I agree on MHIYD. What a waste of Yoon Eun Hye. I hope she picks a better project next time. Though after watching King of Dramas if the industry really works like KoD showcased, she probably thought she DID have a good project and didn't know it was going to be such a disaster.

Oh, Lee Jin Wook in Nine. He's great. I followed him to I Need Romance 2. He's good in that one as well. I'll be interested to see how long you stick it out with Heirs. I know, Lee Min Ho! What the heck?! I loved him in City Hunter and then this? Absolutely horrible. If I had to pick anyone from that show, I DID like Woo Bin. His character was a prick but he acted it extremely well. I'll give him kudos. Don't get me started on Love is the Moment! Urgh! If I had to pick the most disappointing drama I've ever seen Marry Him If You Dare would be at the top. What a waste of a great premise.

I absolutely LOVED King of Dramas up until the last episode or so. I agree with you about Myung Min, he was great in that role. You're watching Nine. LOVED, LOVED that one! I hope you enjoy it, I thought it was done really well. Gap Dong is too current for me. I've got a self-imposed ban on current series right now after being disappointed by several other current ones. I'l check them out when they're complete and worth watching. I haven't heard of Once Upon a Time. Ack! Heirs. Good luck. Either you're fancrazy and will love it or like me, it will drive you crazy with how badly written it is. I dropped it with 2 or 4 episodes to go. I've looked at Sungkyunkwan Scandal several times but haven't started it for one reason or another. Mostly because it's historical. Not that I don't watch historical but it's got to be GOOD for me to commit to one. I haven't watched Arang for the same reason.

Nice to meet you too! I'm between dramas right now. How about you? I finished King of Dramas the day before yesterday. I don't know what to pick next. Last night I watched movies instead. I hadn't seen any in awhile. I loved Reply 1994, as much if not more than 1997. I thought the friendships gelled better in 1994. It reminded me A LOT of my college days so that may have biased my opinion though. If you watch it I'd love to hear your take on it and the differences.

Ok, ok. Maybe completely logical was a bit much. I'll aim for "for the most part" logical. As for more mature themes I started watching for dramas from TvN. Nine and the I Need Romance series came from there (#2 was my favorite). After watching the 1st of the Romance series I realized they didn't seem to do the fish kiss stuff. I was thinking it was because it was more like cable stations in the US. They tend to push the norm more than the major 3 networks. Sure the normal cliches are still there but the more mature themes make it more bearable to me.

Oh NO! No more fish kisses! I don't think I can watch anymore of those. In the beginning I just accepted it. Now that I've seen dramas that have realistic skinship I don't think I could go back. Or to have no kisses at all (if it's a romance). One of my biggest disappointments was Mirae's Choice. I watched that one because of Yoon Eun Hye, who I consider one of the best at carrying a love scene. Man, what a waste there! No kisses at all, let alone fish ones. And if any drama needed something it was that one. What a disaster!

I'll skip the other Lovers trilogy dramas. It's harder to watch a GOOD one now. Things can grate my nerves. Lame 2nd leads, distance separations, obvious misunderstandings, silly/dumb girl leads, gratuitous tragedy. I want strong, smart characters with good banter. The writing has to be sharp. Romantic tension a plus. And of course, it must be LOGICAL!

I'm glad I watched Lovers. Just after you watch it you start to analyze things and I have a habit of picking things apart. I want, need perfection! Lol. I do have to say the romance scenes were better than most. No fish kisses, thank goodness. Speaking of which how are the other 2 dramas in this trilogy? I know you said you thought Lovers was the best of the 3. Are the others even worth watching?

Re: Mi Joo's character in Lovers. I thought she was weepy towards the end. It seemed like she was always depressed and crying. I know she didn't have the love she wanted and all that but buck up girlie! I do fault the writer for this. All the angsty staring they shared eventually lost it's power and had the opposite effect. I just wanted them to get on with it. I was also upset with the rationale from Kang Jae to separate Mi Joo & his ex at the end at the hospital. What?! You send them off with 1/2 your man power to protect them? That was just dumb in my opinion(which Sang Taek tried telling him if I remember correctly). To me, he caused his best friend/right hand man's death. I got the impression at the beginning of the drama Kang Jae was a smart cookie, then he did THAT at the end. Not so smart dude. I know it was done for dramatic effect but when I can TELL that's why? No bueno.

I so agree with you about Delightful Girl. What a great premise but such a mess. It was disappointing. It started off well but by the end I was left wondering why I hung on through the whole thing. I watched it early in my kdrama viewing and hadn't learned abandoning them is sometimes a good thing. I don't know if I'd finish watching that one nowadays. I'm on episode 10 on 9 End 2 Outs. It's not so much of a comedy as I thought it was going to be. Lots of serious situations about being a 30 something in relationships (or not), about careers, futures, etc. The best friends relationship is pretty awesome though and I'm holding out for their "love" realization. hehehe...

Lovers was ok. I don't think I ever really connected with the main actress. I liked her character better at the beginning. She got a little weak towards the end. I did think City Hall was better. The lead (the mayor) was such a strong woman. I wish Kdramas had more roles like that. The weepy roles are starting to test my patience. Speaking of which, Scent of a Woman has such a character. The lead actress is simply phenomenal in that drama. Don't let the ending scare you off. I don't want to spoil anything but the ending is not as bad as you imagine. Trust me. I too won't watch dramas where they die in the end. I do spoil it for myself sometimes and research how a drama ends before I start watching it. I know, I'm no fun. Princess' Man was good. I have to admit I did fast forward through some of the political stuff. I'll be curious to hear your take on it.

Lovers was ok. I think maybe it was the gangster backdrop I didn't get into. It did have one good connection scene between the lead couple. The end was the standard I can't be with you because you deserve better than me stuff.

I've switched to a Chinese drama now, In Time With You. I'm only 2 episodes in but I like it. I like the premise even though I've seen it before. Best friends who are close but not realizing what they've got in each other. I already see their chemistry but of course they don't see it yet. It's got me hooked already. How about you? Have you gotten into the world they live in or did you switch to something else?

Lovers is definitely a Kim Eun Sook drama. I would have been able to tell she wrote it even if I didn't know going in. I like it but I think her City Hall and Gentleman's Dignity were better. Her Secret Garden was my all time favorite. Of course, I should withhold my opinion until I've seen the whole thing I suppose. I'm currently on episode 15. I'll be finishing it tonight.

One thing I'm starting to realize about watching Kdramas is the order in which I watch them affects my perception. I think everyone's views are going to be skewed depending on what they watched when and how they felt at that particular time. This is my 5th Kim Eun Sook drama and I'd say I liked them in the order I've seen them. Except for Heirs which in my opinion was an anomaly for her(maybe because she was writing a 'high school' setting drama?). I don't think I would have like that one even if I saw it first!

I am with you on wanting to see more adult characters dealing with adult problems. I'm tired of watching the fish kiss, wide-eyed innocent girls. I know we've talked about City Hall but Scent of a Woman was another excellent adult situated drama. I don't know if you've seen that one because it has one of your most dreaded cliches-the lead actress has cancer. I almost didn't watch it because of that but I'm glad I did. The chemistry between that couple was amazing. Favorite scene of all time:

A friend showed me this scene and I watched the drama based on this clip alone! LOL

I'm enjoying Lovers. I'm into episode 11 now. The stares between the two are quite intense. I think KES loves using stares to show attraction. If you ever watch Heirs she uses it extensively in that one! LOL

The fight scenes have that camera bobbing all over the place. I think it's supposed to make it look more dramatic. I just wish they would hold the camera steady so you can SEE the action. It makes me think that they thought the fighting wasn't good so they better scramble up the shot so the audience doesn't notice. It has that feel to me.

I'm definitely more into how this couple is going to get together. I don't really care for how Mi Ju is rebounding with Se Yeon right now. I would have preferred her to just be a strong woman and be by herself knowing she can't have Kang Jae. She seemed stronger at the beginning of the drama. I'm looking forward to seeing how it plays out.

Maybe because Secret Garden was one of the first dramas I watched it holds a special place in my heart. I rather liked the banter between Hyun Bin & Ha Ji Won. Actually that's what I look for in dramas. Great banter. Lovers also has it though KES has done it better. City Hall and Gentleman's Dignity were really good with it. They're arguing with each other but underneath it all they really like each other. Though I do remember with Secret Garden Ha Ji Won truly didn't like him in the beginning, it took her longer. And with Hyun Bin he didn't know WHY he liked her but that he couldn't get her off his mind. I loved it. I do give you that their love scenes had no chemistry. Ha Ji Won can not carry a love scene (I have yet to see a good one with her). I like to imagine if Yoon Eun Hye had played Gil Ra Im. I consider her chemistry with leads phenomenal. It would have been amazing.

Title The Heirs
Woo Bin was the only thing worthwhile in this hot mess. I watched all but the last 4 episodes and only lasted that long because of him. Yeah, his character was a SOB but he played it well so I gotta give him props. Other than that, this drama was a huge disappointment.

I think you are the first person I've heard that doesn't like Secret Garden so you shocked me a bit there. LOL Heirs was pretty bad but you can give it a shot. I did try to watch it. The writer of Secret Garden (which I adored). That star studded cast. But it was a mess. I dropped it with only 4 episodes left. I just couldn't take it anymore. Though I can say Woo Bin had the best role of the whole show. He was amazing. I hung in there as long as I did just to watch him. I followed him to School 2013 after watching Heirs. Then got to see him a little in Gentleman's Dignity too. I'm into Lovers episode 6. So far I'm liking it. The fight scenes make me a bit dizzy with the way they're filmed but that's a minor thing. I just fast forward past them. I'm definitely curious to see how the relationship develops with the lead having a pregnant (what do you call her? girlfriend?) in the mix.
