I dragged recommending this. As i rewatched musume wa kareshi ga dekinai, I felt the chaos is at par with we are all trying here. But it took me 6 episodes on the rewatch to finally submit a recommendation.

If you are imoressed with the writing of the korean one, you will get a lot of that in japanese. They are thoroughly words based. Even in manga versus webtoons. A page of a manga is filled with bubbles, be it conversation or monologues. Webtoon has more spaces in between and sceneries that convey. So in this case, we are all trying here feels so japanese. Hwang Dong Man and his million of words reminds me so much of being straight out of japanese manga panels.

The characters in musume are so complex too.

Spoiler : we have stalker and victim tandem, a doctor that is stuck with his elementary classmate, old man x college age student. Dad mom and musume is a bit odd too if you think much about it.
But the writing makes them so much of a humane that it is enjoyable. You think it is fantasy but also, it is convincing that such characters live somewhere in real japan.

Both are unique and wholesome and definitely a watch!!!

The dad and daughter combination is strong on both. If you want romance, 18 again is the one for you. If you want no romance, reborn rookie is for you. But if you watch for relationships explorations while being a different body, then both is for you :)

Both have the same plot of boss is in a dilemna and ordinary guy is forced to help him maintain his company.

Both tells the story of the struggles of writing. And they both made me wish to be a writer so bad.

Kakenai is more on the comedy side - a funny take on the pain of writing. While We are all trying here is more on the serious side of writing but still journeyed us with the pain of it.

Both are enjoyable, thought provoking and a fun ride :)

Those who like "We Are All Trying Here" descibe it as atypical.
So I think this recommendation is just fitting. The leads of both dramas are not the most likeable heroes in dramaland. This was more of a journey rather than a destination feel of drama. If you can tolerate flaws, and not bothered by "corrupt" in your main characters, then you will enjoy both dramas.
The atypical is more romance focused, a good news for those who wants more of dong man and eun a being lovely dovey. Hahahaa.

They both have the lie-driven plot. Frustrating, but the character development is present, so i think it has at least compensated. The characters without the lie are all loveable. But if not for the lie, the plot will not move forward, so you want it to end but unknowingly, we enjoy it because of the lie established.

Both are a great watch despite the frustrating lie :)

The 2nd lead female are also loveable in both. Veronica Park and Ha Yeong <3

Will be waiting for more dramas where in the trope be inverted. We want a rich female lead. QOT

Both have the same energy for chaos.
Both have the legendary Kichise Michiko.
Both have memorable characters and relationships.
Handler tackles about manager×artist while kakenai talks about screenwriting×production.
For me, they are the prequel and sequel of one another, knowing it shows us the entertainment industry. :)

Ahhh, time to rewatch kakenai but it is no longer available in netflix..

The most obvious similarity is that the idol group is struggling and is in danger of disbanding.

The more subtle is the feeling you accumulate in each and every episode. It is a nice contrast of Japanese and Korean and a girl group and a boy group. In my opinion, both are very rewatchable. Definitely a must watch if you like dramas about idols, dreams, coming of age..

I miss the time when I was watching Gokusen as an early teen.
Growing up, I really want to be a passionate teacher like Yankumi. Fast forward to year 2025, running almost a decade of teaching experience, I now sympathize more to Shizuka Urumi sensei (the reluctant preacher jdorama).. I am now fed up and just mostly driven by my feeling of annoyance and yet find ways to still be effective. ??

The year before and after pandemic with f2f classes really made me feel like yankumi were in I was stuck with the hardest class, and now I have evolved to be this new breed of Shizumi sensei. ?

Keep the teacher jdoramas coming!!!

the age dynamics of the siblings are the same
9-19-29-39

in 9 border it narrates life of 3 sisters. in plus nine boys, it shows the lives of brothers with a superstition of age ending in 9.

both bad lands and scams target the same age group (soft spoiler alert : they target the elderly). And yes, the writers will let you root for the scammers. hehehe
Because we are basically looking into the perspective of the perpetrators, it gives the audience the thrill of making out to the final episode if they had their happy ending or justice to the victims. This seems a no-brainer because both ending are possible, we are at the mercy of the luck of the main leads and the sovereignty of the writers. But the satisfaction of completing this kind of films are always worth it :)
