One kills for a cure to save many, another kills to stop others being harmed. One is a righteous lawyer who has to defend a murderer to save his child, another is a righteous detective who had to work with a murderer to investigate cases.

Putting aside how Wang Xing Yue stars both drama, Unveil: Jadewind and The Wanted Detective both centers around crime solving themes, a central plot that drives their pursuit of justice, female main characters that have great martial arts skills, and ensemble characters that have their own roles in the investigations. Both dramas also have some fantasy elements too in some of the cases.

Apart from crime solving, slow burn romance, and a story that runs case by case, the cinematography is stunningly similar. There are some differences with the color grading with Unveil: Jadewind being on the warmer tone while Judge Dee’s Mystery on the cooler tone, but the overall quality and look is pretty much the same.

Destined and Youthful Glory’s similarities lies in the arranged marriage trope, love after marriage, and their female and male leads.

At some point in the stories, both female lead also experiences loss of their family member, although brief. These women are also great support for their husbands in different ways.

Aside being skilled in martial arts, the male leads are also similar in a way that they both work in politics and are more than ready to go to war if needed. Most striking similarity is the bad boy and good girl trope. Both dramas feature male leads with a hard life driven by poverty and family issues. Despite so, both men are actually smart. Both are smart in math. One specially talented in coding, the other in engineering.

Another similar trait is their domineering tendency. The two dramas feature alpha, masculine men who like control over their work, life, and also their partners. Not to mention, both male leads also sustained injuries at some point in their respective dramas.

Aside from the male leads, the female leads also possess striking similarities. The two female leads are cute, smart, pretty, and definitely take the lead when it comes to expressing feelings. They are two women who never backs down and always push through until they get their men, not in a bad toxic annoying way though!

Plot wise, both dramas have the same flow from bickering partners/siblings relationship, to love, breakup, then reconciliation. And obviously during the breakup phase, everyone was still hung up and stayed single.

The core similarity lies in the intelligent and smart female leads, as well as the strong business acumen in both dramas. The ride is not smooth. Both female leads experiences ups and downs in their business and all those successes and failures are shown in both dramas. They dive into the businesses themselves and took matters into their own hands. Of course, strong and reliable men were there, but mostly to support them by being someone to talk to and someone to protect them against physical harm.
