Yeah he’s killing it this season. In fact I find Kiyoi the more sympathetic character now when he seemed more…
Full disclosure I did not find Kiyoi unlikeable, but his reactions to Hira especially were more subtle, probably because we were deliberately being kept in Hira's viewpoint for the first four eps. While Kiyoi watching Hira is there if you look, he's way more open with him now and it's much more obvious that Hira's view of things is kinda messed up. It's honestly brilliant how well they're showcasing reality vs. Hira's head.

Pretty sure the movie is going to be the rest of the 2nd book. I haven't read the third one and it's been a while…
But we still have Anna's secret love, the agency pushing the Anna/Kiyoi "romance" to distract from said secret love, the photographer hiring Hira and the controversy that comes from that (when Hira says he doesn't want to photograph Kiyoi), them moving out together...

I mean it's entirely possible that they're just skipping all that. And I'm curious what trailer you are talking about because the only one I saw I don't recall showing anything that made me think that Hira gets stabbed during the series. Can you link it, please? Or tell me where to find it? I'd appreciate it! I only ever saw the first trailer from gaga.

I will say that I have read a synopsis of the third novel and I can't see that being the movie from the trailer. I guess they could be doing an entirely new thing though.

Well, EY-enjoyers, if you are still here, I just want you to know that you are not alone. I'm still wandering…
Oh I'm still here. I think I'll be here for pretty much ever <3

Ep 3 covered a lot from the book, and now leaves only the big finale for next week. So the question is, what shall…
Pretty sure the movie is going to be the rest of the 2nd book. I haven't read the third one and it's been a while since I read the 2nd, but I don't think it covered a huge chunk. I don't remember Kiyoi storming out before the big fight towards the end, true (and then he wasn't the one to leave but Hira!), but I kinda assumed that that was put in to show where the main conflict is going to come from in the movie. I assume they're gonna smooth it over next ep but the cracks are gonna spread during the movie where we'll get the "break up" bit (and then my favorite part of the second novel, yay!).

Could be wrong, though!

Hira's doing the same thing here he did in the first season. He's wrapping himself so tightly in this belief that he doesn't deserve Kiyoi and so Kiyoi can't truly want him that it's almost become armor, insulating him from what he assumes is the inevitable when Kiyoi leaves. Of course, what he doesn't realize is that in doing so *he's* the one who has one foot out the door.

I'm not the biggest fan of second seasons because they always have to break up the main couple for stupid reasons so that they can try to recapture the magic or whatever, but I love this kind of thing. This makes sense with their personalities and their baggage - that stuff doesn't just go away because you're in love. It has to be actively worked on.

This episode was painful but I liked it a lot. It's setting up the main conflict that I assume will be in the movie quite nicely.

I would just ignore it. People are gonna think how they think, and this drama in particular always has people…
I think we might not get there until the movie, actually. This season seems to be just setting the stage for the meat of the second book, which is what the movie will be. There were definitely scenes in the movie trailer that looked to be from moving into their own place.

I think they're just gonna have his parents move back for work reasons, since that's why they moved away in the drama.

I really liked the first ep. I have been looking forward to this; for whatever reason the trailer gave me the same feeling I got from watching the trailer for Eternal Yesterday, and EY was hands down my favorite drama of 2022. And I'm so happy to see Suzuki Kosuke in a lead role - he was so great in Takara-kun & Amagi-kun.

Hopefully this one doesn't end badly, but I'm definitely strapped in for the ride even if it does.

Am I the only one who hates reading comments blaming Kiyoi for "treating Hira like a servant"?You guys are clearly…
I would just ignore it. People are gonna think how they think, and this drama in particular always has people who just *have* to say how toxic and wrong it is. Giving them attention only encourages them.

That said, there will come a point when Kiyoi stands up financially where Hira can't. And I think it's sweet to see him attempt to take care of Hira the way Hira takes care of him - he really is trying to be a good partner.

I also kind of thought Koyama was hilarious. Probably because he can't do much other than exactly what he did. So petty, and pettiness amuses me. Although I do think that he also cares about Hira and wants him happy. I just think that given the opportunity, he'll always choose to pick on Kiyoi, and that makes me laugh.

And more than 7 weeks' wait for the movie.
That plus up to six more months if you're not lucky enough to be in Japan and see it in cinemas...

This is messy and I am here for it.

I have to say, though that Heart and Li Ming are actually my favorite couple in this so far. This was unexpected as I don't actually like MSP (sacrilege, I know). But I look forward to their scenes most, followed by whenever Khao (and now First; I am having way too much fun watching Alan run around furious) pops up.

Overall I am liking this much much more than I expected to - it feels tight is well paced.

It was a flashback showing how much Kiyoi wanted Hira to confess to him.
I'm talking about the scenes from season one. The one last ep was definitely from Kiyoi's POV, which is probably why it was obvious even without looking that Kiyoi was just waiting for Hira to say something so he could reciprocate properly. :D

It was a flashback showing how much Kiyoi wanted Hira to confess to him.
Those scenes were entirely from Hira's POV though, remember - although I do think they happened, I doubt we got everything as Hira would only focus on the parts that fit his view of his relationship with Kiyoi. Or at least that's how I'm handwaving it. :D

The beginning scene was from a side story - Sweet Osmanthus.

Is it really a power imbalance if Wen doesn't actually need the job and can leave at any time?
Oh, sorry. I don't think they outright said it or anything. But it's pretty clear during ep 2 if not before, I think. :)

i might be speaking too soon (i hope i am) but there's not going to be a power imbalance in both main relationships…

AAAAAH they're back and I'm so happy. I was coming over all nervous in the lead up to the episode, but now that it's here and I've watched it I am just ready to enjoy myself and these two.

And this episode was great. The little date was adorable, and I could watch Kiyoi be jealous and Hira oblivious all day. Hira's constant doomy doomy dooming was a little less fun, but well. It's Hira. He spirals. I loved that Kiyoi is still his grumpy self, but is also more affectionate and sweet, too - his pouty face when he wanted to be fed and Hira didn't get it cracked me up. Poor thing.

I like that you can kind of already tell that the conflict is going to come from how Hira perceives things vs. how they really are - I hope they keep leaning into how skewed his view of things is.

Title Between Us
I loved it. I had no preconceived notions of this series as UWMA was never on my radar (I just don't care about fated mates and reincarnation, sorry), so I came in fresh with zero expectations of how the story should go, and I think it served me well.

I also found it when it was well into the series, starting just before ep 10 aired, and I think that it served me well too, because I didn't have a week between each episode to obsess and get angry about no one talking to each other. This show was very internally driven, which I find does better well on binging rather than watching week to week.

I felt like the reasons that both Win and Team had for hesitating were very well done, even if I can also understand how it was frustrating to watch from the outside. I was not frustrated, myself, being the type of person who can't communicate emotions well on top of becoming immersed in the story enough that I could see it from their POVs. The hesitation felt very real for two people who are 1 - still fairly young and 2 - have the specific hang ups that they both have surrounding love and whether or not they deserve it/can keep hold of it.

I do wish that Team's trauma had been addressed a little more thoroughly. To me that was the biggest misstep of the drama, followed by maybe too many side couples. I was 100% in it for Team and Win, and all of the side stuff started to get annoying after a bit (thank goodness for the ffwd button).

it also made me a fan of both Prem and Boun. I honestly didn't even know about these two before this but thanks to this show they are extremely on my radar and I look forward to whatever they wind up doing next, even if it isn't together (although I won't lie, I hope they have more projects together because their chemistry is lovely).

Eh, I kind of get where people are coming from, especially since it's too common for sequels to break the couple…
Late and it's been a minute since I've read the novel, but...*extra warning spoilers for the stuff towards the end of the 2nd novel*

Basically Hira is Hira and he keeps believing that this thing is temporary, and Kiyoi gets angry at him and breaks up with him in an attempt to kind of teach him a lesson (not really a break up he just wants Hira to fight, but Hira being Hira...does not and then Kiyoi is kind of stuck with a breakup he doesn't really want. Plus Kiyoi is sore about a misunderstanding over what Hira wants to photograph). Then Kiyoi vows to wait him out but can't even really manage that and is about to text him when he gets kidnapped. Then Hira comes to his rescue and gets hurt and Kiyoi loses all of his shit. Then they make up.

All of that is my favorite bit. I already loved Kiyoi but I really love him in this one.

God I hope this isn’t their new series they announced a few days ago. Rumor has it Prem didn’t want to do…
There's nothing wrong with camp if it's done well!
