AAAAH I loved it. Honestly yes the show could have been more tightly written overall but I don't even care, I adore it. I would watch 5000 more episodes of Dome and Khatha being ridiculous at each other and honestly either Nanon or Gun as The One causing chaos and loving life while destruction rains down. And honestly, I would love for Tay to get more to do, he was underutilized here (I did love him living centuries just to snark at Khatha and then die, but the stinger at the end of the show made me badly want him in a real villain role.
I don't want to hope for a sequel and then be disappointed but if it happened I would watch the hell out of it. Even if it chooses to follow museum curator!Tay instead.
And those damn lilies of the valley make yet another appearance. I see you, show.
Preview makes it looks like The One will be back next ep, still wearing Nanon. Also I've said before (although…
IMO no one here is a literal god, but I think it's clear that Chan, Dome, and The One are not human, either. Alien is just the closest thing to what I really think they are.
The cult is totally trying to resurrect Chan, For them, it has always been about Chan, because of Boon. But that doesn't mean that The One hasn't been pulling strings to orchestrate this for his own ends. Maybe he doesn't want to position himself as their god, but he wants *something*, The destruction of this world, maybe?
The "demon" was just another version of the shadow people that Dome can call up when he's under extreme duress, I thought. I don't think any of the religious stuff is meant to be a strict 1:1, but maybe I'm wrong there. It wouldn't be the first time.
I don't think that The One wants Dome's body - he already said he doesn't like the face much. 😂 Sorry if I was unclear on that. I do think that he wanted exactly what happened, I'm just not sure why. My guess is destruction, though why I'm not sure. Jealousy, if we're going to continue the whole religious motif (as in, he would be Lucifer who was jealous of humans)? Just because it's fun? An attempt to set himself up as supreme ruler of the ashes? Some combo of the three? Hopefully we find out when June finds him.

Personally I dislike the idea of him as a god anyway. I think he was just a man - or alien, I guess - with strange powers who wanted to be able to be entirely himself and whoops, found himself at the head of a cult. But I mean, if we want to get into the weeds of religion, Messiah figures aren't infallible. They do tend to be martyrs, though.

Yes that's what I think! And I think it was all orchestrated by The One, who actually plans to be the one to take over when all is said and done. Or he just wants to bring about Chan's promised end of the world because he's a chaos gremlin and he thinks it would be fun.
I just think that dude is evil. He was in *all black*, man, everyone knows that's code for "the baddie in the script" :D

I didn't get the impression he wanted it much. I thought it was more that he wanted to be able to use his powers and the villagers worshipping him meant that he could and not be judged, which was why he was so keen to keep them onside even at the expense of Khatha's feelings, and why he didn't want to go away with him.
Or maybe he helped because he wanted to, and could, and then Book filled his head with all that "you're too important to be seen with the riffraff" stuff, and he bought into it. But the first feels a little more true.

I think Dome was yoinked from his universe to serve as a replacement body for Chan. Or maybe his species (? I don't know what else to call it haha) has always been able to bop freely between universes - or maybe, ooh, they're supposed to be observers and not interfere - hence why The One knew Khatha even though Khatha had clearly never met him before - only they keep failing at that.
It's so late in the game to be throwing all these ideas at the wall. My money is on The One being a bigger meddler than we have been led to believe thus far, though.
While I agree some characters could've been developed better. I don't think the 'bl ship' is only aspect people…
On the bright side at least the comments aren't entirely like that. I'm happy most people seem to be having fun with this show - some of the stuff I've liked I don't even visit the pages for here because it's wall to wall complaining. I don't hate watch so it just doesn't compute for me, lol.
And to be fair some of the criticism is on point - I don't see the need to take swipes at people who do like it for whatever reason, but I'm also not gonna argue that the show couldn't be tighter.

I'm not harping, dude. I just don't see why you're sticking with this when you don't seem to like it much? Or at least look down on those of us who do.
It kind of feels like you want to have your "criticism", but if anyone disagrees with you, they're harping, or attacking, etc. And so far no one here has done that to anyone else. It's actually all extremely polite.
So what is the purpose of Dome, Chan and The one? Who's the God ? Why all 3 of them have the same appearance?…
Preview makes it looks like The One will be back next ep, still wearing Nanon. Also I've said before (although maybe not here, lol) that The One totally strikes me as a dude who would like to set himself up as a god.
If Dome is the real Jesus figure then he's definitely biting it next ep. But I think that was supposed to be Chan, with Khatha as an inadvertent Judas. Only unlike Jesus, Chan doesn't seem to be in a forgiving sort of mood...

I mean I love trash, some of my favorite shows are trashy, but yeah I don't think I'll ever trust anyone who holds themselves up as the arbiter of good storytelling. Some types of stories work better for some people than others.
This is a little messy, but in a way I kind of like *shrug* It's not for everyone, but honestly I've never seen the point in sticking around for things I don't like, or just *having* to tell everyone how much their taste sucks. That's not me. If I didn't like the show I just...would not be here. There are so many other things to watch out there.

Hm. I kind of hated Alice in Borderland. Bored me so badly I turned it off. Sweet Home was okay, Squid Game was better - easily my favorite of the ones you mentioned. I also quite liked All of Us Are Dead and The Glory, but I imagine you'd take issue with the romance, yes? I find that a lot of the Netflix Kdramas feel like they go off the rails at some point, though*.
*Cleary this is an opinion, not objective fact. Also Netflix is where I get them, not necessarily where everyone does. :D

I know I usually tend to avoid MDL because a lot of people here are never happy with anything, seems like...I liked this page because for once people seemed to be having fun .
I thought that this was a great episode. I don't know if I like it more than I liked episode 6 - episode 6 really worked for me, - but I liked it about as much for sure. I thought that Tum and Phone's story was so tragic - Tum holding back and then spending all those years desperately trying to regain the thing he'd lost. And Khatha's life mirrored it two ways - both with Chan and with Dome. And I love the way that that reflection tied back into what The One told Khatha last ep - stop reaching backwards when there's something to hold onto right in front of you.
I still think that The One is here to mess things up in some way - he strikes me as a bit of a chaos demon, and I'm so glad that he was in the preview for next week. I like him and it's very obvious he's a fun character to play.
More and more I think that we're going to see some sort of history repeating itself thing - don't think I missed that Dome gets a cut on his cheek right where Chan did.
I'm also amused that Khatha can't seem to get that he has the relationship with Dome that he was so desperate to preserve with Chan, and I agree he's probably going to have to choose. At least that's kinda what I hope - I don't want Dome to be Chan at all.
Last but not least, how adorable was Dome's imaginary!Khatha? He was so friendly and helpful. I can't help wondering if that's how Dome perceives the real Khatha or if that's more how he wishes they were. Although it was also pretty funny how the second he laid eyes on real!Khatha he was like "well buddy gotta run, things to do."
I'm looking forward to next week. If it's the end end I don't necessarily need everything explained. But I do need emotional resonance. Half of me is terrified it'll end on some twist that annoys me more than anything else, haha. But that's a risk with any show, really, regardless of length, so I'm actually going into this finale week the same way I would any other.
Didn't they already retrieve all the lost artifacts in ep 4 except the mannequin?
Nanonquin wasn't part of what was stolen, though. He ran out separately.
I actually think that they got most of it - the other stuff was never the point, anyway. It was always only about getting at charred mummy dude (Chan? I'm definitely going with Chan). I guess if someone wanted to be really meticulous about it they could see if they can figure out what was stolen by comparing the room before the robbery and then after.
I don't want to hope for a sequel and then be disappointed but if it happened I would watch the hell out of it. Even if it chooses to follow museum curator!Tay instead.

Or none of it at all, ha.

(maybe, but if so I don't care it was almost entirely a blast)
but you will need a VPN set to Thailand.
