When I say I am here to support Sand's wrongs I need you to understand that I will defend every bad choice that man makes.
He picks up that bat from the mock trailer and goes hogwild? I will be there to defend his choices.
He is the one to reveal the sex tape to someone and blow the whole thing wide open? I will sing "They Had it Coming" at the top of my voice.
He plays doormat for Ray, as the trailer and the trajectory of the show so far indicates (Sand tries to set boundaries, Ray barrels right past them, Sand smiles and shakes his head fondly. Ray and Sand fight and Ray says awful things while Sand cries. Rinse and repeat)? *Sigh* Well, love is stupid (and my unwavering love for the character is why I will defend this bad, bad choice).
/disclaimer I am mostly joking please don't take me too seriously. Tone is hard to read over text so I want to make sure I clarify.
If after 2 years Mew still isn't interested I don't see by what magic he would be now? And it seems that now Ray…
Lol we differ again because I find Top and Mew's dynamic fascinating. It's not my favorite (that would be Boston and Nick, my favorite creepy couple with serious boundary issues), but I am kind of into Mew's everything right now.
I could be wrong, but what I see in Mew is someone who is so very used to always being able to take a step back and analyze his relationships with everyone around him, and now he's getting rocked by a person he's having trouble doing that with. In a lot of ways I see him like I see Sand - someone who has clear boundaries but finds that there's this person who they keep dropping them for. The difference is that Sand seems incredibly aware of it and of how badly it could go for him, while Mew I think is still convincing himself he's the one in control here. But the truth is he keeps giving ground when Top has not done very much to earn it. Mew only wants to give up control on his terms, so he has to convince himself that that's what he's doing, even though it's getting clearer and clearer that he very much isn't.
As for Top, I think he wants to change in some ways but I also think that old patterns are very very easy to fall back into, and whenever he even gets so much as a hint that Mew isn't what he's presenting himself as he flees back into those patterns and tugs them around himself like an old blanket, because it's what he knows, there's no uncertainty here. Which is also why I think that he tends to seem the most in control of his dynamic with Mew when they start getting physical. Because that's something he knows how to do. But feelings? Being vulnerable with someone? Debatable.
I don't think it would make Mew the worst friend ever if he used Ray's feelings for him - not saying it would make him the greatest friend either but I would say it makes him human. It wouldn't be the first time in the world someone responded to heartbreak by going after a sure thing, even if they knew they couldn't return the feelings in question. It's shades of what Ray is doing with Sand now, although I will give Ray that right now he isn't aware of the extent of Sand's interest in him (but I don't believe for a second he's unaware that he has *some* effect - there's some clear manipulation happening between them, even Sand recognizes it even as he capitulates). The real difference there is Ray can have plausible deniability while Mew knows for a fact that Ray is in love with him and thus IF he does use him to get to Top there's maybe some more cruelty in it, although the way I see it happening it's not fully deliberate cruelty, more carelessness and selfishness. If he simply rebounds at Ray, that's different.
These characters are all gonna be selfish and sometimes cruel and thoughtless, I think. I don't think that there's gonna be a set villain or hero because we all have different villains and we are all the heroes of our own story. I like this kind of mess and I can't wait to see what happens, even if (when) all my theories get blown out of the water. :D
I want it to be Mix so so badly. Please drama give me this I can't say I've been good but I can't say I've been…
Agreed they really blindsided me in MLC and now I crave more. If the ex is Mix and he comes back during the present and he and Sand have a lot of wrench throwing unresolved emotions about each other (bonus if Top also has unresolved emotions for both of them, ha) I will love Jojo and co until the end of time.
If after 2 years Mew still isn't interested I don't see by what magic he would be now? And it seems that now Ray…
I *don't* see them working. I see them being dysfunctional and messy af. You seem to be under the impression that I am saying that they will wind up together in the end, and although I *did* consider it as a possibility for a while (Thailand loves their pining BFF finally gets their love tropes okay, and also in these dramas he or she who loves first often "wins" - that's why they exhaust the "I loved you when we were kids" trope), after this ep I am no longer sure about that.
Mew isn't attracted to alcoholics or drug addicts but he's still messing with Top, who isn't going to quit just because Mew is sleeping with him. And while this episode made me enjoy Ray and Mew together for the first time (not as lovers but as friends), all I am really saying is that I can definitely see some mess happening in the future, not that they are in love or that they're totally gonna end up together. It's fine if no one else does - that's why they're called opinions. :D
I am coming at this purely from a character standpoint only. Personally, I am uncomfortable with the shipping culture around the actors and I try not to engage with it too much. For me, Khaotung and Book (or any of them really) are not a part of the equation except for how well they are portraying their respective characters/me enjoying BTS stuff that isn't pure fanservice. So when I say I can see some RayMew messiness, the only thing I am thinking about the actors is how well they'll pull it off/how good their chemistry may or may not be. I'm not thinking of it as breaking up anything, aside from maybe SandRay and TopMew, depending.
Again, regardless of any of that, there is still a lot of show left. Speculation is just speculation, none of it should be serious or taken with more than a few grains of salt. I will be happy with just about any endgame so long as it feels satisfying. But every person is probably gonna have a different idea of what feels satisfying.
If after 2 years Mew still isn't interested I don't see by what magic he would be now? And it seems that now Ray…
I am not saying they'll be endgame. If I'm being entirely honest I'm not sure *anyone* will be.
And it's a TV show. They can split them up in one TV show and then have them do 20 more dramas where they don't. It's all fine, or it should be. Drama "endgames" should be informed by the characters, not shipping culture.
Look, I won't pretend I don't watch romance based shows liking that I know who the endgames will be - this goes for both het and BL dramas. But I also want it to feal earned and organic, not just feel like I know how things will shake out because "oh, this is one of the paired couples so of *course* they'll wind up together." If this drama does have an endgame pair or pairs, I want it to do the work to convince me that it makes sense. I don't care much about paired couples outside of what I'm watching other than I do like knowing that certain pairs of actors that I think have chemistry will likely work together again. I'm not saying that it won't shake out into nice little cp boxes, I just want to feel like it does so because the characters, not because GMMTV was like "we can't split these guys up in a show it might make fans mad and they make us too much money." A pipe dream, I know. But one I insist on dreaming regardless.
If after 2 years Mew still isn't interested I don't see by what magic he would be now? And it seems that now Ray…
I could see Mew yoyoing Ray back in when things go south with Top. Or sleeping with Ray to get back at him (Top, not Ray).
There are no feelings now (although I have seen spec that Mew just doesn't want to deal with Ray's mess which is fair, if odd since he's dealing with Top's), but there's 8 eps left.
Ray is deliberately using Sand as a rebound. He'll still pick Mew if the choice is laid in front of him. We don't know if that'll always be the case (8 eps to go!) but it feels that way to me now.
Personally I'd rather Ray and Sand's inevitable fights occur due to Ray's problems with alcohol and not Mew, but I'm not sure how much they plan to address that at this point - is Sand gonna clock that whenever Ray's around, so is liquor? That he's rarely sober? And what about the drug use Mew mentioned? But probably they will be Mew related lol.
ppl calling sand the only green flag among all of them and here i am sitting like ok what's the catch. what's…
I think anger issues are a very likely possibility. We've seen shades of it already, I think - Sand seems to keep himself very tightly reined in and having problems with lashing out would fit that.
I do not think that Sand is a green flag. I think he might turn out to be a real menace if pushed far enough.
Oh come on. I don't love them either but you don't have to be rude.
Lol I can understand that. Right now half my ire with Ray is that he's gonna hurt Sand! I only start to get twitchy when we start going after other fans. I know it sucks to hear bad things said about the stuff you like most but I just don't feel like we need to be going after each other about it.
Oh come on. I don't love them either but you don't have to be rude.
Eh, it's still character focused as far as I can see. That's fine. The actor stuff makes me roll my eyes a little but what can you expect? Personally I think that everyone is giving exactly what they need to for their roles thus far.
as of 02/09/2023, my ranking of the main characters is:1. boston (favourite)2. mew3. sand4. chueam5. nick6. ray7.…
Currently mine are as follows:
1. Sand (you will pry my love for this guy out of my cold dead fingers) 2. Mew 3. Nick 4. Boston 5. Ray 6. Top 7. Chueam (but only because we barely get to see her and this depresses me)
Oh come on. I don't love them either but you don't have to be rude.
While I get that, I just wish people could stick to disliking the characters or the couple without trying to go after each other. People like what they like. Currently my favorite ship is BostonNIck but I'm not going around saying people only like the other ones because they're boring and predictable.
