I believe that’s Crown Prince Ao Yu of Nanjue — the same person Xiao Se mentioned in Season 1. He’s the one Xiao Se gambled against at the Grand Golden Terrace, where Xiao Se won an entire city in Nanjue.

In the novel, Ao Yu already shows up during the war arc near the ending. Ao Yu and Xiao Se fights in the war, when Xiao Se leads reinforcements in the final part of the story.

It’s just unfortunate that the drama skipped over that entire war segment, jumping straight to the part where Xiao Se returns and he announced the new emperor.

She’s booked, but most of her projects haven’t been released yet. And I totally get what you mean, Lin Boyang really has a unique taste when it comes to choosing her roles. She’s the type who enjoys exploring different genres and challenging herself with new characters, so we might not always get the kind of projects we personally prefer from her. Unlike many actresses who often take on idol dramas, she rarely does those. Considering that her mentor is the legendary director Zhang Yimou, it’s not surprising that her career leans toward more artistic, unconventional, and meaningful works.

It’s mainly because of the poor script and character writing for Sikong Qianluo. In the novel—the original source—she’s not that clingy or overly attached to Xiao Se. Her affection for him is there, but never her entire personality. She’s confident, strong-willed, and carries herself with quiet pride.

In the book, Qianluo has many powerful and memorable lines that truly capture her strength and independence, but in the drama, a lot of those lines were given to Xiao Se instead. It really lessened her depth and made her come across as more of a side character revolving around him rather than standing as her own person.

Another detail the drama missed was her overall aura and style. In the novel, she’s often described as wearing black—a color that reflects her maturity, discipline, and the cool, composed temperament of a spear master. But in the series, her styling and portrayal leaned too much toward a girlish and childish version of her, which feels out of character.

Its like they cast Lin Boyang base from the novel version but makes her look and act like the anime version.

Overall, the drama watered down what made Sikong Qianluo so captivating in the novel. She’s supposed to be a character of strength, elegance, and quiet dominance, not just the “girl who likes Xiao Se.”

there will be new characters, like Ao Yu from nanjue. The anime version of TBOY S2 will come out first and the new animation team already released a 1 minute PV, in the trailer you will see the anime new designs and a glimpse of the storyline.

Xiao Se and Ye Rouyi were never really possible.

If The Blood of Youth had focused more on political intrigue and Xiao Se’s path to the throne, then Ye Rouyi would indeed be the most suitable match for him. Ye Rouyi’s intelligence and tact could easily complement an emperor’s burden, and together they’d form an ideal political partnership. But wouldn’t that be too predictable? Meanwhile, Xiao Se chose Jianghu over the imperial court. That’s why Sikong Qianluo fits him best. She belongs to the martial world he yearns for, free, passionate, and unbound by rules. Xiao Se fell for her stubborn courage, her straightforward honesty, and the fierce loyalty she shows to those she loves. Unlike the women of Tianqi, Qianluo never hides behind masks or politics. She fights with her heart on her sleeve, and Xiao Se, who has lived his life behind layers of disguise, finds that honesty both disarming and refreshing.

For everyone who's Re-watching, First time watching, and will watch this drama. PLEASE DON'T HATE MY GIRL SIKONG QIANLUO, ESPECIALLY THE ACTRESS LIN BOYANG.

Both the character and actress are a very good person. She's not Ugly. In fact she's very pretty. It's just that her styling here didn't do her any justice.
