It might also put Mudan in a danger if JCY's enemies connect the dots about his particularity aka "his feelings" for her. Having multiple concubines is the normal in this era, and refusing a woman gifted by an influential figure is a slap in the face and has repercussions. There are a lot of power dynamics playing out, they can't just happily play house like the society around them doesn't exist.

I'm having the same feelings after the recent episodes, they made Mudan too good to be true. She excels at everything she does and even though she encounters some setbacks, it only takes her some minor effort to overcome them and she always wins no matter what. At this rate she's going to pass Wei Yingluo lol

Wang Qing is probably a narcissistic psychopath, he enjoys hurting people. He should be locked up and the key tossed away. Liu Chang on the other hand is a spoiled brat with low self-esteem and anger issues. He's not harmless but definitely different than Wang Qing imo.

The princess was not aware she was being punished for something though, I thought that part rather silly. She somehow has a habit of following Liu Chang on foot only with a single maid (very uncharacteristic of a pampered and haughty princess) and Mudan conveniently finds this out and sets a trap for her somewhere in the whole wide forest, which she with amazing accuracy falls in? Too many coincidences imo.

I agree. Shengyi has extreme self-worth issues, she loathes herself and her returning to her abusive ex is a twisted way of punishing herself. It's a vicious cycle. People like her believe they deserve the abuse they receive. The drama handled this storyline very skillfully imo.
