Yi Zhou was never an asshole in the show. He never treated Mumu bad, he was really nice to her - she was much ruder to him than the other way round. The only time he was rude was when he lost his memory after the crash. The tag also says possessive male lead as a heads up.
Luckily, this movie was out in cinemas in my city so I got to watch it today. People in the comments are saying he's the sweetest Zhi Shu/Naoki , I am slightly on their side with this but I think Joe Cheng's Zhi Shu (2005) is the sweetest one for me but Talu Wang is on par with Joe Cheng's Zhi Shu.
The movie was super cute, I really loved the editing; it reminded me of the editing and cinematography of 'Our Times' given since it's the same director.
The thing that made me upset was that was a lot of important scenes that were missed out and removed and some scenes felt somewhat incomplete but that was given since it was only a 2 hour slot.
I hope they make a sequel or a drama sequel to this!!

I made this comment 3 months ago where all of this wasn't updated on mydramalist so at the time (August 2018) I was right. Meteor Garden wasn't really a flop internationally maybe mainland China but a lot of international viewers watched it in on Netflix... I don't really want to argue I just gave my opinion of what was SHOWN to me in August.
I hope it will be as good as the anime and original Japanese live action. That version is one of my favorite J-dramas I hope this show doesn't disappoint me
