Lost the magic in the middle

From ep 1-6 this is really good, after that the writers lost it.
In ep 6 itself it gets confusing cause both of them confess that they like each other but for some reason they decide to split up. After that we give the fl a split personality disorder to show the fl opening up to the male lead ( instead of her just facing her trauma and trying to heal) and then the disorder suddenly goes away one day?? even the 'reveal' at the end didn't do much. It does not even feel like she truly got over her trauma.
When our leads got together it didn't connect with me emotionally cause so much of the story was taken up by the alter ego- do rami.
The locations and the 'translating' concept were nice

Simple rom-com

I really liked the comedic style of this show, with our male lead being a Ken-like character and all. The part where the leads get to know each other is fun but other than that this gets boring. I think they should have extended the part where they get try to start dating by making the fl a bit more reluctant to date a student's guardian. A lot of kdramas do this, give one of the leads some issue which makes them meet the other lead/or a breakup in the middle of the series but it does not affect the way they act. Bom was hurt enough to cut off her family and was very cold in the beginning but she changed quickly, like that allegation didn't affect her at all.

All the side plots were boring af, I hate when they focus on the rest of the ppl especially in these small town shows. It makes sense to focus on other characters but its always the same thing. The story between Han Gyul and Sejin was realistic but still annoying. I had to skip so much these two plot points

The poster and Miyeon's ost is good

its just there

felt really anti-climate/not satisfying. they actually didn't need to split this at all but i digress.
idk if its the way i consumed it but this was a chore to watch. the biggest mistake that happened was making us not care abt the contestants in the end. all the ppl that the audience grew an attachment/knew something were dead before the finale. by the last game we had a bunch of ppl who we don't even remember the names. even though they introduced new games it didn't bring anything much to the show. i can't even sympathize with our main character. i like the concept of how the game was ended/destroyed but it didn't feel satisfying with the amount of deaths. well what can i say, end of a franchise

the message of this whole show feels like a boomer telling that depression is made up and mental health problems don't exist.
the way they depicted suicide in this was very weird.
the issues yeejae faced were very relevant and true problems faced by many young adults which they could have tackled in a better manner. here they have shoved everything aside and said 'hey u have 2 people who care abt u'. yeejae was suffering so much and is in such a bad mental space, the current situation of the world drove him into death and death comes out all offended over him saying death is his way of escaping pain. a person who is considering suicide is not in the headspace to see through the fog in their mind. and in this show, the main reason they give for him to live is his mom and gf but by death's timeline they also die within a few weeks, so will it be okay for him to die then? yeejae, a person who worked hard all his life faces 12 punishments for his decision but an evil person like taewoo (who btw is responsible for almost all the deaths) gets to live comfortably for so long?
i really liked the plot of living through 12 different people and avoiding deaths and learning about their lives. even the way all 12 of them were connected to each other was amazing.
the drama could have worked better if the mc was someone evil who used death to escape punishment on earth OR if death was purely an evil entity who was just punishing him for entertainment. death was too preachy, always so superior. and her giving him a chance to re-live just destroys all the superior act she pulls in the series. i would have enjoyed her more if she was just pure evil.
im not saying suicide is the answer(it never is) but giving this as a solution to it? nah
the drama had so many familiar faces in it, it was a fun to see people pop-up here and there. all the actors did their characters full justice (even the baby)

if u want a cute romcom with pretty leads, u will love this drama
if u wanted a angsty-female ceo x demon-contract marriage, this is not it. i went in excited with high expectations and i was very much disappointed.

this drama was very very similar to destined with you. the demon is not demonic at all, his powers are like his silly quirk. even though do-hee is a ceo, she doesn't do much work-related and her whole workplace is just a place for comedy
there were so many plot holes/things that did not make sense. like how is she super rich but has less security than common people. also the reasoning for gu-won to become a demon also is very weak, so is seok-min's intentions.

do-hee and gu-won were almost instantly attracted to each other and fell in love quickly, after that the plot was predictable. fan theories were more fun that the actual story

the cast did well, especially kim you-jung and song kang. their chemistry was great but that was it

felt like it was more abt ajin than enigma

i like how they are going with the concept of black magic entering ppl's life when they are in a pressurized system like school, acting politics. all the characters were fun and the actors did a great job.
I'm just mostly confused on how this connects to the first season with the school and all. the first season had a layer of mystery abt it and focused on the black magic/enigma part but this season focused on the dress and ajin as a character so it did not have that thrill of the first season.
Its been a year since the first season aired and i don't remember it clearly but ajin as the character is a bit confusing from s1 and s2.
If they are going to do a s3 its going to kind of predictable

Literally the cutest show ever
A milklove show is something people have been waiting forever and we finally got it.
Such a warm show with even more cute characters. Ongsa is such a cute loser, I can’t help but laugh (and slightly cringe) when she does embarrassing things. Sun stays true to her name, being the positive light throughout. Aylin, Luna, Alpha, the teachers and friends, honestly such a loveable group of characters. And don’t get me started on how cute Aylin and luna were. How their relationship started and progressed were beautiful. All the actors were great too, an ensemble cast actually.
The sets were great too. The attention to detail is amazing, Ongsa’s room filled with space stuff, her phone case, Sun’s handkerchief and her bike, Aylin’s room and caps etc. All the aesthetics were great too.
Many people complain that the focus was too much on other characters, I would not say the issue was the focus on the other characters but the fact that the series was too short for 3 couples + 1 side character story and 2 conflicts for the main couple. They could have made the series a bit longer. 23.5 being the first gmmtv gl has to open new doors for other wlw couples and they did it for viewjune. Many people have started to pay attention to view-june as a pair and have started to ask for a show for them, even view has gotten attention individually. They have also given a space for godji and golf to be another couple. All of them deserved their own space. The show needed more time
They could not develop the characters much, especially Sun, we kind of know her character but not that deeply. After the earth conflict was solved, there wasn’t much to do about ongsa-sun and the last fight did not do anything. They just created a conflict for the sake of it. It could have worked if they addressed the issue of Sun outing multiple people and not seeing this out of perspective but they turn it make it seem like Ongsa is the one wrong here without addressing their lack of communication. Luna and Aylin’s relationship also seemed to have issues but they didn’t show it properly. Even the scene where Aylin opens up about bullying, they inserted Mawin, they could have made him relate to her or something.
Another issue I have is that they didn’t try much to make them ‘real’. Where are their parents most of the time? They are high school students but we didn’t see them studying or having classes much, especially after they started dating. What is their school routine? Alpha and Luna were in the school head club but never seemed to be helping the other students or interacting with them. Even the astrology club was left to dust. They could have included them in their dating era too. The teachers weren’t even seen teaching. Sun wasn’t seen with her friends after they started dating etc etc
Their past was also confusing, how does ongsa already have friends if she just moved there, did she move there alone or was alpha already studying in that school? What about aylin’s parents? Her past? Why is onsga so distant with her parents? Many were not clear
Anyways this was a very cute show. Milklove were great and made me happy. I hope they get more projects together. Hoping for a viewjune gl next year! Ongsa-sun and Aylin-luna will be always in my heart

a decent show to let the ship of skynani sail

the only thing i asked from this show was for it to not be trash like some of gmmtv's shows and it delivered. but i would not say this was great or enjoyable by any means.
the show was well made in terms of sets and costumes. overall from a cinematography or aesthetic part this was good. but it was so damn repetitive.
we had a few major plot points but we kept circling around them by having the same conversation. up to ep 6, where we find out the reason for the friendship breakup, we keep on having the same conversation with saint and shin. the exact same set of dialogues were repeated for so long. same with the principal-teacher convo or any other conflict. we would repeat the same conversations which do nothing to move the story.
they could have distributed the storylines a bit more evenly, felt like we only focused on saintshin for the first half and suddenly everyone has a problem towards the end.
it might be the cultural thing but i could not understand the school system nor the two different campus things. people like this would have been suspended in my high school long ago. i could not also take some of the things they do/say cause they are supposed to be 11th graders here.
a lot of the back stories did not match the present for me. saint was so gentle abt shin in the past, the violence to him seems very out of character.
i feel like some of the other side characters could have some more depth as they were shown to blindly follow some leader. saint and the girls were shown to be close in the beginning but that friendship was not shown again.
i also lowkey didn't like how they showed chadjen. he was either a cute/weak character used to strengthen other's friendships.
the earlier episodes reminded me of home school the series so much. doesn't help that its the same director with almost the same cast. view, kay and the twins almost play the same characters in both the series.

nani impressed me so much. this is his best acting after f4. his works after that were very bad but he nailed this role. glad to see his improvement.
saintshin were friends on paper but the way sky and nani portrayed them added a layer of romance to it. almost all the episodes i was screaming at them to kiss. sky too gave a good performance
the rest of the cast were good too. this was bonnie's first series (i think) and she did well. can't wait for her gl next year. and viewjune, what we could have had. happy to see them together one last time.

so overall a decent show, this might be something skynani fans look at fondly after a few years.

A very good romance drama

now that's a romance kdrama right in up alley.
we had an interesting male & female lead with unique characteristics which actually affect their characters and their lives instead of following the cookie cutter model. her being a shaman and his history with shamans was a good setup. the love triangle was also great, with the writers making it the comedic relief of the story rather than drama. all the characters had back stories ( even the so called villains) which made them complex and made me look at their actions with more nuance.
im not usually interested in the shaman stuff but they brought out the story well by making it a fantasy aspect. i thought i would be confused by it all but the drama did a good job of showing/explaining things without spoon feeding stuff.
this drama had the exact amount of angst and yearning that i crave. the yearning even till the end, chef's kiss.
both the leads were great and had good chemistry, hope they work together more in the future

A fun rom-com

This one was fun.

The whole virtual boyfriend thing was so ridiculous (and scary). I think they were trying to go for a swoon worthy male options but all of those scenarios were really fun to me. All of them looked a bit weird on this show though, I wonder if they edited/filtered their faces cause all those actors are usually very handsome.

I liked how slowly Mirae and Gyeongnam relationship developed. We could see that he liked her even before his virtual lookalike appeared. I would have loved to see more scenes from his pov.

They handled the aftermath of the app as well as they could. Its just such a weird situation. We get to see that Mirae healed from her insecurities by herself so it took the weirdness away.

The sets and locations were so beautiful!!! The budget was put to good use. The cameos were such a fun addition too, I wished they didn't reveal it before the show aired.

I would have rated this higher if we had some more episodes of them dating in real life and dealing with the whole app thing in a more detailed way.

The acting was just standard rom-com acting, I wish Jisoo's next project is something a bit dark.

The ending lost me

the concept of this show is good and the 5 episodes are great with good plot to keep u on the edge of your seat. but they just completely give up on everything in the last episode. was it supposed to be a cult thing???? is this show trying to convey that ppl put too much on sex/are ashamed of sex?? or are they trying to show it as a bad thing and people who do it should be removed from the world???
maybe it could be just bait for a 2nd season

the cases and the connection to the lines was interesting and i love that the victims/perpetuators are connected. they should have kept that going

lee soohyuck looked amazing (as always)

what kdramas have been missing

this stays true to its name, a sweet and mellow series. it deals with the themes of grief and love very well. the characters are not anything new but they are well developed and have good arcs. usually kdramas have characters with interesting careers but they don't do anything with it but here it was so fun to watch a film critic who loved movies and a director who hates movies fall in love. there were so many lines in this which were so good, i felt like i needed to write it down.

a chaotic mess

a show about 5 girls named ploy with each ploy's story adapted from 5 different stories. its as messy as it sounds.
why does gmmtv take up projects like this if they are not going to put any money in it? u have so many incredible women in the cast, from main characters to side characters, yet u don't use any of them properly??????
i have multiple problems with the plot and pacing:
1. the yearbook mix-up only affected like 2 of the ploys, why did they make it such a focal point of the series, especially punk ploy being so mad abt it when it did not affect her
2. the girls weren't close as grown-ups other than prof and prez so a lot of the friendship moments felt forced
3. the guys, don't get me started, they were so hypocritical. like mek and thap were so mad at prez and pretty for 'cheating' but they could get along fine even though they thought the girls were dating the other?? even their hangouts were weird. u don't show them together as friends in their high school days, but in the last few episodes, they were suddenly friend group? they didn't even show pi as a part of the group until the plot moved on to plain ploy.
4. pretty and mek's story was the most interesting but they rushed to finish that in 3 episodes so it felt very bland.
5. kram was such a plain character, his name should be plain. all his decisions were dumb, im not even an actor and i could tell all his decisions were bad pr for both of them.
6. WHAT IS THIS SHOW'S OBSESSION WITH ALMOST SIBLINGS DATING EACH OTHER?!?!? kram being adopted by prof's mom, punk and tawan being adopted siblings?!?!?? i can pretend to ignore prof and kram cause they knew each before he was adopted and they were kind of grown when it happened but punk and tawan??!?!? he was brought into their family as her brother and they date?!?!?!?!
7. everything with tawan's ex-wife was a big mess im not even saying anything.
8. i will always be a punk ploy defender. i would be pissed too if my parents brought a random guy and said he is your brother, deal with him.....she was the funniest character here. her and pretty's silly fights were cute. they could have done tawan and punk differently. like punk's father is tawan's role model or something and punk being jealous and when the parents die they leave the gym to him, that would give proper reason for her anger.
9. the whole divorce thing with plain was also messy and didn't make sense, like which court operates like this??
10. thap and prez's story had potential but just like pretty and mek, they rushed everything into a few episodes so it was messy.
11. thap, punk and kram were shown as good friends in the flashbacks in the last episodes, but they don't seem to interact when they are grown up so???? feels like they were doing whatever with the script
12. im really disappointed that they didn't try to make the friend group thing genuine, it seemed fun in the last episodes.

they could have made this a bit better if all the things were happening around the same time instead of one by one. the highschool flashbacks could have been shown in order than putting random parts here and there, thap asking to date prez from the first reunion and finally getting together at the end etc etc

the costume/makeup department did well, you could feel the difference from when they were in high school to adulthood.
the prez vs punk moments were so funny to me, i remember namtan and film's insta stories showing bts where they are all lovey-dovey with each other
im glad i get to see them play adults, i was so tired seeing many of these actors play highschool students over and over.

Idk how u all get past that age gap

I can't believe these pedophilic shows are the most hyped kdramas
I'm baffled at the whole show having a highschool student as its fl with a male lead who is 900+ years old. Yes, he is going to be older than anyone he meets but they could not have made her a college student or something. If their aim was to have a helpless yet cheerful fl they could have done that but no. straight up child and she was childish the whole time. Its said that she is 19 but a 19 year old in school is no way mature or 'legal' for grown ass people to date. The creators clearly wanted a literal child to be the main lead for the show. They even end the show by reincarnating her as a school girl.
The Grim Reaper-Goblin-Sunny arc was the best part of the show. Their story, how their pasts are connected, how they don't remember each other yet they cross each other's paths were all done well. The show should have been about the grim reaper and sunny's romance with the goblin being the 3rd person narrator and ji eun tak being someone they all mentor/brings them together. A found family trope if u may

The lore was good too, it was interesting till the last few episodes where it seems like they let go of the buildup so that people ended up together. I didn't drop the series for the sole reason of finding out the story, not because of the main couple.

another kdrama with characters who have potential to be great but falls into the generic ways

the synopsis and the first few episodes really made me excited. a girl boss who puts up a strong front and shields herself but not letting her emotions out and a sensitive guy who protects himself by keeping people at a distance. would make a great story right? but they just made this into a generic romcom

they fell in love too quickly without any obstacles. it would have been satisfying to see the ml wanting to connect with the fl and him being faced with the obstacle of not able to help her emotionally. these things did happen in the show but not as a heavy point in the plot. the writers did the easiest thing by making her grandma pass away, that just simply gave away a emotional opening. it felt too easy. and they started saying i love you way too quickly for me. it felt like 2 days after they were together they were in love.
even the second couple too, just jumping into marriage??? that too when the guy has so much trauma and ptsd???? bro should understand that a marriage will not wipe his problems away, he should try some therapy. they too had the potential to be great but the writers were lazy. i wonder if this has something to do with the situation in korea, with people not getting married.

the villagers and workers were supposed to be an important part to the story and be the comedic relief but i was not able to connect with them so everything relating to them was boring. i didn't find this series funny at all.

they also slightly over-did his sensitivity. wdym he knows the delivery man is sent by the enemy to swap the bottle because he is sensitive. i had to check whether this was a fantasy series cause they way they were showing his sensitivity u would think he had a superpower to read people's minds.

i don't think romcom dramas are for me. was very interested in this initially but after the couple got together it quickly became boring
