about Mew, to take him out of his own head for a few hours, to drive him home when he's too drunk to do it himself and to sex him up when he's horny.

I'm not saying that it's impossible that Ray won't change - I think change for all these characters is inevitable. I am saying they're gonna have to do a lot of work after this episode to convince me these two can even be *friends*, let alone anything else (although I have been very vocal about not believing these two are endgame anyway so I don't think the show will have to convince me of that lol).

I would eat that up mostly because I love the idea of SandMew. I just want them to make out a little, is that so wrong? Everyone else is!

I kind of love this comment. Especially the last bit. You are right and you should say it. Nick is never ever letting Boston go (whether Boston wants him to or not, probably).

Oh no I'm not saying he was being a friend. He was being a jerk, completely. He was taking his feelings about Top and Mew sleeping together out on Ray and Sand for sure. But he wasn't wrong. *shrugs* Yeah it sucks that he did it out of bitterness and spite but it was something Sand would have had to learn eventually and frankly, I'm not really that mad at Boston about it.

Ray's feelings don't interest me much. I think he's using Mew and Sand (but I think even if he doesn't love either of them, he *thinks* he loves Mew and that makes the difference), and I think what he really needs is to get off the bottle and to get some intensive therapy. Until then it'll just be an endless cycle of him finding someone new to fixate on. Once Sand gets fed up he'll find someone else because that's how life works for Ray. I'm not blaming him, but I think that he needs to do a lot of work on himself before he can be with someone else and my preference for Sand makes me want him to do it far away from him.

I don't think so. I think that both he and Mew feel threatened by each other because they are basically the antithesis of everything the other one believes. And if one of them is happy or gets what he wants, doesn't that mean that the other one is wrong and deserves misery (no, it doesn't, but these are dumb college kids who don't know any better - yet. They'll learn eventually).

I do not think he does, but I think it's possible that at some point he might. I too think that if he does the realization will come after Sand has already washed his hands of him, though...and it will come after Ray uses and discards Sand enough times that even Sand's unending patience will be exhausted. Because he's going to keep doing it.

I don't know if you watched the trailer but there is definitely a scene from there coming up between Sand and Ray and it's...not pretty lol. I will not say more in case you don't know or don't want to know.

Frankly I'm on Boston's side. The way he went about things was awful but lbr, it's something Sand needed to hear. And maybe he needed to see just how violently Ray reacted to have it really penetrate.

There's just no point sticking around waiting for a dude who is focused on someone else. And the sooner Sand learns that the better (although I doubt he'll learn it right away - we've still got at least four trailer scenes with them to get through after all).

To be clear, I am not blaming Ray for his feelings. I will blame him if he continues to use Sand knowing for sure that Sand likes him more (and I think we all know he will), but I don't blame him for liking Mew while fooling around with Sand when he thinks that it's all fun and games.

I think we all know Sand'll be suckered right back in, too. I said I'd defend his wrongs and I'm fully prepared to defend this one, I just wish he wouldn't, lol.

I still don't think Ray's gonna give up his crush. Whether or not Mew ever reciprocates (and I waffle back and forth on that) I think he'll hold onto his love for Mew until it's all he has left. My one curiosity is if we're gonna get a situation where when that happens he realizes he no longer wants it, but it's too late to do anything about it (right now I lean towards him still wanting it, but it's only ep 5).

Should Boston have been that cruel about it? Nope, and I really need to know why he is so bitter about the whole thing. Like yesterday. But I still don't really think he did anything wrong, per se. I know, unpopular. But well. I like the guy who creates the most mess, and Boston is reigning champ.

ETA I will say that the way he escalated it was insane, though. Boston, please stop telling everyone you took photos of your two friends kissing (and video of more? still curious why he's insisting that Mew and Ray slept together. Is it just that he doesn't understand how kissing someone doesn't lead to sex or did we not get everything or is he just doing the fling shit at the wall and see what sticks thing? Come on show spill) that is creepy af and literally the only one in the room who won't judge you for it is Nick (ask him why).

I hope I am. Because if they didn't want me to take the bullying portions more seriously they really should have left pedophilia accusations out of it.

I really want Sand and Mew to interact for more than the five seconds they did when Ray was being drunk & belligerent. Perhaps if I'm very lucky they'll interact without Ray present at all! *dreams*

Look, I am capable of shutting off my brain and just enjoying the fun so this is the last I will say about it but: I am a little confused by how fast Sailom seems to be over all the things Kang did to him. And I am expressly talking about the parents group chat and what he had posted there. Has anyone retracted that? Can Sailom ever go back to tutoring kids or...?

This annoys me. I feel like the scope of what Kang was doing deserves more from Sailom than one moment of hesitation before climbing up on his bike followed by a ton of longing looks, but hey, maybe it's just me who considers messing with my livelihood a no go.

That dispensed with, the show is cute enough. It might not be shaping into what I hoped it would be but I do like Perth and Chimon and they are doing well with the material they've been given. I hope we see some more meat but even if we don't I won't complain again. :D

I have been thinking so too - not necessarily about the crime but that what we're seeing is the past. There's just something about how the intros and outros have been working that makes me think so. Especially the one with the blue screen backgrounds.

Ha, yes. I love romance, it's my primary genre, and I won't pretend that 99.9% of the time I don't want a happy ending with the main couple together and in love. That's what I watch romance for.

But I don't expect it here. I expect that we'll get people winding up single or in relationships they don't really want but would rather have than nothing, or even people *in* the relationship they want but still not fully satisfied, maybe because the other person doesn't really want them or because there are other external problems or because they're just not good for each other. We might even get people who want to be with each other but have to walk away for their own well-being. And it's very possible that the couples we *do* see at the end won't be the ones we started with.

Generally I don't do this kind of thing, mostly because if I'm watching romance I want the escapism, not a depressing reflection of real life, haha. But I'm seated for this for reasons other than romance (although to be fair I also don't think that this show was marketed as a romance at all - I think that people just see the actors and assume), and my main hope is that we see some real growth out of thee characters (yes, all of them) as individuals, and that if it doesn't end in a totally happy place that it at least ends in satisfying way that doesn't make me regret the hours put into watching and talking about this show.

And for Sand to be happy. If he ends the show in a bad place I might never forgive Jojo the insult (joking. Mostly 😋).
